Will it plane wood? Yes. Is the cost good? Yes. But the negatives about this plane FAR outweigh any positives there might be. Adjusting the depth is practically impossible with any sort of accuracy. Any reputable plane has a depth adjustment. This has none. Getting the blade square is by your own eye. There’s no way to ensure the blade is truly square. Every piece of wood I’ve tried to plane with this has left gouges. They’re not extreme gouges but gouges nonetheless that then require fixing after the fact. The price is good but that means nothing if the tool doesn’t do what it’s designed to do. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Legit review from a woodworker. I have plenty of bench planers but wanted a micro/stubby to handle small finish trim work on projects. This thing is super simple to setup and got smooth ribbons immediately. I made a video showing first time results out of the box. Made 2 passes over something before it completely fell apart. The book included with this item is NOT for the item itself so completely useless. Tried to put back together based on the picture on the box. Whole thing did not seem to fit together as shown. Even getting the pieces together correctly they seemed to be the wrong size. ... show more

I guess the fact that this item didn’t work properly is a reflection of the price point. It just didn’t work. The blade would not adjust and didn’t function as a hand planer should. Spend a little more for better quality.
