  • Good for casual gaming, rendering, and audio production
Size: HN2673-32GB/1TB
I am a musician and I use Bandlab a lot for music production, which is an online Digital Audio Workstation. I bought this computer primarily for that purpose and it has served me well so far. The site is more responsive and any issues I had before on my end are cleared up. I wanted to put this computer to the test for a while before reviewing it, so I have watched 4k videos, played some games like survivalist: Infected Strain, 0AD, etc on the highest quality graphics and I have done some rendering in Blender, Kdenlive, and I played around with Godot in 3D doing some basic tasks. It performed flawlessly with no lag and without the fans being too noisy. There was a slight heat off of the side of the computer but, nothing over the top. With Windows 11 Pro the computer performed well, but Windows itself is quite heavy on resources and I felt like I wasn't getting the best performance that I could out of the system. I first tried EndeavourOS Linux and it installed fine but, I personally didn't like it, so I next installed Manjaro Linux with the Cinnamon desktop. Right away in both EndeavourOS and Manjaro, I noticed that while everything worked, the Internet seemed slow. After some investigation I found that by disabling the bluetooth service that the Internet speeds increase exponentially (faster than Windows) and the computer became so fast that menus opened instantly, I mean blazing fast. It is possible that I didn't have the right Kernel and therefore the right driver for the bluetooth card installed and this made it slow, but I couldn't say for certain. Overall, I like this computer so far. I feel like it was an excellent purchase and I look forward to purchasing another MinisForum computer or two in the future for my kids. ... show more

  • Amazing Mini Gaming PC!
Size: HN2673-32GB/1TB
I bought this to play New World and it is amazing! This PC has all the specs of a much more expensive computer at a fraction of the price! It has a dedicated 6GB graphics card, 32 GB DDR4 ram, 1 TB HD and performs very well! It boots up in seconds and is lightning fast when running. I have no complaints! If you want to be able to play PC games on a budget this is the way to go. It would also make a great business PC or home computer that wouldn't need to be upgraded for a long time. ... show more

  • Great, with a little room for improvement.
Unit bought: Minisforum NUCXi7, pre-configured with 1TB SSD, 64GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro. The NUCXi7 is a great compact unit with a great thermal solution. Despite running heavy GPU loads, I rarely if ever exceeded 75C, with the hotspot being about 6C more--thermal throttling would only happen at 87C, so there's quite some headroom. There's just four small issues with this machine: (1) The two SSD slots are really close together, and one of them is right next to one of the two fans. That means that two SSDs with full enclosure-style heatsinks (such as the Samsung 990 Pro with factory heatsink) won't fit. I tried, can't be done. Luckily the NVMe slot next to the fan seems to be the PCIe 3.0 one and the other one the PCIe 4.0, since a single SSD with enclosure-style heatsink won't fit there either. I tried that one as well. Go with the heatsinks that are rubber-strapped onto the SSD and it might work [still waiting for mine to arrive] (2) The computer does not come with full Optimus; the intel onboard graphics is not exposed to the OS. This sounds like a small issue, but if you're gaming or training AI on it, roughly 600MB to 1GB of the NVIDIA GPU will be occupied by more pedestrian OS tasks, reducing the available VRAM to a bit more than 7GB. (3) is a total luxury problem: enthusiasts may find the RAM that is shipped with preconfigured units at CL22 a bit high in latency. You can get CL16 at 3200 MHz. (4) The stock SSD is not fast. I saw a bit more than 2GB/s from that drive sitting in the PCIe 4.0. The bottom line is: It's a great and fast machine, despite "only" using intel's 10th gen i7. It comes with Windows 11 Pro if you buy it with SSD installed (I did that for the Win11 license and to be hassle-free)--don't make the same mistake. Get a good SSD and decent RAM and build it yourself. You'll have a much better machine that way. If you plan to put only one SSD in, get one with any heatsink you like, if you plan to run dual SSDs, make sure that your SSD heatsink does not add significantly to the width of the 22mm of the NVMe--There's no such thing as an extra mm for this board. If you're not into the highest performance possible, get it pre-configured and you'll still be fine. For your money, you kind of get last gen Dell XPS hardware with a much better GPU (top TDP for the 3070 at that, 125W) for a fraction of the price but it comes at the expense of being less mobile and that you need to bring your own screen, keyboard, and mouse. Connectivity is Ok as well, 3x USB-A, full-size SD card reader (albeit, not the fastest) and audio jack on the front, USB-C (Thunderbolt 4 from the spec sheet) and HDMI on the back (happily running a wide-screen 1600p), and a 230W power supply included. Thermals are fantastic, and going by the flyer in the box discouraging users to disassemble that, Minisforum seems to use liquid metal as a thermal conductor between components and their excellent cooling solutions (Apple, take note!). ... show more

  • It was good til it went all bad! I was hype!!!
Size: NAB6-32GB/512GB
Well I wanted to say good things about this unit. It ran great with Windows 11, used it as a DJ PC, used with Serato, Engine DJ, MPC Software, and other DAWS. One day I powered down the unit and it would not power back on. Being the IT Guy I am, I started to troubleshoot. I held the power button down to release the charge, disconnected the power supply, and was able to get the unit to power back up. I then knew I had to watch for the worse. A few months later, I powered the unit down, to go out of town, and before leaving I tried to power it back up, and nothing. I have now lost everything. over 500 GB of data, programs, beats, files, personal documents all gone! Yeah I got the Asurion warranty because I know it was too good to be true! So be mindful, anything electrical or mechanical will fail at some point! I just didn't think it would be before a year passed. Sad situation I am now in! ... show more
