  • Nice, inexpensive little Linux box, but a bit laggy
Size: 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD Style: N5095A
[Updated: After using this for a couple of weeks, I'm still happy. But, the modest lagginess is a bit more noticeable. If you're one of those people whose blood pressure rises when the driver in front of you is doing 55mph and you want to do 57, you probably should buy a beefier box. You can reduce this effect by using a browser that lets you disable JavaScript on various sites. A lot of this is crap that slows down your machine but produces no value (for you).] My version has Ubuntu (Linux), 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. There are other sizes, and I think you can get it with MS Windows for about $30 extra. I think I paid about $170. The storage is NVMe and quite fast. I haven't benchmarked it, but the RAM seems fast as well. Probably the Celeron CPU is the choke point--four cores and not too fast. It's fine for run of the mill web browsing, and things like videos seem to work without stutter. If you're running a fat web app with lots of JavaScript, it might seem noticeably slow. Probably wouldn't be good for intensive gaming or image/video processing work. The form factor is very nice. There's a fan on the bottom, and it does make an audible sound in a quiet room. Probably similar to some laptops you've used. If there was other background noise, I'm not sure you'd hear it at all. (If you have noise-cancelling headphones, they kill the fan sound entirely.) The fan doesn't seem to be software-controllable. It's delivered with a recent LTS Ubuntu install, ready to set up. If you're paranoid, or just want the latest non-LTS version, it's an easy install from a flash drive. I haven't noticed any odd drivers being needed or anything like that. It's all Intel, aside from the ethernet chip, which is Realtek. Overall, I love it. If you're going to be disappointed by a lack of "snap" under heavier workloads, you might want to be with a more expensive CPU. (Generally, using MS Windows would require more CPU, versus Linux, so take that into account.) ... show more

  • Very Very Nice
Size: 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD Style: N5095A
Got this laptop because needed a new one and was done with Windows. I checked the reviews and found that quality of build was very high for this mini pc. So far this pc has worked wonderfully. it is fast and responsive and has no trouble handling daily tasks. Got a two year warranty with it so it should be well protected. Some reviewers complained about it being slow. They didn't say but Ubuntu is a full blown distro and needs ram. So if you bought the pc with only 4 gigs of ram that is probably why yours is slow. I got the 8 gigs of ram and 256 hard drive and it runs very quickly. Plenty of ports to plug almost anything in and it works well. Haven't had a problem with it dropping internet either, as some complained about, so I wonder if it isn't the internet rather than the computer. I can do anything in Ubuntu that anyone else can do in Windows, you just have to know how, and I find no complaints with this mini pc and would buy it again. ... show more

  • Great small linux box
Size: 16GB RAM | 2TB SSD Style: N5095A
This is a great small linux box that I can travel with and use like my towers at home. The only thing I changed out of personal preference was to go from the ubuntu desktop which came with it to the xubuntu desktop that all my other linux boxes use. The hardware works well and is a great form factor for traveling. I was advised by another person who uses it and they were right for my traveling needs. The ability to have two screens is great. ... show more

  • Only for professionnals...
Size: 32GB RAM | 1TB SSD Style: 5700U
An excellent machine, fast and reliable, its only flaw… the stock version of Ubuntu and the inability to access the BIOS to install Ubuntu version 23.10. The size doesn’t match the speed of the machine, which is a true powerhouse in this version, far too powerful for playing Roblox, which can suffice with much less, but it will make an incredible office machine, provided you’re a system expert. On my end, mastering Mac OS, Windows, and Linux, it took me 4 hours to overcome it, install Ubuntu version 23.10, and then struggle to finish its installation manually because the Home wasn’t appearing, rendering the machine unusable. For those who want a simpler machine delivered with Ubuntu, I recommend one of the models from Belkin. In case of issues, you’ll have real access to the BIOS and thus the possibility of performing a “clean install” of version 23.10. The model we present to you will be perfect for experts. This small machine has two Ethernet ports like the old Mac Pros, Wi-Fi 6, and two HDMI ports, a headphone output, two USB 3.2 ports on the front, and two other USB ports at the back of the machine. Wi-Fi 6 works very well; however, I recommend using the Ethernet port if possible for installations and updates or if your work requires handling large files, as Wi-Fi is by definition fluctuating and unstable for such operations. If needed, you can add a Blu-Ray player. And for your information, even though we managed to recognize and print with a lot of effort using a LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw printer, the HP Envy Photo 7855 is recognized by the system but unusable due to the inability to perform a “clean install.” The installation via the terminal was also very problematic, forcing us to install a whole bunch of elements manually. For this color photo printer, we found no solution; we’ll have to wait for a future update… So, it’s a very well-designed machine. Hopefully, the manufacturer will offer versions with Ubuntu 23.10, which would solve quite a few issues, as version 22.04 is very problematic for printer management and other functions. ... show more

I plugged accessories into it, turned it on, created an account and I was online that easy. I found some card games and have been having a great time. It is the fastest computer I own. Faster that Windows and faster than Apple. This computer is now my go to for daily use. Fast access to the internet makes it great. ... show more
