I had a lamp similar to this 30 years ago in my kids nursery. It finally stopped working so I bought this one to replace it. Not disappointed!! It’s a little taller than the one I had, but still petite enough to look nice on my bedside table. My dog is nearly blind and needs a bit of light at bedtime. This is just enough without being too bright. I leave it on high until I get into bed, then turn it down to low. The plug on the base is a bonus…I can plug in my phone charger since my phone is my alarm clock and is needed for work as my time clock…it’s imperative it’s charged!! My only suggested would be to put the plug on the side of the base instead of the top…it looks a bit messy with a plug and cord sticking up from the base. But all in all, pleased with the purchase. Oh…also comes with 2 bulbs! Another nice bonus! ... show more

I bought this lamp bc I liked the look of the lamp pictured in the ad for this desk. It’s smaller than I had hoped in person, but it is very bright (comes with a mini LED bulb similar to an over the stove bulb). It is a touch lamp and works nicely. The one I got, the styrofoam it was wrapped in looked like it had been on fire or melted. I presume this was from it getting too hot in the warehouse or maybe it was returned? 1) Yes, it is only 12" tall, as the description says. 2) The cord is plenty long, at least three feet. 3) Mine came with an LED bukb. Some may not recognize it as such because it's a "vintage" blub that might be mistaken for an incandescent. 4) To install the shade, I had to turn the bolt at the top of the lamp where the bulb is to raise it a bit. I'm referring to the bolt that the shade nut screws on to. May have to adjust that bolt's height. May also need to put a finger on that bolt to hold it in place when yo screw the shade nit on. 5) I use it on my nightstand to illuminate the floor when I rise in the middle of the night or on dark winter mornings. Although it can be quite bright, it's not tall enough to be used as a reading light if you're in bed. 6) Always helps to read the instruction manual. It does have some useful information. But I found the always amusing non-professional Chinese attempts at English amusing: Last item in the manual under "ATTENTION" warns that one should not "cast it in fire". ... show more

I bought 2 of these lamps a year ago. One lasted around 5 mos before it stopped working. The second one has lasted for around 11 mos and no longer works. It seems that once a bulb burns out, so does the lamp. I miss when you could buy things that would last more than a year instead of the disposable junk that’s being produced now that just ends up in a landfill within a few months. ... show more

    • Lightbulb burns out quickly and difficult to replace. Kindly my money was refunded!!

Boosted this up to 3 stars for the customer service, even thought it was past the return date. Thanks Amazon seller!!! The bolts that connect the shade to the base are a wobbly intention at best. After trying to replace the lightbulbs that burned out between a January purchase and a summertime fail. The act of taking off the shade to replace the bulb made the attachment to the base again impossible to get level. Essentially the threading of the bolts did not hold up, poor construction. I was unable to replace the lightbulbs with any other new bulb that would allow for the same dimming and touch functions that are essential to the lamp. Overall the experience was a fail. It was cheaper and just as design worthy for me to pick up to lamps to replace them from target on sale for 10 dollars each. In a nutshell I DO NOT recommend this lamp. My experience was an utter fail and there was no reprieve from the seller or Amazon. Go Target. ... show more

I use this gold, dimmable lamp in my office and it works great. The lamp itself is well made and decently heavy. It is a plug in and turns on by touching anywhere on the lamp. The bulb that is included gets very hot. I ended up replacing it with a dimmable LED bulb and it works just as well without overheating. There is also a plug on the base of the lamp if you need to plug in a charger (works even when the lamp is off). Great modern lamp that I would highly recommend. ... show more
