This is the best portable air conditioner I have used so far. The build quality feels very solid, and the unit is heavier than other portable ACs I have owned, which makes it feel well-made and durable. I really like the dual-hose design. Compared with regular portable air conditioners I used before, this one cools the room much faster and feels much more efficient. The installation was also easy, with all the parts included, and the manual was very clear. What surprised me the most is how quiet it is. It is much quieter than any portable AC I have used before. The turbo mode cools the room quickly, and I love that I can control it through the smartphone app. Before I get home from work, I can turn it on and use turbo mode so the room is already cool when I arrive. I also appreciate the different modes, especially the energy-saving mode and smart sleep mode. The sleep mode is very quiet and helps control the room temperature overnight. This is very important to me because my previous portable AC was so loud that it made it hard to sleep. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this air conditioner. The unit itself seems to be decently built and made. However, the assembling materials for the window installation are hot buttered garbage. Some of the cheapest materials and design I have ever encountered. The hoses barely snap together and come apart when you barely touch it. Don’t even get me started on the directions or lack thereof which led to many profanity laden outbursts. I had to watch the YouTube video numerous times just to confirm I was assembling the window hose pieces correctly and was astounded by how terribly they’re made. You’d think for $600+ it would come with something that fits into place a bit better and with some better engineering. Update, 3 days later the internal fan shattered and the whole unit broke after 2 days of mild use. This is ridiculous. Returning the product and stay far away from this junk. ... show more

History. I had a Honeywell portable for 10 years when it died . . . during Covid and the supply disruption. The next two years were filled with hauling Whynter and Black & Decker failure up and down stairs because they kept sending me units that simply didn't work. Finally got a B&D that worked for two years, then didn't. I researched and found solid reviews on Midea and bought it with a lot of hope. Well, it came out of the box easily, installed easily, and works great. Quiet, effective. It is as good as the old Honeywell. This morning I decided to write a review after 10 days of daily use. And when I tried to shut it off, I got an AP code for the first time. That's the *!#*! wi-fi function, something I hate in appliances. I can press a button. Getting the AP code to stop required a search on the net and then pressing buttons in a Soup Nazi sequence, and unplugging the unit. Fun part: I never installed the Midea phone app. I haven't put batteries in the hand held remote. I only press the button. But this thing managed to find my phone (no blue tooth on, no Midea app) today after 10 days of daily use when the phone has been in blue tooth mode. I have no idea why the device is doing this and to disable it I read I have to install the app, connect and use, then go to the app, work menus, and check Strangle Wi-Fi. I find this ridiculous. If I wanted an Internet of Things, I would hire a butler and tell her or him what I wanted. I don't want the potential privacy violation sitting in my bedroom listening or watching me. Anything that connects to the internet has easy potential for abuse. Every device I have that uses Wi-Fi I carefully monitor and regularly disable internet connectivity. You may not share my concerns. If so, if you buy this great cooling unit and forget to activate the Wi-Fi connection. Don't worry. It will nag you. Other than that, this is a great unit for cooling over 500 square feet in a room that is upstairs and facing west. Whether it lasts as long as the old Honeywell (what's your bet), remains to be seen. The B&Ds all started great and then began dying a few weeks later. I've been bitten badly and frequently with applicances made since Covid and do not have the same trust as I did before. ... show more

I've been using this Midea Duo portable AC around half months now, I’m happy with my purchase so far. The dual-hose design makes a noticeable difference, cooling my room much faster and more efficiently than other portable units I've owned. Another feature I love is how quiet it is. Even when running for extended periods, it's quiet enough for sleeping, working, or watching TV without being distracting. The Wi-Fi and smart controls are also convenient, allowing me to adjust settings from my phone. Overall, this is a powerful, energy-efficient, and well-designed portable air conditioner. If you're looking for strong cooling performance without the noise and high energy usage of traditional portable ACs, this is a good choice.     • Working unit better than its assembly parts and instructions

Over the years, I have purchased and used 10 portable window AC units--over time, they have really improved, from my initial units that collected water in a bucker, to ones that collected water in a narrow shelf that you could never empty without spilling the water everywhere, to the six I currently own which cool and dispense the water through the air vent. I wanted to buy two more, replacing an over-aged one and getting one for a room that could use the AC option. I decided to use my AI application to give me a recommendation for the best units on the market today. Midea Duo may actually be the best cooling unit today, but the materials and assembly were ridiculous. Plastic parts were broken, screws were missing, the air vent does NOT seal with the window sliding units, and I suspect I have paid a good deal more so that Midea could provide the option for installation for sliding windows. In spite of providing a combination of 5 plastic slides, I could not make any combination that would fit my windows, so out comes the hack saw to cut the plastic to fit the window. I hope I find the now assembled unit to be an addition that lived up to its Ai recommendation. ... show more

This this is so cool! Like really cool! The dual hose has eliminated the issue with hot air being sucked back into your home. Installation was easy and the adapter for sliding windows works great once you get it put together. It's extremely quiet and moves around easily on its casters. It's currently 92 degrees here at 1:30pm and my entire studio apartment is at a comfortable 70 degrees. Get this A/C unit. You won't be disappointed.
