First of all, I’m not a fine woodworker or anything like that. I don’t make beautiful furniture or know my way around a dovetail joint or anything like that. But I do enjoy hobbies from time to time, and I picked this little thing up because it was inexpensive enough that if it hadn’t worked, I wouldn’t have been too let down. I tried it out, and it actually worked really well for putting a reasonably flat edge on smaller pieces of wood or taking off thin shavings when trying to make a project look reasonably good. I did have to spend a little time at first with a sharpening stone and a leather strop to get it razor sharp… but for something as inexpensive as this was, I wouldn’t expect it to arrive 100% ready to use. I enjoy sharpening tools, so I didn’t really mind this at all. Again, I’m not a professional or even a very good woodworker. There are certainly much better planers out there that will arrive ready to use and can more than likely split a hair lengthwise. But for the amount I paid and the amount of use I got out of this thing, I’m very happy. ... show more

I used this to plane the overhang of the cabinet pantry in my kitchen that was preventing me from placing my refrigerator against the wall . I had to plane off about a quarter inch of wood for a length three feet. I did have to use some muscle to do so but the item did what I purchased it for.
