I suggest getting your pets acclimated to its presence so that they can feel comfortable in it when traveling. I hang a hammock in it for my ferrets and they love hanging out in it. It takes a while to get used to the door but it’s escape proof for car travel. Don’t set the door down and lose it like I did. My ferrets took it into their (one of many) hiding spot and I couldn’t see it wedged behind the middle support in the back of the couch 😂

I bought this for my cat, who has super long legs and a really long body. She would lose her mind in the smaller "cat" carriers whenever I had to take her somewhere, so this is perfect to give her enough room to move around but still secure. When my package arrived, I was missing the 4 front door hinges. It was easy enough to call the manufacturer and they sent replacement hinges right away. This actually gave me time to put the crate together without the door, and let my cat acclimate to her new travel house. So, the missing hinges were a win because now the carrier lives in my living room with the door open, and she enjoys taking naps there.

We had been looking for cages for our other newer cats for quite a while. The price of these was terrific. Quality seems good,sturdy. Easy to assemble. Happy that we have separate cages for all of our cats now. So easy to transport especially when needing to get to a safe place because of storms. Very roomy too. The cats love them.

I did not trust the little plastic tabs to hold it all together and added a few bolts to the corners. It’s better but I also find it little hard to open. Wish I had gotten the regular standard type carrier for a few dollars more.

I think some people might get tricked up by the door locking mechanism, which is four-cornered. It's really a no-brainer but even at the vet's the assistants thought there was something wrong with the door, and were warning me about it. Turned out they were locking it on the one side but on the other side the door wasn't locked. But worked really well for my 10 and under cats. Hard-sided and still openings for windows. A good purchase, would recommend for small pets including medium sized cats.

I don't normally leave reviews, and I certainly don't want to knock a product before I've tried it, but I just wanted to note that this carrier was very frustrating to assemble. Some of the parts must have been redesigned since the instructions were printed, because the parts I received aren't the same (and don't appear to function the same) as described in the instructions. For example, because of the way the top door is now designed, the only way I could get the top handle clips to attach was by turning one of the pieces around so that it faces the opposite direction from the way it's pictured in the instructions. Also, as a tip, I'd recommend attaching the top handle clips, the handle, and the top door latches BEFORE snapping the top door in to the fixed hinges, otherwise you can't really get enough leverage to get the top door latches firmly in place. I do like the sturdiness of the carrier and I'm sure it will work well for what I bought it for, now that I've got it assembled.
