Description

The year is P.D. 323. Three centuries after the Calamity War, a new world order is maintained by the military organization Gjallarhorn, but the seeds of a new conflict are being sown on Mars. A private security company accepts a mission to escort the revolutionary leader Kudelia Aina Bernstein to Earth, and the company's child soldiers rise up in revolt against the adults who betrayed them. Among them is Mikazuki Augus, who becomes the pilot of the Gundam Barbatos, a dreadful relic left over from the Calamity War.

  • They have Politics, Drama, and Wow-Cool-Robot. This is my kind of Gundam.
(very slight spoilers for episode 1, and I guess for Gundam shows from the 80s. I am trying to be oblique) TL;DR - I am currently excited and hopeful. They brought back UC themes, gave us a compelling MC, have a great art style, and some really cool action. With only the first episode out, first three episodes out if you count the movie, it is hard to tell if my excitement is justified. But so far I am having a great time. Machu, our MC, is a "Gundam Boy" in the vane of my favorite classic protagonist Judau Ashta. She sees a thing she needs to do and does it, consequences be damned. Machu fortunately does not share in Judau's stupidity. Her frantic energy as she decides to participate in other long standing traditions in Gundam, Steal the Gundam and fight the cops, is a refreshing rework of old UC themes. The 3D CGI they are using is not distracting and makes for some killer action scenes. The way the background gets destroyed is also top notch. To the mixed category. I do like the new art direction for the characters and the Zaku. I am still feeling out the Kwucks, it's name as strange and gross as it's body. Perhaps it will grow on me when it is more of a character later. I am reading Machu's hanging 'right-side-down' as her NT moment. Hopefully it is not pandering but, you know... Gundam. While I am glad to see Haro is still a 'person,' I am confused by the lock (Did Amuro's haro survive and become a NT sensor?). I am glad they Char continues to be the shadiest man to ever live, but am unsure how I feel about the plot revolving around the RG. I did enjoy all of the NT nostalgia, but I don't know if they can clarify the metaphor enough to make any coherent themes out of it. ... show more

  • MSG: Reimagined
Once I got over the redesigns of the old school mobile suits I had a much better time with the series. As the new story progresses those designs really grow on you. Love the music, they do a great job so far syncing the music with the action and mood of the show. While the original MSG is what I need, this is a nice reimagining as well. Give it an honest try and I think you might like it. ... show more

  • It is picking up!!!
Episode 8 was fireeeee. I am a original Gundam lover so it is kind of nice seeing the Easter Eggs from the original and expanding on some characters that got killed off in the original early on. I do wonder if Arnuro will show at some point or Lalah even as a this is what they became after the timeline change. ... show more

  • Amazing new direction for the series
Loving this new Gundam series. The "what-if" scenario is amazing to watch. The characters and fight scenes are some of the best they've had in awhile. I'm really looking forward to the whole season. If you're on the fence check it out!

  • Gundam, a continuing legacy
I will always say it. I dont care whether it's an anime or not, but out of the 20th century I will always see Gundam as the best work of scifi and ahead of its time in the real world. The original captivated me and has led me on a cruise of the 'war is bad' themes and other deeper human and scifi ideas across the shows. So far already liking GQuuuuuux. Its fun. And getting an idea where it might head is getting me very hyped. ... show more

  • Sleek animation, colorful characters, cyberpunk world design, and awesome mecha designs!
Gundam Gquuuuuux has some really nice aesthetics! The fights look so smooth. The character designs are top notch! The Gundams have got that Evangelion vibe going for them too! This series is gonna clap cheeks. Trust. Gundam is back baby! Also, HARO has some serious drip in this series! Real recognize real! ... show more

  • Fantastic Start!! Hooked already!!
Jumped right.. Just like the original.Gundam Mobil Suit. I was damn happy to find this on Prime. Cruncyroll let me down with the English Dub and Disney owns Hulu so they can suck it!.. One in and I'm hooked just like I was on the Witch from Mercury!

  • Great renewal for the younger generation, keeping politics a short distance away.
The IMAX vibes were unreal—mechs crushing it, and that space station? I’d kill to live there, so slick. Ended too quick, though. I’d say 9.5/10—awesome, but over before I blinked.
