    • Less bulb density provides a gentle illumination at a long length
These LED lights have worked well-enough for gently illuminating the social space under my 2nd-floor deck, and do so with a warm white color, keeping things feeling natural at night and not like its a used car lot. The edison bulbs themselves are inside the clear plastic "globe" to keep them protected, and it hasn't caused any excessive heating issues that I could detect, which is a nice way to keep the appearance of the bulb nostalgic and protected. Nine bulbs across a 31ft string (with the bulbs 3ft apart from each other) was really at the limits of what I was expecting as far as light distribution: they're not going to blind you and your guests, but its also not going to be light to read by either. In other words: I don't feel a dimmer is needed for these at all, but its nice to know they are compatible with one if you wanted to take the brightness down even further, but it wouldn't take much. I do appreciate you can string 79 of these together (which...honestly sounds like a stretch given the in-line fuse rating, but I'll leave that up to others to confirm), they include a spare bulb and fuse, plus the bulbs have integrated hooks for hanging should you wish to use those (I didn't need to, I just hung them on existing nails from the prior string). At $20 as of the time of this writing, they're a great value for all they provide. ... show more
