  • Works like a charm! Controllable on my iPhone!
Style: 4,500 Sq. Ft.
Well I knew I needed a dehumidifier for my cabin in GA & this just fit the ticket! Even though I have a nice LG window AC unit it didn't seem to do much about the humidity down here in the middle of the Summer! This unit pulls the humidity out of the one room I spend most of my time in: my kitchen & seating/eating/computing area. It's not a huge space but it does have a high ceiling. When it's pouring down here in the Summertime in GA & the humidity is 100% I can now enjoy 45% humidity in my kitchen area. You just set the controls [on your iPhone] to what Humidity you want & this unit will get you there & then maintain that humidity level. 2 things to note; 1) if you have this dialed down for lowest possible humidity it will probably be on all the time which does produce some heat from the fan. Just something to keep in mind. 2) this unit is gravity drain so your drain will need to be lower than near the bottom of this dehumidifier-there is no pump. Finally, I really like how I can adjust the humidity level on my iPhone! I'm very happy with it--no more muggy days & nights in the cabin! ... show more

  • Works great….highly recommended
Style: 3,500 Sq. Ft.
My Midea 35 pint cube dehumidifier was delivered three weeks ago. Initially I was a skeptical due to its shape and design but that skepticism was quickly replaced with admiration. The ease of unpacking it, the ease of downloading the app and the ease of programming the settings through the app was much simpler than I had imagined. It has been running for three weeks now and my basement has maintained the humidity level that I set on the app. I am even notified when the bucket needs emptying which is not as often as a traditional dehumidifier due to the bucket size. It’s quiet, easy to move around and after three weeks of ownership I couldn’t be happier. Time will tell how durable it is. ... show more

  • Poor design of air intake makes it only suitable for use in the middle of a room.
Style: 3,500 Sq. Ft.
I bought this for use in my bedroom, although it's a little overkill for the space, I was fine with that as long as it preformed well. One thing I failed to notice, and I wish I had, was that the main air intake is on the back of the unit and the front of it is just a blank piece of plastic. The major problem with this is that if you place it against a wall (like a normal human would) on a desk or a shelf in my case, or something like that, instead of the middle of the room, then the main air intake will be blocked! There are smaller intakes on the side, but it would have to run twice as long just to do the same job as it would if the main intake was not against the wall blocking the airflow. Maybe if you live a life where you pile things in a heap in the middle of the floor of rooms with cords and hoses running everwhere, then go ahead and throw this on top of the pile and it will actually work as intended, or if you want to sit it on a pedestal in the middle of the room and use it as a conversation piece, then by all means proceed, but if you are like most humans, you will place it against the wall in some fashion, be it floor, shelf, desk, end table etc., especially if you are using the drain hose and not the bucket. The manual states that it needs 8" of clearance just to get the air into it, again it doesn't pull air in from the front for some dumb reason, and the unit is 15" long meaning that it needs to take up 2' of space from the wall, and its still pulling air in from behind it, not the actual space you want to dehumidifiy. That's right, for it to work correctly you have to face it AWAY from the room you want to dehumidifiy, effectively the rear (with cords, hoses and all the rest) is actually the front, and boy is it ugly. This thing is assbackwards, literally. Does it work? Sure. Does it have to make noise longer reducing its lifespan, use more electricity and work harder while sticking out 25 inches into my room and facing backwards to work as intended? It sure does. I guess some people will say, "Just turn it around and face the rear forward", but this thing is supposedly for residential use, aka your home. It's already bad enough that it looks like a mop bucket, which by the way the handle only folds to the front, in case you ever momentarily forgot how much it looks like a mop bucket, the handle will be dangling there to remind you. They at one point had older models in black, which looked way better and you did not have to clean every day just to keep White, why they dont offer this one in black is beyound me. Now, I have to show the cords hoses and all the other stuff too just for it to work as effectively as it should? This kids, is what is referred to as design flaw. Somewhere along the way, be it a corporate board room or a bunch of dudes with too many degrees, they forgot to ask a normal human in a normal house what they thought, and that's how we got here. The reviews all say it works great, I'm sure it does, but I'll never know because I'm not putting it in the middle of any room in my house, pointing it backwards and then running cords and hoses all across the floor to it so that it preforms at its best, it's just not going to happen. It will go up against my wall, on a shelf, with the cords and hoses hidden behind it where they can't be seen, and that is the level it will prefrom at for me and most other human beings in a human house, that level is the real level of its performance as far as I, and im sure most people, are concerned. This was not at all designed with that understanding, which is strange because it has the word residential right on it. Anyway, I'm just writing the review I wish I had read before I bought it based on the good reviews about how well it worked, which left out how it had to be positioned to achieve those results, aka in a manner that no sane person would in their house. I will leave a picture of the actual front of this unit, the side that should face the area you want to dehumidifiy, the real front face, if you want it to work as well as all the reviews say and not have to have it sticking two feet out from the wall into your room. In case someone from Midea reads this, the air intake (and only the air intake, no ports, cords, hoses, ugly branding etc.) should be on the front of the unit, so that it faces into the room we want to dehumidifiy, not away from it. It should not have to be placed away from the wall to function nor should it pull air in from behind it, but should instead pull air in from in front of it, which will almost always be the area we are trying to dehumidifiy, not the space behind it. Additionally, it should be offered in black and maybe have the handle fold to the rear where it can be hidden instead of flopping halfway down the front making it look more like a mop bucket than it already does. You have made a residential product, so please always consider how this will appear in someone's home where they have to see it everyday and make adjustments with that in mind as to how it will function as opposed to using it in some other setting. Please understand that "residential" means our home and that it should be designed to look AND function in that setting, not an office or Industrialized setting. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go figure out how I'm going to build an enclosure around this thing that will allow me to place it on a shelf against the wall, which will then force me to have the ugly rear with the ports, cords, hoses and all the rest facing out into my room. Maybe the enclosure I now have to design and build will hide it all to make it bearable enough to look at everday with the rear facing out, but this is not a problem that I wanted to have after buying such a pricey product, yet here I am with it, and with the accompanying headache. ... show more

  • Quality
Style: 4,500 Sq. Ft. with Pump
Initial first few hours of use: Set up was easy. Have one with pump feature-make sure read all instructions as there are places where it mentions “bucket-less” mode needs to be turned off to put in pump mode. No tools needed to assemble. It is compact I feel for the 4500 sq ft rating. Many features and options of using -more than other dehumidifiers I have owned. Really are four distinct ways to set up to drain water: Bucket, ( can regulate how full to fill bucket before emptying), bucket-less draining, Gravity hose draining, and pump draining ( 14’ height). Handles on top unit and bottom bucket are comfortable and sturdy. Casters installed in 1 minute-no tools required. 1800+ sq ft top level of ranch, dropped humidity level 10% less than an hour. This unit is very quiet compared to others I have had-and I have run it only on continuous mode so far, ( instructions say to do this first 24 hrs). App unable to comment on since I had to do a reset, on my I-phone and it is not allowing access to app store . I am encouraged by the mention of how to service unit- I know strange. The others humidifiers owned have all broken down after just out of warranty coverage due to freon leaks out. And none of them mentioned a service center or even if they could be recharged/repaired. None of them even had a low side freon recharge port -you had to buy a kit and buy very expensive freon to attempt it yourself-as no local HVAC shop would perform work. I don’t know if this one can recharged or not-just encouraging it mentions repairs in manual. Also, make sure whatever dehumidifier you get its not using the older style freon type. If it is make sure it will accept, if needed, the newer types freon industry is transitioning to. It may be on sale for a reason. So far so good, this unity is no louder than a floor fan on high- possibly quieter. I would buy again as long as it proves to be reliable in the long term. ... show more
