After 45 minutes, I'm sad to report that SmartLife should be the app you use to bring it into Alexa. Do not use the printed instructions. Do not do anything but use SmartLife. Once it's connected, works perfectly!

Great value for the money. It works 100% of the time, no issues whatsoever. It was very easy to set up, too. Now I can turn my big fan on (that is a regular fan with no remote, just has a little dial for high/medium/low) with my voice, using Alexa! It's great when I wake up and I'm feeling hot or cold. I don't have to go over and manually turn the fan on/off. I just say, "Alexa, turn the big fan on" when I'm hot or "Alexa, turn the big fan off" when I'm cold, and roll back over and go back to sleep. It's also nice like when I get a phone call or something, I can turn the fan off so the person on the phone can hear me better, etc. But this plug will work with literally anything that can be left on and already be on when you plug it in. It won't work for something like a microwave where you have to manually turn it on, obviously. But yeah, works great and I've literally never had a problem with it. Highly recommended! ... show more

Pro: compact, seem to be well built, integrate nicely with Alexa. I recommend setting them up all at once, even eif you're not going to use them all at once. Then when you're ready, plug one of the already programmed plugs in, and let Alexa know what you want to do with it. Con: the instructions were a little vague. This will be the third time I buy these. I’m kind of hooked into the app and the routines and it has really been working and helping a lot. One of them died, but I’m glad it stopped in the off position. I do need another one in that spot so I’m going to purchase a few more. They are 99.9% reliable to stay online. The one that was dying first started to go off-line. I guess that would be a signal that one’s about to fail. Not everything lasts forever. These are PERFECT for our Christmas tree lights. The cords are plugged in behind the couch and moving the couch every time is a pain in the butt! and Rather than having to remember to shut them off or turn them on, or leaving them on all the time, I set the timer and BOOM! No website to get an instruction manual. User interface is only with phone (a browser interface would *really* be nice). Capabilities are learned only after walking through up to 6 levels of pages - really tedious. No time on (or time off) range feature, e.g. turn on sometime between 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm, similar for turn off. I don't do Alexa. Device has potential but plan on spending a fair amount of time trying to figure it out. Hmmmm is the app maintained to work with phone OS updates? Since there is no mfg website, don't count on this being supported well into the future... ... show more
