Powerful Cooling, Easy to installing

This portable air conditioner has been a great purchase. My first floor is about 750 square feet, and it cooled the entire floor in about 35 minutes, which honestly surprised me because I was worried it wouldn’t be powerful enough. Installation was simple with a standard window. I just connected the two window panels, attached the exhaust hose, and it was ready to go. Even though there were quite a few parts, everything was straightforward. I’m not very handy, but I still finished the installation in about 30 minutes. This unit weighs around 70 to 80 pounds, so it’s a little heavy. Fortunately, it comes with four built-in caster wheels, which make it very easy to move from one place to another. I use it on the first floor, so the noise level is perfectly acceptable to me. However, if you plan to use it in a bedroom and you’re sensitive to noise, it may not be as comfortable for sleeping or relaxing. I also trust this brand because it has built a very good reputation in the Chinese market. More than 20 years ago, I bought one of this brand’s wall-mounted air conditioners for my parents in China, and my family is still using it today. After more than two decades of reliable performance, I have a lot of confidence in this brand’s quality and durability. It also supports app control from my phone, which is very convenient. Overall, I have a lot of confidence in the quality of this air conditioner, and I believe it will continue to perform reliably for many years.

Great portable Ac unit

I've been using this Midea Duo portable AC around half months now, I’m happy with my purchase so far. The dual-hose design makes a noticeable difference, cooling my room much faster and more efficiently than other portable units I've owned. Another feature I love is how quiet it is. Even when running for extended periods, it's quiet enough for sleeping, working, or watching TV without being distracting. The Wi-Fi and smart controls are also convenient, allowing me to adjust settings from my phone. Overall, this is a powerful, energy-efficient, and well-designed portable air conditioner. If you're looking for strong cooling performance without the noise and high energy usage of traditional portable ACs, this is a good choice. The only drawback is the price is a little bit high compared to my old one , but the quality, efficiency, and cooling performance help justify the cost.

You want to be hot? Buy this AC!

You’re sitting there on your couch; Hot, Sweaty, and Miserable. You go on Amazon to find the strongest portable AC possible, and you find this unit. You don’t want to spend the money, but you can’t take another day like you’ve been having. DO NOT BUY THIS. I took out my dying 14k BTU portable AC, insulated the window perfectly and made sure zero air leaks. All the while sweating bullets soaking wet and on the verge of passing out from the heat for an hour. Flip it on at 7pm and it’s 80 degrees outside, AC could not cool past the outside temp. The AC is overpowered for my small 400 sqft space and I ended up reconnecting my old dying unit and it performed better. The AC is not defective as far as I can tell; It blows (slightly cold) air, with a semi-good air output, and it just sucks. Find another product. I write this laying on my couch, burning hot, with the AC being on all day at 60 degrees full blast, watching my electric bill tick higher and higher with no cooling. Keep looking

Great for Cooling; Annoying Wi-Fi Child Function

History. I had a Honeywell portable for 10 years when it died . . . during Covid and the supply disruption. The next two years were filled with hauling Whynter and Black & Decker failure up and down stairs because they kept sending me units that simply didn't work. Finally got a B&D that worked for two years, then didn't. I researched and found solid reviews on Midea and bought it with a lot of hope. Well, it came out of the box easily, installed easily, and works great. Quiet, effective. It is as good as the old Honeywell. This morning I decided to write a review after 10 days of daily use. And when I tried to shut it off, I got an AP code for the first time. That's the *!#*! wi-fi function, something I hate in appliances. I can press a button. Getting the AP code to stop required a search on the net and then pressing buttons in a Soup Nazi sequence, and unplugging the unit. Fun part: I never installed the Midea phone app. I haven't put batteries in the hand held remote. I only press the button. But this thing managed to find my phone (no blue tooth on, no Midea app) today after 10 days of daily use when the phone has been in blue tooth mode. I have no idea why the device is doing this and to disable it I read I have to install the app, connect and use, then go to the app, work menus, and check Strangle Wi-Fi. I find this ridiculous. If I wanted an Internet of Things, I would hire a butler and tell her or him what I wanted. I don't want the potential privacy violation sitting in my bedroom listening or watching me. Anything that connects to the internet has easy potential for abuse. Every device I have that uses Wi-Fi I carefully monitor and regularly disable internet connectivity. You may not share my concerns. If so, if you buy this great cooling unit and forget to activate the Wi-Fi connection. Don't worry. It will nag you. Other than that, this is a great unit for cooling over 500 square feet in a room that is upstairs and facing west. Whether it lasts as long as the old Honeywell (what's your bet), remains to be seen. The B&Ds all started great and then began dying a few weeks later. I've been bitten badly and frequently with applicances made since Covid and do not have the same trust as I did before.

Massive upgrade over single-hose models—and clearing up the BTU confusion!

I bought this unit a month ago after my old portable AC finally gave out, and the difference is night and day. If you are on the fence, the dual-hose design alone makes this a complete game-changer. The Game-Changer: Hose-in-Hose Design My old AC was a standard single-hose model. Single-hose units pull cooled air out of your room to blow heat outside, which creates negative pressure and sucks hot air back in through doors and windows. The Midea Duo uses a hose-within-a-hose setup—one side pulls outside air to cool the compressor, and the other side exhausts it back out. Because it isn't constantly draining your room of chilled air, it cools the space significantly faster and keeps it cool far more efficiently. 14,000 BTU vs. 12,000 BTU (Not Deceptive, Just New Standards!) I've seen some reviews calling the listing deceptive because it mentions both 14,000 BTU and 12,000 BTU SACC. Here is what is actually going on: 14,000 BTU is the old rating standard (ASHRAE), which measured raw cooling capacity in a lab. 12,000 BTU SACC is the newer, federally required Department of Energy standard. SACC accounts for real-world factors like exhaust hose heat radiation. It isn't a bait-and-switch; it's just the industry transitioning between old and new measurement standards. A 12,000 SACC rating is actually exceptionally powerful for a portable unit and easily handles my space. Pros: Whisper Quiet: The inverter compressor throttles down instead of constantly turning off and on with a loud clack Rapid Cooling: Drops the room temp in minutes thanks to the dual-hose circulation Wifi App Control: Easy to set up and control via phone or voice assistant Cons: Hose Thickness: The combined dual-hose is chunkier than a standard single hose, so ensure you have clearance behind the unit. Excellent Portable AC – Powerful, Quiet, and Packed with Smart Features!

I’m very satisfied with this portable air conditioner. It has been working great since the day I installed it. The cooling performance is excellent, and it cools my room much faster than I expected. Within just a few minutes, I can already feel a noticeable difference, even on very hot summer days. The airflow is strong, and there are multiple fan speed settings to choose from, making it easy to find the perfect level of comfort. Even with the powerful airflow, the unit runs much quieter than I expected, so it doesn’t disturb my sleep or daily activities. One of the best features is that it can be controlled in multiple ways. The hose and hose assembly will not stay attached to the panel. DUCT TAPE WAS NEEDED

I have two other Midea portable air conditioners and I really like them. I installed them both and they work fine. . They are the kind that have two separate exhaust/intake hoses, not one big hose like this one. However, I marked this product down because of the design of the exhaust/intake hose. It is very poorly designed. The hose assembly is so heavy that the little clips that are supposed to hold it onto the panel easily let go and do not hold the hose. The panel does not form a seal with the window sash even though I applied the insulation as directed. So my solution as you can see is duct tape. I wish they had used the dual hoses on this model that they used on the 12000 BTU units. I have two of those units and the hoses stay attached very well. UPDATE: I talked to MIdea customer support and they were of no help. First they said that the assembly is not made for left/right sliding windows - even though the instruction manual gives directions for them. And then, they said I need a sliding window adaptor. That is also wrong - one came with the unit and I installed the hose using it as the pictures show. I told them that the unit is defective. They said it is not, that I'm having an installation problem. Then, they said to contact AMAZON about it.

Air conditioner that didn’t last

When I first got it, I loved it. It really worked well. Keeping the house cooler and then we started having trouble with it after five days and it didn’t work anymore. We had to send it back, which was a huge inconvenience. I would be hesitant to buy another one.
