Ensigns Beckett Mariner (voiced by Tawny Newsome), Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), D'Vana Tendi (Noël Wells), and Sam Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) tried to keep their gaffes cloaked from the senior officers of the U.S.S. • Star Trek!
Discs worked perfectly. Happy with my order. Speedy delivery. Show is pretty good too. I’ve never known that I wanted an adult animated Star Trek sitcom until I had it. Amazing!

  • The TNG Era via “Rick & Morty”!
“Star Trek: Lower Decks – Season 1” collects all 10 episodes of the first season of the latest animated series in the “Star Trek” franchise. The story begins in the year 2380 exactly one year after the events of “Star Trek: Nemesis” and the other TNG-era shows but prior to the destruction of Romulus in 2387 as seen in “Star Trek” (2009) and “Star Trek: Picard.” It focuses on the junior crewmembers of the U.S.S. Cerritos, a California-class ship that specializes in second contact missions following up on the more dramatic first contact missions of ships like the Enterprise. The show stars Tawny Newsome as Ensign Beckett Mariner, Jack Quaid as Ensign Brad Boimler, Noël Wells as Ensign D’Vana Tendi, Eugene Cordero as Ensign Sam Rutherford, Dawnn Lewis as Captain Carol Freeman, Jerry O’Connell as Commander Jack Ransom, Fred Tatasciore as Lieutenant Shaxs, Gillian Vigman as Dr. T’Ana, with guest appearances from John de Lancie as Q, Jonathan Frakes as Captain William T. Riker, and Marina Sirtis as Commander Deanna Troi. The show is a brilliant work made by “Trek” fans for “Trek” fans with deep-cut references to all the previous shows, films, and more. Half the fun is the humor and the other half is catching the various Easter Eggs. It also gets to the core message of “Trek” in a way that honors the franchise. Bonus features on this Blu-ray include “Lower Decktionaries,” “Crisis Point: The Rise of Vindicta” trailer, “Faces of the Fleet” (a look at the show’s characters), “Hiding in Plain Sight” (a look at the show’s various Easter Eggs), a full length animatic, and deleted animatic scenes. It’s a great way to add this online series to your “Trek” home media collection. ... show more

  • Adult Humor
I personally didn't enjoy it too much but the friend I watched it with did quite like the humor and pacing. Be sure there aren't young ones around.

  • Parody done right.
Every episode has me laughing. And it is all done from a position of love for the franchise. The writers clearly know the history of Trek and use it in smart ways to bring the laughs. Even my wife who doesn't know all the history of the various series could not wait to watch more and found herself laughing every episode as well. ... show more

  • Very Good
This is so freaking awesome! Having had a look inside the making of the series I understand why there are only 10 episodes and much more. You get a complete look inside everything from casting to production to music. It will really help you appreciate the show. There is a lot of young adult humor with nods back to The Original Series and The Animated Series. Since it is set in the ST timeline after Nemesis the connection to The Next Generation is there to the point that Jonathan Franks, Marina Sirtis and John de Lancie make cameos to great effect. When I say young adult humor I mean the humor that is off the cuff and sometimes raunchy. It also gets rather graphic in a cartoon kind of way sometimes. I don't have children so I can't say too much but I can't imagine a 10 year old not having bad dreams after seeing some of the episodes. This is a must have for Trekies to get in on new cannon and have a good time. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did but the crew of the lower decks is so relatable and the officers are so stereotypical that the juxtaposition really pulls you in to the lower decks. It's time to join the crew of the U.S.S. Cirrotos. ... show more
