Having a projector vs a TV is a game changer. I specifically bought this one because it gives that retro feel and fits in the decor a bit better. My room has a bit of the 60s style with some of the furniture, and having a projector that looks more like a speaker with a retro flair worked a bit better than the traditional look. Picture quality: Picture quality is really good and I have been able to cast at the full range of 120in which is incredible. It automatically adjusts if there is a bit of an angle based on the positioning of the projector making for an easy set up. Sound quality: For those that are big on sound, this was ok, but I have a low bar for projector sound quality. To ensure the sound quality was better, I attached a sound bar and this completed the set up. Ease of use: Having android built in, I found it was very easy to install different apps. There are a ton of apps and I can easily connect to my server to cast anything from there or access streaming services.

I recently picked up the Maypug portable projector 180 degree Rotatable 130” Screen Movie Projector, and I’m really impressed with its performance, especially given its size! It’s incredibly compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around, whether for travel, outdoor movie nights, or even just moving it between rooms. The setup was a breeze; I was up and running in just a few minutes. The image quality is surprisingly sharp for such a small device. It projects a bright and clear image even in a dimly lit room. I was able to get a decent screen size, up to 100 inches, and the colors were vibrant. The 1080p resolution is great for watching movies or playing games on a larger-than-life screen. Sound-wise, the built-in speakers are decent but not extraordinary. I recommend connecting external speakers for a fuller, more immersive experience, especially for outdoor use. The HDMI and USB ports provide flexibility to hook it up to various devices like laptops, smartphones, or even gaming consoles.

The Smart Projector arrived in a nice compact box that was well packaged and unharmed. I was able to get it up and running by simply unpacking everything, setting it up and plugging it in. One thing to note is the power cord is relatively short, so if you want to get it away from the wall it is plugged in, you’ll need a proper extension cord. If the plug is behind the unit where you set it up, this may not be necessary. The bottom of the projector moves if there is too much pull from the power cord. The app was easy to use, just scan the card and download from your OS App store. The projector does NOT auto focus so you will have to manually adjust it each time you move it. The projector does fix keystoning if aiming upward. One thing I like is that you can shoot the projector on the ceiling, which is a nice way to watch TV while lying on your back in bed. I downloaded the apps for Netflix and YouTube. I found app usable but clunky at times. However, I was able to log in using QR codes which was a nice touch. I did notice that the Netflix app is a little outdated and not able to scroll down, instead you must select TV shows, Movies, etc. in order to scroll what is available. YouTube app worked as expected. This can be used outdoors, so long as it isn’t too humid outside. Keep it out of the elements. The onboard speaker is usable, but highly recommend that you pair it with a bluetooth speaker for a better sound presentation. The one thing I did notice over time, was the fan noise. It is noticable at first but you tend to get use to it over time. That is why I recommend pairing it to a Bluetooth speaker because the fan noise competes with the enbedded speaker. This is a fun projector for a bedroom, dorm room, or a party room. Easy to setup if using outdoors. Remote control does not come with batteries.
