  • In L O V E!
Okay. So. I used to be the one to go to the nail salon every 2-3 weeks for a fill or a new set. I had only done dip powder 2-3 times at the salon - usually opting for acrylic. In an effort to save money (and my nails) I thought I would give this a try. NOT ONLY have I saved a crap ton of money, I've saved my nails! My first round of doing my own nails was, as expected, a mess. However, over the last 2 months I've mastered using this kit. The instructions are clear - clean your nails and push your cuticles. Use bottle #1, base, then dip your nail into the powder. Do this 2-3 times, but keep it at a max of 3 dips or it gets too thick. Activate with bottle #2 - activator. Wait 30-45 seconds. File and buff your nails. Activate again. Wait 30-45 seconds. Top coat, bottle #3. I usually do two top coats as it gives better results. BAM! Beautiful nails. I've learned that a *key* part in using this kit is to have clean, DRY nails, or the dip will lift faster than it should. I've also learned that 3 coats works the best for me, as I am rough on my nails. Overall, this is super easy to use once you get the hang of it - for me it took about 3 times to get it right and about 5 times to realize that little key part I mentioned above. It's been about 2-2.5 months since I've purchased. I haven't used all of the colors, but I'll be needing more bottles of the liquid soon, especially the base and top coat, which can be purchased separately. HIGHLY recommended product! My nails are healthy, getting longer and definitely stronger with using this kit. I've never been able to grow my nails out as they've always broken. Hope this review is helpful to anyone considering! ... show more

  • Love it!
I'm very impressed. I've had 2 sets of dip nails at the salon, and while I like the result, I found them thick and chipping away after about 8 days. I decided to order this set to try my luck at home. I followed the directions exactly and am super pleased with the results. I have some uneven-ness, especially on my dominate hand, but I believe that's totally operator error and will improve over time. My nails aren't nearly as thick as when I have them done professionally, which I also like. I can't speak to the longevity of the polish, but at this point, if I can get a week out of them before needing to redo them, that's great and saves me alot of $ over time. Easy to use, just follow the directions exactly. I'm also very impressed with the gel top coat..at the end of the second coat and minute, my nails are completely dry. No more uv light or smudged nails...that alone is worth the 25 bucks! I will be looking to purchase the other kits and colors. If you have had dip nails at the salon before, and are capable of painting your own nails, you can absolutely do this at home with ease. ... show more

  • Perfect if your trying to save $$
Best purchase I've made thus far. I am on a very tight budget, so I'm not paying $50+ dollars for acrylic nails that only last about 2 weeks. SOOOOO... I Took a chance on the dip powder..Best decision ever. I love that there endless options color , matte, glitter etc.. First time was definitely an experience... My nails came out thick and bumpy. Second goaround was much better once you get the hang of it! I got so many compliments on my nails from my co-workers. Now they're using it as well. If your the girl who always smears her nail polish because you can't wait for them to dry, or just a mom on a budget like myself give these a try. TIP**** Read the instructions!! It will save you so much time .. ... show more

  • Find a Different Brand - Liquid Bottle Caps Break Easily, Jars Too Small to Dip, No Color Chart
I will start by providing you the review bullets, then you can read the detail if you have time. 1) I would recommend finding a different brand with full sturdy .5 oz bottles of liquid, not these small plastic .3 oz. bottles with fragile caps. The shipping box is flimsy and mine was crushed in shipping so the Activator lid was cracked and it spilled out into the box. 2) There is only enough liquid in these small bottles to do 4 or 5 sets of nails and you will need to purchase a replacement set of liquid, so for value, purchase one with full bottles to begin with that have sturdy caps. 3) These powder jars are very tiny to dip into, so plan on using cupcake lines or some other flexible cup underneath to use the sprinkle method. Cupcake liners easily bend and allow you to pour the unused powder back into the jar so its not wasted. 4) There is no color chart making it very difficult to figure out which pink is which and which red is which. 5) Finally, though they advertise customer support, I emailed Modelones about the broken Activator lid inquiring as to how I can get a new bottle of Activator, and they never answered me, so I bought a new full size bottle liquid set from Saviland for $10. Below is the detail of my experience. I needed to find an alternative nail solution to my monthly acrylic pink and white manicure, and I liked the colors shown online so I decided to give it a try. I chose this set for the value and the variety of colors and was very excited to start. When the set arrived, the Activator Lid was cracked, and most of the liquid had leaked out. The boxes they ship in are very thin, so if the package is crushed in anyway in shipping, which mine was, these liquid bottles can be damaged. As there was still some Activator left in the bottle and there are 2 replacement bottle caps included, I switched out the cap and plunged in. I prepped my nails with my new cordless drill, then tried to pick a color. There is no color chart and for those who are new to Dip Nails, the only way to figure out what the color is, is to put a dot of Base on some parchment or printer paper, and sprinkle some powder on it to determine the color with one coat. As you add additional coats, the color darkens. This is a packaging issue - the manufacturer should include a color chart with each kit - what good is the number on the lid of the jar, if you don't know what it refers to? There may be some reading this who are saying "just buy a color swatch kit on Amazon (it has little plastic sticks like qtips that you dip in the Base and then into the powder jar to determine the Dip Powder color). Why should I have to spend more money to figure out what I've purchased? I had to go on line to the product photo on Amazon and try to figure out looking at the nail colors pictured and comparing them to the assortment of powders in front of me which color was which. My first color choice was not the one I had thought it was online, it was way too dark, so I had to take it off and start over. Once choosing a 2nd color, I was ready to start. I followed the package directions trying to dip into these very small jars, but I was noticing that even with the thinest of base coats, it caused bunching on the first few nail surfaces. As I had watched several YouTube Dip Nails videos before starting with helpful tips, one vlogger suggested placing a paper cupcake liner underneath the finger you need to dip and just sprinkling the dip powder onto the nail and into the cupcake liner. So on the next few nails, I used this method. When I switched to the cupcake liner and sprinkling, VOILA! The nails were smooth. After 2 coats and applying the Activator, I filed down the nail bumps, applied more Activator, the 2 coats of gel and it came out lovely for my first try. I cannot recommend this for a Beginner. Find a kit that has full size liquid bottles with sturdy caps, one with better directions, a color chart and Customer Support that responds when you email with an issue. ... show more
