  • A nice chainsaw size that will handle light pruning and limb removal tasks.
Style: Chainsaw + Work Light
The Wisetool 8" 20V Cordless Chainsaw has some good design features and a two features that are found to be lacking. This chainsaw is only slightly front heavy, but it is still very easy to maneuver with one hand. The overall ergonomics are pretty good. The chain tensioner is very nice and easy to use and it is one of this chainsaw's best design features. The chain is very sharp and easy to change out. CON #1: This kit is lacking a spare chain. A second chain needs to be included. I have found that the BYANE 8" chains with 3/8" LP Pitch, 0.050" Gauge, and 33 Drive Links work well on this Wisetool chainsaw. This chainsaw comes with a canvas storage bag/carrying case that is a welcome change to the blow molded hard stroage cases that come with most other similar products. The 20-volt 4.0-AH battery is compatible with Makita cordless power tools. CON #@: This kit only includes 1 battery pack. A second pack should have been included. The on board chain oiling system works and this is better that having to use a squeeze bottle to keep your bar and chain lubed while cutting. When you use this chainsaw, allow for gravity (the chainsaw's own weight) to provide most of the cutting force. This will keep the saw from overheating either the motor and/or the battery pack I will choose now need to figure out if I want to grab this 8" or my 6" cordless chain saw when I need to prune/limb out trees and bushes. This kit includes a very nice compact work light that is highly adjustable. The work light has 2 different light output levels. Both of them are bright and offer a wide beam output pattern. I recommend the WISETOOL 8" 20V Cordless Chainsaw with work light. Just understand what items are included with this kit. ... show more

  • Needs a spare chain
Style: Chainsaw + Work Light
Overall, we like this so far. It really is lightweight, which is a significant factor for us. If you have arthritis or any kind of physical challenge, this mini-saw is actually possible to use! It's easy to carry around and great for small jobs. We haven't used it enough yet to comment on durability/longevity, but it seems sturdy and strong, the chain/blade sharp enough, and the battery lasts a good amount of time. We like that it comes in a zippered bag for clear, easy storage. It definitely should come with a second chain. It would also be nice to have an option of purchasing the product with a second battery to enable longer jobs. Will update as we use it more, but at the current price, it's a good deal for a handy, compact mini-saw that's more environmentally friendly than gas-powered tools. The worklight is a bonus, and we really like it because the way the battery sits on the bottom, it functions as its own stand. It has a handy hanger too, and you can adjust the angle. ... show more

  • Works, battery so so
Style: Chainsaw + Work Light
Got to play with this saw for a bit today, it can cut through most of the things you would think to use it for, but it doesn't replace an actual chainsaw if you have a lot of work to do. The blade is sharp, the oiler seems to work well, and if you're looking for something to keep around for once in a while there's nothing wrong with this tool. The work light is strange, it's fairly awkward and I wasn't the biggest fan. I don't see myself using it much if at all, but it's a nice addition to the set if you don't have one. The bag that everything came in is great, and the gloves/eye protection were a nice touch. My biggest complaint comes in with the battery. It looks exactly like a 20v Dewalt battery, but they are not interchangeable. Since the kit only comes with 1 battery, you need to keep everything together - typically I leave my less used tools in my shed, which a chainsaw would definitely be a less used tool. The charger is really awkward, you plug it in to the wall, then to an adapter, and then finally to the battery. For the price I think there's better options out there, and you would probably be better served at a lower cost just buying an electric chainsaw and dealing with the extension cord. ... show more

  • We had a rough start, but we cut through the problems and are now SOLID!
Style: Chainsaw
Normally I would leave the original (and modified) review(s) here and just add to it, but I feel like this is a special case and needs a far better summary. Originally I said I loved this saw (was the best of all my mini chainsaws). I still honestly feel that way and give the saw itself five stars. I had a problem finding additional blades and contacted the manufacturer, who told me they do not sell individual blades, that they did not recommend any other blades than theirs and that it was a custom, high-strength steel that should last a long time. I argued that should something happen where the blade broke or could no longer be sharpened, I would be stuck with a moderately expensive chain-free chainsaw. The company TOOK THIS TO HEART and announced that they will be ramping up production of the blades so they could offer replacement parts. Folks, this is huge. Not just from the standpoint of the end user - but it shows the dedication of this company to do the right thing and that they are forward thinking enough to realize that some short terms gains would inevitably lead to long term failure. Most amazing, to me, is that one person using the Amazon Vine review system can really make a difference for everyone considering this product. I have amended my review three times now - from 5-stars to 3-stars to 1-star and now back to 5-stars. The company has truly stepped up, and as a consumer, you cannot ask for more. I am PROUD to endorse this product - and the company making it. ... show more

  • extra chain and battery would have meant 5 stars
Style: Chainsaw + Work Light
very nice little chainsaw but no extra chain seems like a pretty serious design oversight....they took the time to include a shop light i'll never need or use and it never crossed their mind a chain would be a better add-in? Again, to be fair the saw is really nice--I also have a 4" hand chainsaw and this is a HUGE improvement in terms of flexibility and options when cutting, but at the same time when my chain goes I don't know what I'll do with this thing if i can't locate a replacement. ... show more
