I bought mine based upon Consumer Reports’ praise for these and reviews here and I haven’t been disappointed. You really couldn’t ask for a better dehumidifier. I recommend this thing to people all the time. It’s quite compact but holds way more water than most dehumidifiers twice it’s size. It’s pretty quiet for what it is. It’s very effective. Got a dank mildewy basement apartment well under control in just a few days and kept it that way. Brought a 1200 square foot apartment from 65+% humidity down to 35% in just under 4 days of running around the the clock and the mildew smell was 90% gone. Only had to empty the bucket once a day and the app tells you how full the bucket is at anytime and even estimates when it will be 100% full. It switches itself off when it’s full obviously. It even has a spigot like thing on the bottom so you can connect a hose for continuous draining if needed. It’s also quite reasonable on electricity use *for a dehumidifier*. Bear in mind, dehumidifiers do use a lot of electricity if you run them all the time. Think small window air conditioner, not box fan (in terms of electricity use) and you have the idea. Really the only suggestion I could make as an improvement would be to add caster wheels to the bottom and perhaps a retractable power cord like some vacuums have. Oh, and it even has an app to control it which works via Wi-Fi. So you could literally turn it on or off when you’re at a friends house or work if you want to. You can also set it to maintain a certain humidity automatically. NOTE: It does NOT have wheels, but it does have sturdy handles. If you can lift 25 lbs off the floor with one hand, you’ll have no trouble carting it around or emptying the bucket. I would say that an elderly person or a child under 13 or so might struggle a bit to lift the the unit and move it around or lift the bucket when it’s full though. If you plan to move it around a lot, you could put it on a sturdy, low profile platform with wheels. If the weight is an issue, just empty the bucket when it’s half-full and you’ll probably make do just fine. Bear in mind, you do need to lift the entire unit UP and OFF of the bucket it sits upon in order to empty it. If lifting 20-25 lbs with one arm isn’t an issue for you — then you’ve found your dehumidifier, your search is over. It’s a well-engineered and well-built unit that’s worth every penny. Buy this or one of the similar smaller or larger cube-shaped Midea units and I’m confident you’ll be pleased with the results.

It works! I live in a high-humidity area. I purchased a house that was built in the 1950s. It has moisture and mold issues. None were visible due to everything being recently painted. I learned of the problem after I moved in. I have been fighting humidity and moisture for the entire six months that I have been here. I have a one-room dehumidifier that is a few years old. It is not Energy Star compliant and certainly had an impact on my power bill. It did a good job for one room only, but it also put out a great deal of heat. I decided to do a little research and purchase a whole-house dehumidifier. The Midea brand has great reviews on Consumer Reports and other sites, but the reviews on Amazon are not as good. The main complaints were due to Weight and maneuverability issues. I'm a little on the old side (Shhh...Don't tell anyone.) So, that was something I felt could be a big drawback for me. Long story short, I decided to purchase another brand that had a five-star rating here on Amazon. Reviews for that one mentioned ease of operation, quietness, convenience, etc. All of those comments were true. However, I needed something that removed the humidity more than I needed convenience. That one supposedly covered a much wider area. Sadly, that was not the case. It barely made a dent in the humidity, if any. I have hydrometers in every room, and every one of them measured much, much higher humidity than the display on the 5-star, convenient dehumidifier. I have that one back in the box, and it will be returned. I decided to try the Midea 35 Pint Cube to see if I could handle it. I do agree that it is a little on the heavy side and a little more difficult to lift off the heavy (to an old lady), top part of the cube to empty the bottom. However! It removes the humidity as promised! Every hydrometer in every room of my house measures within 1 or 2 points of what the Midea Cube hydrometer says. This dehumidifier is keeping this old house within comfort and mold-inhibiting levels. The other dehumidifier didn't come close. So, if having a slim, lightweight, easy-to-handle dehumidifier is what's important to you, you won't like the Midea Cube. If you want a dehumidifier that does exactly what it is supposed to do, you will love the Midea. It's heavy and awkward, but this old lady can handle it; you can too. I consider it a strength-building exercise, and I lift with my knees. I almost forgot to mention (it's that age thing) that it also powers on less often than that other piece of junk...I mean dehumidifier that I tried first. It's bound to have a lower impact on my power bill. I truly wish I could give the Midea Cube 10 stars ten stars. If you want the performance that you are paying for, buy the Midea Cube. If you live in a low-humidity area and just want to purchase a dehumidifier for some strange reason that I can't imagine, go elsewhere.

Final Update July 2025: The fan ceased to spin. Called customer service and the process was a tad confusing but ultimately they said they will cut me a check for the purchase price of the product since it is within warranty. Can't ask for much more than that. December 2024: Very happy with this thing. Helped a ton with black mold in my unit that management wouldn't help with. I pull about 5 gallons a day out of the air in my houston 700sf apartment currently. Smart features are great. The positioning of the back vent is moronic - should be on front. Not a big deal though and so far no other complaints. November 2024: Preliminary review. Will update when I have something to add. This thing is big when deployed and kinda unseemly amongst modern decor. It works very well. Hydrogometer is accurate. Can't speak to reliability yet. Smart functions are very useful and easy to set up. (Hint: get "Smart Home" app not Midea Air app) Large reservoir means you only need to dump water one or two times a week. Will not overfill. Extremely heavy. Quieter than Coway air purifier. Comes with wheels so easy to move. Has built in auto-stop so it won't pull too much moisture and cause damage. The design has some odd issues that just seem like common sense.... there is a vent on the back and not on the front so i guess the most energy efficient option is to turn it 180⁰ away from you... Which also causes issues with the cord management... I think that may be a heat vent so may be okay pointed towards a wall..? It definitely does create some heat. The dang thing will not drip but pour water on the floor when you remove it from the bucket... But hey you have a dehumidifier so that carpet will dry real quick. And if you turned it off a while in advance i guess you could avoid this annoyance. Honestly very happy with it. Wish it had a black option. Wish it wasnt so heavy so I didnt have to have it on the ground. Paid like $190 for the 3500sqft one. I'm willing to deal with all the issues I mentioned as long as it lasts a couple of years. If it dies in less than 1 or 2 years then it was overpriced.

This is amazing! I live in Florida with extreme humidity. We keep it set on 50%. We have it hooked up to an "INKBIRD" that controls it. So its guaranteed to shut off and on by itself. We leave it on in our living room 24/7. And it takes care of a 1500 sq. ft. home. We no longer smell mold anywhere in this 78 year old Florida concrete block home. And its helped my health big time! I have COPD Emphysema and my braething is much better. The price is great. We love Midea products. And there customer service is amazing!!!! It had a filter that you need to clean every couple weeks

I have had problems with the control panel from the start. The panel is unresponsive consistently. I contact customer service, which is useless. I basically "trick" the panel into working but that no longer works. It's a good unit when it works, but....... I'm out of warranty so I'm screwed but I would have attempted to fix it if there were human beings available. Nothing we buy today is perfect, but good customer support can get you close to that. Midea has failed me on that metric. I have other standard dehumidifiers that just keep on ticking. I don't recommend Midea for purchase.

I bought this for use in my bedroom, although it's a little overkill for the space, I was fine with that as long as it preformed well. One thing I failed to notice, and I wish I had, was that the main air intake is on the back of the unit and the front of it is just a blank piece of plastic. The major problem with this is that if you place it against a wall (like a normal human would) on a desk or a shelf in my case, or something like that, instead of the middle of the room, then the main air intake will be blocked! There are smaller intakes on the side, but it would have to run twice as long just to do the same job as it would if the main intake was not against the wall blocking the airflow. Maybe if you live a life where you pile things in a heap in the middle of the floor of rooms with cords and hoses running everwhere, then go ahead and throw this on top of the pile and it will actually work as intended, or if you want to sit it on a pedestal in the middle of the room and use it as a conversation piece, then by all means proceed, but if you are like most humans, you will place it against the wall in some fashion, be it floor, shelf, desk, end table etc., especially if you are using the drain hose and not the bucket. The manual states that it needs 8" of clearance just to get the air into it, again it doesn't pull air in from the front for some dumb reason, and the unit is 15" long meaning that it needs to take up 2' of space from the wall, and its still pulling air in from behind it, not the actual space you want to dehumidifiy. That's right, for it to work correctly you have to face it AWAY from the room you want to dehumidifiy, effectively the rear (with cords, hoses and all the rest) is actually the front, and boy is it ugly. This thing is assbackwards, literally. Does it work? Sure. Does it have to make noise longer reducing its lifespan, use more electricity and work harder while sticking out 25 inches into my room and facing backwards to work as intended? It sure does. I guess some people will say, "Just turn it around and face the rear forward", but this thing is supposedly for residential use, aka your home. It's already bad enough that it looks like a mop bucket, which by the way the handle only folds to the front, in case you ever momentarily forgot how much it looks like a mop bucket, the handle will be dangling there to remind you. They at one point had older models in black, which looked way better and you did not have to clean every day just to keep White, why they dont offer this one in black is beyound me. Now, I have to show the cords hoses and all the other stuff too just for it to work as effectively as it should? This kids, is what is referred to as design flaw. Somewhere along the way, be it a corporate board room or a bunch of dudes with too many degrees, they forgot to ask a normal human in a normal house what they thought, and that's how we got here. The reviews all say it works great, I'm sure it does, but I'll never know because I'm not putting it in the middle of any room in my house, pointing it backwards and then running cords and hoses all across the floor to it so that it preforms at its best, it's just not going to happen. It will go up against my wall, on a shelf, with the cords and hoses hidden behind it where they can't be seen, and that is the level it will prefrom at for me and most other human beings in a human house, that level is the real level of its performance as far as I, and im sure most people, are concerned. This was not at all designed with that understanding, which is strange because it has the word residential right on it. Anyway, I'm just writing the review I wish I had read before I bought it based on the good reviews about how well it worked, which left out how it had to be positioned to achieve those results, aka in a manner that no sane person would in their house. I will leave a picture of the actual front of this unit, the side that should face the area you want to dehumidifiy, the real front face, if you want it to work as well as all the reviews say and not have to have it sticking two feet out from the wall into your room. In case someone from Midea reads this, the air intake (and only the air intake, no ports, cords, hoses, ugly branding etc.) should be on the front of the unit, so that it faces into the room we want to dehumidifiy, not away from it. It should not have to be placed away from the wall to function nor should it pull air in from behind it, but should instead pull air in from in front of it, which will almost always be the area we are trying to dehumidifiy, not the space behind it. Additionally, it should be offered in black and maybe have the handle fold to the rear where it can be hidden instead of flopping halfway down the front making it look more like a mop bucket than it already does. You have made a residential product, so please always consider how this will appear in someone's home where they have to see it everyday and make adjustments with that in mind as to how it will function as opposed to using it in some other setting. Please understand that "residential" means our home and that it should be designed to look AND function in that setting, not an office or Industrialized setting. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go figure out how I'm going to build an enclosure around this thing that will allow me to place it on a shelf against the wall, which will then force me to have the ugly rear with the ports, cords, hoses and all the rest facing out into my room. Maybe the enclosure I now have to design and build will hide it all to make it bearable enough to look at everday with the rear facing out, but this is not a problem that I wanted to have after buying such a pricey product, yet here I am with it, and with the accompanying headache.

If anyone is looking for a dehumidifier for their space - I just got this one - we have an asthmatic, chronic upper respiratory problems paired with rhinitis cat 😸 - so the air quality and control is very important in this household. Along with myself having chronic health conditions it has certainly been a journey to start getting our home atmosphere under control. I reallly like this and this is what I like about it: ✨ when you first get it if your humidity is out of control, which in my brain is anything above 65% - there is an option to keep it running constantly which helps get those numbers down quick ✨ once you get it to where you want it you can then choose the option to set it to what you need - for instance I choose 50% - so it will turn on when needed to keep the humidity to that ✨ it comes with a draining tube and if you use that you can compact the dehumidifier into the part where it stores water for more living space ✨ last but not least you can also choose how full you want the tank to get before you need to empty it so if you don’t wish to carry a heavy bucket you can set it to low

So far so good! I’ve had my dehumidifier for about two months and it has worked beautifully. The humidity levels in our Florida home were regularly above 60% and this keeps them in the 40s. I love the larger storage tank and I find I only have to empty it every two or 2 1/2 days. The one thing I would warn, is because the tank has a larger capacity, when it’s full of water it can be heavy. I’m almost 60 years old and able to roll it to our back patio and then lift it to dump it. But 10 years from now, it might be too heavy for me. We’ll see. The nice thing is you can control the amount of water the tank stores before the unit automatically shuts off, so if it’s too heavy for you, you could always put it on the lowest storage setting. I found that the unit was easy to assemble and easy to operate. I do recommend it.
