It's not real flashy, but it's cheap. And it works. And I've got no complaints. For small jobs like my house, it'll work well. If I had to do a few hundred or thousand drops, it would probably break.

Look, if you’re doing Cat5/6 cable enough to need one of these, one of your coworkers probably already has one. It’s just so much easier to use than the clunky stripping tool built into most crumpets, and in my experience cuts better. Buy a couple (it’s cheap) and always look like a pro.

I have to terminate cat5 cat6 all the time and this prevents nicking the wires inside....I luv it.

    • Cuts to deep
When cutting the outside shield, this tool cut into the data wires. No matter which part of the tool I used to strip the outer shield, my data wires got cut. Went back to a small pocket knife to cut the outside shield.

It works fine as a punch down tool, but it is not a punch down cutter as listed. It will not clip the excess wire when punching down. Easily enough solved, but the product is mislabeled. The wire cutter is not great. The tensions are all wrong and you're likely to damage the wire inside whatever you're stripping. ... show more
