I don't want to get into being overly wordy on this, but there is ample information on this to be found online. I also used Copilot to help me weed through all the alternatives, and this seemed to be the best of its type. It has a variable -speed inverter, and to keep this brief, a fixed-speed compressor is either off or on full blast, and it kicks on with a big surge. A fixed speed compressor can feel too warm or too cold, especially in a smaller room when you are closer to the unit. The variable-speed inverter runs at low, steady speeds and is far quieter, uses far less electricity because it doesn't kick on with that huge surge; it runs at the minimum speed necessary, and it maintains temperatures efficiently. It maintains the exact temperature you select a lot more gently, and it removes humidity effectively. It costs about half as much to run as a fixed speed compressor. It comes with everything you need to install it, and the installation was easy. When you walk by the window it is vented out of outside, you can feel the warm air being routed out. The room we have it in is an approximately 265 square foot addition to the house, and it has never heated or cooled as well as the rest of the house. When it gets too hot, we flip this on and it takes very little time to reach a comfortable temperature, unlike our central A/C. If you wait until it is too warm, the central A/C is very slow to cool. The room we use it in is where we spend most of our time, and we really like how comfortable we are now in this room during the summer. It is nice and cool, has a remote, and it doesn't make enough noise to bother anything we are doing, including television. Great unit and I am glad we bought it.

While I was originally unhappy with this product, I always wait a while before reviewing. I changed my mind after a few days, and now I love it! The installation was somewhat aggravating. I'm used to assembling things on my own without having to read directions. I had to refer to the instructions several times. I now know why, and appreciate the detailed instructions. I'll let you know right off the one thing I don't like about the unit, then tell you why I now love it. They definitely need to redesign the connection point from the dual-hose to the window kit. It has too many places for air to leak through. Also, the weight of the double hose pulls down on the connector snaps and pulls them out of place every time. The areas where the plastic pieces join to create the connector end is loose and unstable. After a day of snapping it back into place over and over, I decided I had to take action because I knew the hose was going to fall into the window when it separated from the window kit. It would run like that all day with exhaust and moisture pouring into my house while the unit ran continuously to fight the heat from the exhaust while I was at work if I hadn't fixed it with wide, strong electrical tape (as shown in the photo). I joined every connection with heavy-duty electrical tape. I also sealed all the holes in the connector snaps, and finally completely taped down the connector to the window kit to make a solid, tight connection between hose and window kit. It worked out great. This needs to be redesigned for sure. I still gave 5 stars because I think it still deserves it. Now, about the unit. I can't tell you how many air conditioners, both portable and window units, I've tried in my life. I've returned some, and kept some. I usually have about 3 on hand. I live in town homes, and apartments because I move around for work. I've come to find that portable and window units cost less than central air because you can manipulate the cooling to where it's desired. I know my air conditioners, and I know how to make my power bill as low as possible. Until recently, I used a 5,000 BTU unit downstairs and a 7,000 BTU upstairs. My apartment is ~800 sq. ft. I wasn't expecting this newest heat wave with extreme temps and humidity, so I was miserable. I could not keep the upstairs cool with the portable (single hose) unit that had worked just fine in years past. I decided to buy a more powerful unit and have been wanting to try a dual-hose to eliminate the wasted energy caused by the negative air pressure that draws air through any possible place not perfectly sealed in a home. After 8 hours of research, I finally narrowed my choice to the Midea Duo 12,000 BTU (10,000 BTU SACC). After setup, I tried my older single-hose unit upstairs, and put this new one downstairs. The cooling was imbalanced, so I switched them. I still found too much negative pressure coming in the apartment, so I stopped using that one altogether, installed a window unit downstairs, and this one upstairs, and I've never been more comfortable in the Summer! I fell in love with this unit after a couple of days of playing with the temperature, turning the fan back and forth from auto to manual, changing the swing from off to on, and messing with the smart settings. I now have the perfect cooling when I'm home AND away. I know just where to put the settings when I wake up to get ready for work, and when I get home for the day. I now, for the first time ever, allow the unit to run completely on auto mode. I simply change the temperature twice per day. Since the unit is near the window, it reads the temperature slightly higher than it is in the center of the room. This is the case with any indoor unit. I have clocks that show the room temperature, so I always know. I set the unit to 70 when I'm home, which cools the upstairs to 68-69 because I need it cooler as I sleep. I set the unit to 74 when I leave for the day, which cools the upstairs to 72 to 73. It is so quiet! The quietest air conditioner ever. I thought it was a weakling at first because the air is not super powerful coming out, and the quietness of the fan made me skeptical. But, here we are 7 days later and I think I've finally found my perfect unit. I have the swing feature on always now. It disturbs the air and throws it around better. The fan gets lighter or stronger depending on the temperature, but the changing power of the fan doesn't even bother me. I stopped noticing the alternating speed quickly. Now it just sits there, very quietly cooling my upstairs with constant, even cooling and humidity control. The duo feature completely eleminated the wasted cooling as the old unit threw it outside. My electricity bill is changed forever now. I can track my kWh usage down to 15 minute blocks, and I have checked once a day for years. I know exactly how many kWh I use daily. I can see the spikes when I come home or wake up, and the drops when I'm gone. I can even see when my hot water tank kicks on and off lol. This unit helped me get my daily usage to an average of 25 kWh down from 40+. It clearly is the reason my bill dropped the very day I installed it, and has continued this entire week as the extreme heat and humidity continue to punish. I can actually calculate exactly how much I'm saving. This unit will pay for itself in a year! It is as solid as can be, so I have a feeling it will last far beyond that. I also love the remote. It is lighted upon selection, it remembers your settings, it can be pointed in any direction within reason, and has all kinds of settings. I've never been so excited about an air conditioner before. I wanted to write this review to help others to see what I experienced because I rely heavily on reviews when I'm deciding on a purchase. If your situation is similar to mine...buy this. You can always return it if you don't feel the same way. But I think you'll love it!

I ordered two of these units, I walked into a lesson I feel compelled to share as a warning to anyone considering this purchase. The trouble began the moment I powered both units on. One ran as expected; the other produced an enormous, violent racket, like a fan so catastrophically unbalanced you would think it had been dropped. It had not. The packaging was pristine, which leaves a more unsettling truth: this unit was never tested before it left the factory floor. That suspicion only hardened when I noticed the case itself had been cross-meshed during assembly, forcing the shell apart until it cracked. This was not shipping damage. It was shipped already broken. From there, installing the surviving unit began a cascade of design failures. The instruction manual reads like a shorthand memo between engineers, terse, cryptic, and reliant on diagrams so inscrutable you would need prior experience with the system to decipher them. If you are a first-time user, you are on your own. That would be manageable if the hardware itself did not fight you. The window bracket is flimsy, frustratingly difficult to assemble, and designed in a way that leaves gaps all around the frame. Following the installation instructions as written is impossible; you are forced to improvise just to get it to stay in place, a creative exercise no one should have to undertake for a product at this price. Once running, the unit reveals a cruel personality. Change any setting while it is on, and the system punishes you by lurching into an overdrive state that locks on for hours. In this mode, noise levels hit 90 dB, a punishing roar that makes conversation impossible and shatters the advertised 50 dB whisper-quiet claim. The air management design only deepens the frustration. The louvers steer air straight out with no side-to-side adjustment. The real absurdity emerges when you try to direct airflow downward toward the middle of the room. The case geometry immediately redirects that air right back into the unit. The only way to achieve anything close to maximum output is to point the louvers up and slightly outward, limiting your comfort options to a single, rigid position. Then there is the exhaust hose, the linchpin of the entire portable AC concept. It attaches to its bracket so weakly that it detaches with almost no provocation. Once separated, reattaching it is a grueling ordeal. The bracket itself clips into the window frame using a living hinge that looks, quite frankly, engineered to fail. When that thin strip of plastic finally snaps, and it will, the hose can no longer engage the window bracket at all. At that moment, your air conditioner transforms into an expensive, noisy paperweight. What makes this flaw unforgivable is how clearly intentional it feels, as if the product was designed for permanent installation only, punishing anyone who needs to disassemble and store it between seasons. To be fair, the second unit that did run and managed to pull the air temperature down 20 degrees cooler than outside. During the first week of operation we saw outdoor temperatures range from 78 through 98 degrees Fahrenheit. It was great when the outside temperature was 78, but when it's 98 outside, the indoor temperature was in the upper 75+. Best of all, according to the marketing material, the unit will dehumidify (they call it dry mode). While in this mode it managed to keep a 12'x15' room at 72% humidity regardless of temperature. That is not a selling point. 72% humidity makes the air feel clammy, creating a very uncomfortable, sticky feeling that lingers on your skin. A 20-degree drop means nothing when the air itself feels like a damp towel. When I contacted the company's customer support to ask about this, I was met with debates rather than solutions. They argued with me about what I was experiencing, and ultimately they told me the unit is not a dehumidifier, even though their own marketing materials clearly states otherwise. After that exchange, they ghosted me completely. No follow-up, no resolution, no accountability. I wanted these units to work. I did my research, paid the price, and opened the boxes with genuine excitement. I received a string of cascading design betrayals, capped off by a product that arrived broken from a factory that clearly never checked, a surviving unit that turns your room into a swamp, and a customer service team that refuses to stand behind their claims. If you are considering this purchase, learn from my experience. There are better ways to stay cool than getting burned.

Really happy with this unit thus far. This is the 4th Portable A/C unit I've purchased over the past 17 years or so and the last one was about 5 years ago. The technology seems to have really advanced in those 5 years and all I could find were the dual hose A/C units. I didn't want to deal with 2 hoses and this specific one was one of the highest rated units on Amazon and other review sites. I like that, while big, the two hoses are in one instead of two separate hoses. Every one of the AC units I purchased have had more problems with the window attachment and hoses than anything else. I still have one from 15 years ago still going strong but the hose and window attachment have been repaired and duct taped to no end.. I feel like this hose and window attachment will last a lot longer. The unit, window attachment and hose appear to be well made and first the time ive ever been able to get a good closed seal. This unit is very quiet, surprisingly so and works really well. Quickly cools down our bedroom and they included everything needed to make a perfect fit in our above average size large window which I also really like. The only real issue I had is that the window attachment where the hose is installed has noticable gaps. I'm a tad worried about how this will be when it rains as currently have no plans to put it away after summer like I have with my other units. Considering I have 1 unit that's still going strong after 13 or so years I just hope this one lasts as long.

I've owned the Midea duo for a month, I bought this after my central AC unit died, it was a 20 year old unit. in the first month of use this thing has been more efficient than my previous AC unit by a lot. My energy useage this past June was half of what it was last year based on the amount of cooling needed. These inverter units are fantastic at keeping a space cool, and not be loud and clunky turning on. I can barely hear this thing at night. Tracking it's energy useage this thing does not stay at 100%, in fact it's usually running at lower wattages. I've included some images of my Tapo energy tracking plug for you to have an idea of the stages of power this thing uses, and depending on the temperatures thoughtout the day or week, it may not even ramp up to 100%. I hope this kind of information is helpful for someone looking at one of these. As for the set up and connecting to the window? This portable AC unit is likely to perform better in a vertical sliding window, but I have a horizontal sliding window and the adapter for this to work orients the dual hose in a more narrow orientation by default, it still works but I'd like to perform better in a horizontal orientation. This comes with foam tape and foam for the window, make sure you use them, they're needed to seal gaps. Use the foam tape on the panels not your window... like me lol. There is also a foam for the panel it's self. make sure you use, it's meant to help insulate from outside temps and improve your efficiency. Additionally, I would recommend some kind of HVAC Tape to help seal gap but the hose and adapters, this will help with better airflow. This AC is very efficient for the type of AC that it is... If you can use a window unit or are in a country with a Midea Portasplit, that would be a better device to use. The window counterpart of this device is likely to more efficient still. For what this is, it's been a life saver during this midwest heatwave, and I'm glad I ordered it before it got really bad. It couldn't help me during the recent power outage, but it is what it is. Midea is currently developing some amazing cooling products and heat pump products, it's looking like it may change the way I cool my house in the future.

It works well and it's pretty quiet considering the amount of area it covers. We use it in our living room. It definitely cooled the room down. My one down-side is that the connection from the hose to the window is very flimsy and kept disconnecting. It's most likely because the window part is made of flimsy plastic. There's nothing we could do expect tape it to keep it connected.

The looks of the AC is very nice, the light and black surface look very high end. I love this AC, it’s got the wheels(very smooth) under which make it very easy to move around. It was also very simple and easy when I installed the AC, just combining the pieces together and done. The wind blows very cold air and it’s not very loud when I turn on the sleeping mode. My living room is about 400-500sq ft, this AC cools my room down very fast. Also with the remote it’s a lot easier, I’m still trying to figure out the phone app with the AC but this is definitely worth the money.
