These are tiny tiny lights that serve only one purpose and I haven’t figured out what that is. It’s barely enough light to illuminate from 10 feet away. Forget being able to see much within 1 foot. The solar light mechanism and different modes are great but pointless since the lights are ineffective. Pure nuanced expression of darkness. Update: I’d like to point out that due to my review, Customer Service reached out to me and we came to a satisfactory resolution for my disappointment. They responded quickly and were very courteous. These colorful solar string lights are a great deal. Plenty of length to go across our large deck. I put one strand underneath the deck where our swings are so we can hang out there at night. They work so great that I bought a 2nd strand to put on the top railing of the deck, too. They turn on soon as it gets dark and depending on how cloudy the day was, stay on between 4-7 hours! ... show more

These solar lights are great and work perfectly. I've had them up for several months on my deck and they reliably turn on when they receive a full charge from the sun. On cloudy days they still get a bit of a charge but won't stay on as long. With a full charge on a sunny day it's not at all unusual for the lights to still be on when we get up around 6am. I'm going to buy more to use for my holiday decorations around the house! I've seen some people comment that they don't put off much light and that is true. I'm not trying to use them as a light source, just for a bit of sparkle and they are perfectly visible for that use. ... show more

I have used these many times and for the purpose in which I use them, they are perfect. I make glass birth baths for gifts and insert the string of solar lights in the base. These lights never fail and last for years.
