This review is for the Miui Mini 6-Inch Chainsaw. PACKAGING: The item came well packaged in a compact box. Individual pieces had been placed in plastic bags or a smaller cardboard box for additional protection. My item arrived with no visible damage to any of the components. SETUP: Setup was very simple. The included instructions are sufficient to get you cutting errant shrubbery in no time. (Be sure to pay attention to the safety warnings if you're not familiar with these types of cutting devices.) The battery I received was already fully charged (per the charge indicator lights located on the end of the battery), so the chainsaw was ready for immediate use. I was surprised how much was included with the chainsaw in additional to the battery and charger: instructions, two extra chains, a screwdriver (used to adjust the chain tension), safety glasses, dust masks, gloves, and earplugs. These additional items are a nice touch, especially if you don't already have them in your home tool arsenal. OPERATION: Attach the battery to the bottom of the chainsaw, put on your goggles, gloves, face mask, and earplugs, and you're ready to do some cutting! Activating the saw requires the user to press a safety button located on the left side of the unit. While holding the safety button down, squeeze the trigger. This saw made short work of a problematic shrub in my yard--it reduced my pruning time from about 15 minutes to approximately four minutes, and this chainsaw did a more effective job than my pruning shears ever could. ISSUES/CONCERNS/THOUGHTS: 1. As you might expect, the chainsaw is fairly loud when in use. The earplugs are definitely recommended if you'll be using it for an extended period. 2. You only get one battery with this kit. Similar chainsaws at this price point frequently include two batteries but might not include the screwdriver and/or some of the safety equipment that are included with this item. If you already have the safety equipment and a decent set of tools, you might wish to consider one of the other available options. 3. The manual indicates that the chain can be sharpened; however, unless you can sharpen your own chains, it's probably more cost effective to get a new chain when the current one loses its edge. I haven't been able to find replacement chains for purchase directly from Miui, but there are several other mini-chainsaw chains on the market that would probably work. Chains are a wear item and eventually have to be replaced anyway, so be sure to check on the availability of replacement chains prior to purchase if you plan to use this item frequently. 4. Changing the chain was very easy: remove the battery; use the screwdriver to loosen the chain; remove the thumb screw on the left side of the unit; remove the chain cover; pull out the chain and sprocket; replace chain; reinstall using the reverse procedure. FINAL RECOMMENDATION: Recommended, especially if you don't already have the necessary safety equipment/tools and won't need an extra battery. 4 stars. ... show more

What I like about it: It's battery-operated which gives you the freedom to take it around freely. The chain is not too small, therefore it is able to cut through thicker branches (I've tried up to 3 in diameter but can probably go higher easily. It came pre-assembled with the chain on (thank God!). It comes with other tools and accessories such as the gloves, ear plugs, screwdriver, and nose mask. There's also an extra chain. What could be better: Most mini chainsaws come with 2 batteries whereas this one comes with only one, which means you'll have to recharge during the job if the job is long. The gloves are NOT cut-resistant, so be mindful of that. Overall: While I do recommend it because it's a good product, if you look at the value for money, there are cheaper alternatives available that come with 2 batteries. But I am good with it because I will be using it only occasionally (once or twice a year). ... show more

This is easy to assemble and handle. I have not tried to use it for yard work. I have used it to cut wood for making a bookshelf. It was not over powering.

    • Powerful hand chainsaw makes chores fun

The media could not be loaded. Really clear instructions and safety precautions. It came with gloves, ear plugs, eye protection, mask, spare chain, battery, charger, screwdriver, and of course, the chainsaw. Protection covers for the blade and your hand along with a safety switch. The battery comes precharged. This is my new boy toy! I cut down a lot more limbs and branches than I meant too. It was fun! Some of the branches were 4"'s thick or better. It sliced through them fast. I found it best to start the saw 1st before laying it on the limb. I almost want to toss my regular corded chainsaw away. That one has to be oiled too. Too bad that this one doesn't have a place to hang on your belt even if it weighs a pound or two. (probably a good thing, though, as I might be carrying it around a lot more and then we'd have no trees left). Attached is a quick video of the 1st branch that I cut through. ... show more
