It proved to be a very good choice; the quality is excellent. The unit comes with a stand, making installation very convenient. The U-shaped design saves space, and most importantly, the machine runs very quietly and distributes air evenly. It also comes with a portable remote control, so I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to operate it. This is fantastic for me. We are extremely happy with this purchase. The build quality and design impressed us. The U shape structure is very smart, it allows the window to close more securely and help reduce outside noise. The back of the unit is too fragile without protection like a metal grid or something (see photo of exposed fins). A family cat tried climbing the unit, not only bending the exposed fins but causing serious damage to the fragile silver tubes that the fins are attached to. The cat was also injured by the sharp fins (see photo of dried blood on unit from a bleeding paw). If the back of this unit is so fragile and sharp then there should be some type of protection from animals, children, hail, accidental hits, and other damage. I've filed a report with the consumer product safety commission because I think this is a danger to children and pets. I like the unit otherwise but this fragility with inadequate protection at the back is not acceptable. I have manually attached a stainless steel grid to the back to try to prevent further damage and injuries. I contacted Midea support about this and they were polite but of no real help and did not acknowledge any problem or deficiency with the design. ... show more
