This is a tale of two halves, which flip open like a clamshell. On the left, we have a powerful scientific (non-graphing) calculator. On the right, we have a surface like electronic paper, we can write on. Left Side: A full functioned calculator with a STAT mode and all of the usual goodies you expect from a science/math calculator. The buttons all have more than one function, but the background label explaining the extra functions, was displaced upward enough that I tended to think the button labels belonged to the row above, rather than below. This was a bit confusing at first. Right Side: Here we find a drawing/note-taking area, which you can draw/write on with the included stylish (which snaps conveniently into the back of the calculator), or your finger, or whatever, leaving a trace in a lovely cyan sort of color on a black background. Your notes are retained until you clear them, even if you close the unit and leave it for another day. The unit is very slim and sleek in design, and amazingly lightweight. When you flip it closed, the two halves snap together pleasingly due to magnetic closures. In order to be so light and slim, it can't be built like a tank, and I can imagine someone breaking the two halves apart by unfortunate accident. In my view, that is a design esthetic rather than a flaw, but bears mentioning.

I’ve owned a few calculators over the years and this is by far one of my favorites. Great for your basic and even some of the more advanced equations. I went with the solar version cause literally all of my calculators have solar capabilities and I love it! Just enjoy replacing calculators less since they last longer. Also the pen feature is phenomenal. I thought it would be magnetic but it clips in and the black screen on the inside works super great. The button magically erases the screen so you can start over and it’s not sensitive either which is awesome. I just wish the hinges allowed the writing section to fold to the back. I do like to do some equations and math problems completely by hand so it would have been great if it could fold all the way down so I could use one side or the other. Outside of that, absolutely fantastic calculator!

This is a very handy scientific calculator that is ideal for students. The calculator seems to be well made and a good size. It is roughly the same size as an iPhone 14 and is very light weight. The display is function informative and is easy to read. It has a plethora of scientific functions as well as routine non-scientific functions. The notepad function may be handy for some and it comes with a stylus attached, though there is no way to save what was written. You erase what was written by pressing a button. It reminds me of the very old kids writing toys where you lift the plastic sheet to erase what was written. The calculator comes nicely packaged with decent instructions for its varied functions. The product works on two dime sized batteries, one for the calculator and one for the notepad. At this price point, in my opinion, both should be rechargeable and/or solar. It is for this reason and the limited value of the notepad that I reduced the star rating by one. If the notepad is not an absolute requirement, there are other name brand scientific calculators at a lower price point.

This Lvesunny Multifunctional Scientific Calculator with Notepad could be really great, but it's not. My major reason for ordering it was the notepad screen - great to jot down a quick note when paper is not handy. Problem is that the writing is too dark and not as easy to see as in the product listing picture. The major annoyance is that the 2ndF key labels are out of alignment! If you look at my blowup picture (with the yellow arrow), it looks like you press the "X" key (multiplication) for the HEX function, but it really belongs with the "-" key (subtraction). I find myself always going for the wrong key. I would have give a 1 Star rating, but I do feel that the "Multifunctional" aspect is awesome - especially including the computer functions: BIN, OCT and HEX on a "Scientific Calculator". Most of the function keys are self-explanatory, but to me the Statistical functions are not. I feel that procedural details are needed, but no instruction is provided. Even an online resource would be great. I'd say skip this one unless you really need the notepad screen. I hope that you found my review to be helpful - Please let me know.

The tablet part uses a CR1220 battery, the calculator part uses a LR1120 battery. On the tablet part it has a clear button but seems like it is always on. The tablet needs a bit of pressure to get the pen to write, start soft and see what the minimum pressure you need is. On the calculator it will not work without a battery despite the solar panel. The instruction manual is very minimal and presumes you already know how to use a scientific calculator, it doesn't go into what all the buttons on the calculator do, just basic on/off and how to clear the tablet. It is good for some math classes, making a shopping list and tracking how much you are spending, and doing paperwork at home or at work.

I've got to say, this is my first calculator with an "adult Etch-a-Sketch" type notepad. :-) So handy, even though writing is dark on a dark screen. Ok price, considering the notepad and stylus are included. There is a battery needed for the calculator and one for the notepad (which are included and installed). The description and box stating "solar scientific calculator" is very misleading if not paying attention to all listed details. In the description it lists the color as solar, but to use that in the description name, come on, that's just kind of bait and switch, isn't it? We'll see how the battery life is for each feature. It works fine, so no complaints there.
