This arrived damaged - the box was full of ripped open holes and it had clearly been returned because there was new packing tape on top of old dirty packing tape. The wood was cracked and split in places, especially around pre-installed screws and along the edges. The wood had been rubbed in places so the paint will need to be fixed up. I've attached a few photos. I was desperate for something quick, and because there are so few decent dog houses on amazon I decided not to return it like the guy before me had and just find a way to make it work. A lot of other people seem to have the same issues with damage, so I knew there was a chance that I would too. House was very easy to put together. If the manufacturer could be more careful when putting the pieces together, and find a way to ship it without damaging it, it might be worth the nearly $200 I spent. I purchased the large Ware Premium+ Doghouse for our 40lbs dog and 14lbs dog (hopefully they will share). We live in Montana and the larger dog likes to spend most of her day outside, so this was an easier solution than buying a new door with dog door (we rent and cannot put a dog door in the owner's door). I also purchased the "hotdog" insulation kit, which is very nice and fits inside very well without taking away too much room, and the large "porch" which is nice but not very sturdy. The doghouse kit arrived with some minor shipping damage--a broken foot (still usable, though), and a few splinters off the wood. The kit was very easy to put together; however, tightening the screws firmly caused some of the wood to crack (I used wood glue liberally). Also, attaching the roof was tricky, without cracking more wood, as not all the pre-drilled screw holes went in far enough. The hinges for the roof, and the wood they are attached to, are rather flimsy, so I would recommend not opening the lid very often without incorporating some sort of reinforcement. Finally, the floor slats drop in, and I doubt they hold even an ounce more than the highest recommended weight (likewise with the optional porch). If I had a very heavy dog, I don't think this house would hold-up well. The nice thing about this dog house, despite its somewhat flimsy construction, is that it is wood, so modifications and reinforcements are easy. It looks very nice, is easy to build, and after a coating of wood sealant, should last a long time. ... show more

This picture is of the Crown brand Cedar Slant Roof dog house which I have and love. The Ware brand is advertised as premium. Just happened to get this at low price after being unable to get the Crown. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!. Color is very dark REDWOOD AND BROWN with dull matte finish. Rolled Roofing is Black/Brown. Wood is thin and splintering with dark stain. Door is extra on this house. Floor slats have spaces between allowing for draft and water. Top does not properly fit into grove in back which means it cannot properly be attached to rest of house and does not sit flat and tight over the top of the house. Looks cheap!. Only good thing was assembly easy because there was not much to assembly. ... show more

Got the front and sides together easily but then only of the three floors pieces fit!!! They are too wide. Will be returning this product. Also there was a ding on the roof. I previously indicated that I would be returning this item because the floor pieces did not fit. Much to my embarrassment and chagrin my daughter was able to put the dog house together with no problem! No sure what I did wrong but obviously I did something! So I am keeping this product. No my only issue is actually getting my dog to use it!!! LOL ... show more

Tightening screws splints the wood - can be fixed. Biggest complaint is only one of the 3 floor boards fits. Disappointed because want o use it to whelp pups. Too much trouble to package and return.

We are very happy with the size and construction of this dog house. We purchased it for a stray kitty with an injured leg that we have been feeding for quite a while so she has a warm dry place to eat and sleep. My husband built an awing over the doorway to help keep rain and snow from blowing in and made a solid floor for it. At first she only went in to eat, but eventually decided it is a lot more cozy than wherever she had previously found shelter. We also purchased the 20x25" K&H self warming pet crate pad and put it on top of an old dog pad we already had. It is very nice. We like that the roof of the house raises, making it easier to feed her and keep the inside clean. ... show more

The materials are pretty cheap (but it's hard to find anything that doesn't feel cheap these days...) and it's really not worth more than $100, but oh well.
