1) Yes, it is only 12" tall, as the description says. 2) The cord is plenty long, at least three feet. 3) Mine came with an LED bukb. Some may not recognize it as such because it's a "vintage" blub that might be mistaken for an incandescent. 4) To install the shade, I had to turn the bolt at the top of the lamp where the bulb is to raise it a bit. I'm referring to the bolt that the shade nut screws on to. May have to adjust that bolt's height. May also need to put a finger on that bolt to hold it in place when yo screw the shade nit on. 5) I use it on my nightstand to illuminate the floor when I rise in the middle of the night or on dark winter mornings. Although it can be quite bright, it's not tall enough to be used as a reading light if you're in bed. 6) Always helps to read the instruction manual. It does have some useful information. But I found the always amusing non-professional Chinese attempts at English amusing: Last item in the manual under "ATTENTION" warns that one should not "cast it in fire". ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The lamp seems to be good quality. Good weight and structure. The only think I don't like is the top piece screws in with a washer in between it and the lamp head. The washer is silver. I wish it blended better.

We purchased these (8 of them) for our student study area, and at first they were great. Then they got too hot. One burned out it was so hot. So we ordered a replacement and I ordered cooler bulbs... it didn't work because another one went out. Then just today another lamp burned out. These are not small issues that can be repaired... we dissected one and the entire base was burned inside the wiring. These could actually cause a fire hazard we decided to get rid of all of them and take the financial hit since we'd ordered 10 total. Bad product. DO NOT BUY!!! ... show more

I had a lamp similar to this 30 years ago in my kids nursery. It finally stopped working so I bought this one to replace it. Not disappointed!! It’s a little taller than the one I had, but still petite enough to look nice on my bedside table. My dog is nearly blind and needs a bit of light at bedtime. This is just enough without being too bright. I leave it on high until I get into bed, then turn it down to low. The plug on the base is a bonus…I can plug in my phone charger since my phone is my alarm clock and is needed for work as my time clock…it’s imperative it’s charged!! My only suggested would be to put the plug on the side of the base instead of the top…it looks a bit messy with a plug and cord sticking up from the base. But all in all, pleased with the purchase. Oh…also comes with 2 bulbs! Another nice bonus! ... show more

So far both lamps work as described and arrived quickly and well packed. Solid well-weighted with no tip over issues, bulb is bright and dims when lamp is touched on base or shade. Just what I wanted for bedside! Thank you!
