  • This keyboard just feels right. The lighting is so cool too!
Pattern: Yellow Switches - Linear & Silent
Just got it a few days ago, but already I can say the feel of this keyboard is incredible. The keys are easy to work with, very responsive. With the light keypresses and the mechanical action, it's like one's fingers can fly off and across the keys! I wish my keyboards at work were this good!

  • What a downgrade from the V2!
Pattern: Green Switches - Tactile & Clicky
I've been a Razer Blackwidow fan for going on 15 years. My first Blackwidow V1 had a wire harness issue and had to be replaced. I replaced it with the V2 a good 7 years ago. My Blackwidow V2 finally fell victim to that same harness issue and I decided to get another one. Seeing this model available, I figured I'd give it a shot. Wow, what a disappointment in comparison to my awesome V2! First, the positives. There is only one USB end to plug in instead of 2 like with the V1 and V2. That USB cable is also thinner and more manageable. The LEDs are very bright. The plastic still seems to be of decent quality, and the keys have that same wonderful clicky response. Now.. the negatives.. oh boy. First, my V2 is beefy. Large, heavy, and substantial, and I like that. This V4 feels flimsy by comparison. That isn't to say it actually is flimsy, but it does not feel as beefy as the V2 by any means. Next, the keys are all protruding from the keyboard instead of sunken into it like with the V2. This means there is no surface on the front of the keyboard to rest my hands like there was with the V2.. if you try to rest your hands there, you will inadvertently press keys you don't want to press. This is already causing my hands to hurt as I have to kind of hover them there. Third, because the keys are not sunken into the keyboard, the LEDs are all completely exposed. While this may look cool, it is also too bright, and all of that extra light gets distracting. I miss the cool effect of my V2, where they keys just glowed with whatever letter was appropriate. And, with all of that extra light, they didn't even bother making the "locks" functions representative in any way.. they are just little white dots instead of a "C" or "1" or something like the old version. Fourth, there are no longer any extra surfaces around the keyboard.. anywhere.. it's like there was a plastic shortage or something. This makes it extremely difficult to pick the keyboard up, as the only places to put your fingers or thumbs are right next to keys you likely don't want to press. Additionally, all of the edges on this thing are SHARP.. it is actually uncomfortable, bordering on painful to pick this thing up with one hand. I have never, in all my 30+ years working with computers picked up a keyboard that was as uncomfortable to handle as this thing. It actually feels unfinished, like it is a component that is supposed to fit into a larger case or something. Finally.. the USB cable connects in the back of the keyboard using a USB-C connection. While this may seem convenient, I can already tell there is some levering going on there that is likely to wear that connection out over time. This connection should have been either a directly wired connection or one with an adapter that securely fastens it (sort of like the Naga clip-in cable) And that's just the physical issues with this keyboard. I haven't even used the multimedia functions yet. In all, I am extremely disappointed with this incredible downgrade from my V2 to this V4. I will not be purchasing another Blackwidow. I'll still likely choose Razer for my Deathadder mice, but I'll be shopping around for keyboards in the future. I may actually just find a good replacement immediately and toss this junk in the trash. ... show more

  • Buttery smooth
Pattern: Yellow Switches - Linear & Silent
Easily the best keyboard I've ever owned. The keystrokes are so nice and smooth compared to the older Black Widow I was using. I'm already typing faster and with greater accuracy. The keys are super quiet too, yet still have a good tactile feedback. Would def. recommend to anyone.

  • Not just for gaming.
Pattern: Yellow Switches - Linear & Silent
Razer keyboards, especially at this price point, are known for their quality and this keyboard is no exception. I'm a professional software developer, so naturally my choice of keyboard is important. There's a lot to love about its features, including the 6 additional macro keys, the ability to setup multiple keybind and color profiles, and the ability to change the color of individual keys. I have mine setup with three distinct profiles, primarily for the macro buttons. I have one for general use, and two additional profiles for my different IDE's. It's nice to have dedicated buttons for placing bookmarks, cycling between them, toggling comments, etc Having the ability to change the color of individual keys is a nicety, if nothing else. Things like highlighting the F5 and F12 keys, for example. I'm not a keyboard fanatic, so I can't tell you how the key presses rate against other keyboards at this price point, but I'm very happy with it. I believe the term for the Yellow switches on this keyboard sound and feel is, "chonky". Overall, I'm extremely happy with this keyboard. It took me a long time to pull the trigger on an expensive keyboard, but I'm glad I did. I'm pretty sure this one will last me for a good long time. ... show more
