Praise the lord it FINALLY happened! After years of having to settle w/that horrendous Artisan Video standard def DVD Lionsgate finally comes thru w/an awesome boutique bluray packaging of a modern-day Western from autuer action filmmaker Walter Hill thats criminally underrated in my eyes. An R-rated A-Team lead by Michael Ironside comes into the crosshairs of Nick Nolte's Texas Ranger who's simultaneously dealing w/a cross-border drug war led by Powers Boothe's cartel boss (who's also a childhood friend of Nolte). Violent, overflowing w/testosterone & toxic hypermasculinity, and FILLED w/all the 80s cheese you love packaged in a bluray WORTHY of its very reasonable asking price. Its here now.     • Much improved HD transfer of 1987 action classic, augmented by terrific special features
EXTREME PREJUDICE is one of my favorite movies from the 1980s, thanks to Walter Hill's direction, a cast loaded with great actors and Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic music. Part of Vestron Video's (Liongate) Collector's Series, this release makes the previous Artisan DVD with its atrocious full screen presentation completely obselete. EXTREME PREJUDICE comes to BD with a much improved widescreen transfer. In my mind, the transfer still needs some improvement but if you've been suffering with the previous DVD release as many have, you can throw it in the trash or rest a drink on top of it after you replace it with this one. If you love this movie as much as I do, not only does this have a better transfer but there's a great commentary track filling in a lot of details about the making of the film as well as a fantastic one hour interview extract with director Walter Hill from 2019 where he talks about the making of this film and a few others in his filmography. Add to that superb recent interviews with actors Michael Ironside and Clancy Brown and you will have even more information about the making of EXTREME PREJUDICE. Critic John Takis takes us through a great presentation of Jerry Goldsmith's music for the film as well. This is no time for testimonials to the Ranger but it IS time for you to throw out that DVD and buy this excellent BD presentation of EXTREME PREJUDICE from Vestron Video and Lionsgate. ... show more

    • Very poor transfer on the USA ntsc Artisan release
So firstly let me say that I love this film. It features some fantastic action and gun battles especially the finale sequence, just awesome stuff. Sadly though this artisan dvd release is just awful looking. It’s open matte for one, which honestly I don’t mind much, but there is just so much grain and fuzz to the picture it really takes away from the film. Now if this was the only release of the film I’d say well it isn’t to bad. But the pal dvd was a nice clear and crisp widescreen print, that literally craps all over this print. I have a print through means I’d rather not mention so can verify it’s much better then this release. But what’s even more frustrating is Germany released a Blu-ray that looks even better then the pal dvd. Why they get exclusivity to a bluray from an American made film is beyond me, but this needs an all region blu release very badly. Stay away from this artisan release, it’s super cheap and that’s for a reason, it’s an awful transfer of an awesome film. Only reason it gets 2stars from me is how much I love this film ... show more

    • Finally a good copy of this film!
If you are a fan of Extreme Prejudice, you need this new Blu Ray copy. The poor quality DVD transfer was terrible quality . . . almost as bad as the 1990's VHS transfer. The Blu Ray has very crisp video with brilliant color with excellent sound.

The clarity of this Blueray edition is far superior to the old pan and scan DVD. Stll no letterbox format, which is a disappointment.

    • Extreme Prejudice was a good 80's era action adventure movie and definitely worth the watch
I remember seeing this movie at the theater in the 80's when it came out. I think Nolte did a good job as a Texas Ranger and lead actor in this movie. Powers Booth also does a nice job as the main bad guy. I've always liked both Nolte and Booth as actors and they don't disappoint in this action movie either. It's an 80's era action adventure movie and it's worth the watch. I have it in my collection and watch it every couple years or so when I have a couple hours to spare on a rainy afternoon or evening. ... show more
