I'm giving it four stars because we had to watch the video on YouTube several times to install this ourselves because the kit came WITHOUT instructions and no parts list. However, in the video the host says it takes about an hour to install, it took almost three hours because we had to stop so much to watch the next part of the video since we had to pause it after each step. Also, the lid didn't fit quite right and we had to maneuver it so all the screws would fit in the right spots. In the video they used a prototype and the one we got was slightly different, not much but enough to make us wonder where all the screws went. We tried installing it with the engine noise hose delete and we ended up taking in off and putting the engine noise hose back on because we like the noise. Over all, it is a great product, well built, we chose the crinkle red and it looks really good. We tried buying this product directly from the factory and after a month of waiting, we canceled the purchase after we saw that we could get it through Amazon in TWO DAYS and a lot cheaper! Do we recommend this air intake? That's a big YES! Update: Nine months later and it is still working great!

air box bracket hole was difficult to line up with the mounting hole left of the coolant reservoir. also, the air tube leading from the air inlet to the air box was close to impossible to install (more than an hour was spent playing with it). we ended up using dish soap (mixed w water in a spray bottle) which really helped to attach the hose. sound tube delete kit is being ran on this setup as well as a removed heat shield air box lid. mishimoto didn’t include a plug for the hole in the firewall from removing the sound tube, but luckily i had something to stop it up. overall not really any noticeable performance changes but it sounds nice. instructions for the sound tube lacked on the tutorial video but it was pretty straight forward.

Cool stuff, but I don't think it is necessary. It didn't make THAT much of a difference in my opinion to performance. You just get a nice sound when you accelerate. I have this plus a Goodwin Racing Sport Exhaust on my MX5 ND. I do notice that it has a bit more torque down low compared to stock. However, I think you're better off buying just exhaust. This isn't bad at all though, but maybe just not $300 good.

Fantastic Product and top notch quality. Go to youtube and look up the intake install video it made the whole process almost effortless. Do be prepared as one of the last steps to put on a very tight seal around your cars existing pipe and the new airbox. I found myself yelling a few choices words for 15 minutes as i put that tight sleeve on.

The build quality is good, installation was fairly straightforward and the only issue I had during installation is that the metal intake elbow needed to be coaxed away from the battery tie down, otherwise it would rub. Other than that it's a solid intake, sounds good, looks good but don't expect any real gains.
