I’m very impressed with this Midea 6,000 BTU U-shaped window air conditioner. The U-shaped design is a huge improvement over traditional window units because it allows you to keep the window partially open while still having the AC installed. It cools the room quickly and does a great job maintaining a comfortable temperature without constantly running at full power. It’s also surprisingly quiet, which makes a big difference when you’re watching TV or trying to sleep. I really like the inverter technology and the ability to control the unit from my phone. The remote is convenient too, and the Alexa/Google Assistant compatibility is a nice bonus. Installation was straightforward, and the unit feels well-built. For a 6,000 BTU unit, it puts out plenty of cooling power for a bedroom, office, or smaller living space. Overall, this is an excellent window AC for the money. Quiet operation, great cooling, smart features, and the U-shaped design make it a big step up from a traditional window unit. I would definitely recommend it.

Before I purchased this machine about 4 days ago I had an 8000 BTU machine in the same room I'm glad they finally came out with a 6000 BTU machine which is a better size for the room I have it in. My other machine was part of the recall that involved the drain pan becoming moldy I'm glad that they finally addressed that with the drain plugs that they install on the new units a quick note about that though if you live in a really humid environment like the Midwest I would actually recommend taking the drain plug out pushing the little fiber core the white thing out of the bottom of it which is relatively easy to do and then reinstalling the rubber bung with the open hole in the bottom of it that'll keep the drain tray of the machine from rusting around the edges of the hole but it'll allow all of the excess moisture to drain. Noise level, it's not loud at all in fact compared to my 8000 BTU version from 2022 it's virtually silent they fixed the inverter wine that the old one used to make which is a much welcomed upgrade you can't hear the compressor start and stop nearly as clearly as you could with the older unit which I consider to be a benefit from the outside the condenser fan can occasionally get a little loud but loud in the sense that it sounds like someone running a table fan near you still generally a very quiet machine. I do like that they added a flash cool button to the front of the machine which for all intensive purposes does the same thing as the boost mode in my opinion it allows the machine to overclock its compressor to 7200 to 7400 BTU which does consume extra power but can take the edge off of the heat in a room rather quickly. The big deal here is that button means you no longer need to log into the app to use the machines boost mode feature the app does still give you the ability to control the fan speed much more accurately between 0 and 100% in steps instead of just three basic speeds and Auto and it allows you to monitor the energy consumption of the machine and check the outdoor temperature at the unit itself which I find to be more accurate than the local weather app but it can be affected by the Sun. My only real complaint about this machine is the price point for 6,000 BTU $370 is pretty steep but it's more efficient than other machines buy a good margin it does have some very smart features and it is a unique design so I can forgive it for the price. Helpful tips, I recommend having two people to lift the machine and put it in the window getting it out of the curtain by yourself is possible but is exceedingly difficult if you're not super strong I recommend lifting it from the larger end that has the condenser and compressor inside because it's made entirely of metal on that end the other side is made of plastic and I don't think it could hold the weight of the machine if you tried lifting it from there, the only tools you'll need for the installation is a pair of scissors though you can tear the insulation foam by hand if you really needed to a serrated kitchen knife for cutting the foam block side panels down to the right size and a Philips head screwdriver it's a pretty simple install it'll take about 25 minutes if you're putting it in an empty window and in my case only took about 3 minutes of time to install because I was placing it where the 8000 BTU machine was sitting on the same bracket, all of the machines in the u-shaped lineup use the same cabinet size and they will all sit on the same size bracket so swapping one for another is a pretty quick affair. I see a lot of comments complaining about rattling if your unit is rattling I recommend pulling the two little plastic locking tabs on the back of the indoor unit out so that they're touching the window and then try to gently pull the indoor side of the machine forward just a bit while lifting those plastic tabs out one extra click this preloads them against the window and keeps them from rattling against it constantly. To help seal out some drafts I would recommend going to Walmart and finding either foil tape or a duct tape color that closely matches the color of your window sill and sealing around the foam blocks wherever they touch the bottom and side of the window sash layering them so that the bottom of one strip sits over the top of the one beneath it this helps shed water away from the window and keeps drafts from blowing around the edges of the foam blocks and if it's done correctly it can actually look pretty clean.

Our upstairs is a converted attic with a west facing bedroom that was becoming unbearable in the summer. We bought the 6,000 BTU unit and we love it. It cools off the fairly large bedroom nicely, and I can't believe how quiet it is. It's quieter than a regular tower fan. It was pretty easy to install, though it did take two of us. This unit was a little more expensive than other window units in the store, but you can't beat the efficiency and low noise of this thing.

I specifically purchased these for the smart control. We have central air but my three kids complain constantly that its hot in their rooms. So I bought each of them one of these. They make the room cold in minutes. They are ultra quiet. They dont block up a lot of the window so you can still see out of them. I use them in Home Assistant and they work perfectly. My kids would leave them running 24/7, so when Home Assistant sees that one of them left the house it turns it off and when they get home it turns it back on. The only thing I'll say is the installation of these is a little different. By the second one I got it, but I had to watch the video multiple times. I found that other people's videos were way clearer and explained more than the one that Midea put out. Overall I love these and would absolutely purchase again.

The design of this air conditioner is wonderful. I only have the window up a few inches so the fillers on the sides don't block much sun light. This runs very quiet and cools the room quickly. It has many good functions such as running in eco mode, can be used as just a fan, also a dehumidifier. It has a remote control and you can turn off the led lights at night. Excellent product.

Once installed, it’s immediately clear, this is the best you can get for a window unit, the cooling is excellent and I’m still in awe of how quiet it is. This is a modern design. Unfortunately, I have windows that don’t fit the instructions - they aren’t “flat” or “lip” (the options in the instructions), instead they have a drop and then are sort of slanted. They’re also 2 inches longer than the anti-tip rails and foam pieces would accomodate. I made do, and, all things considered, it wasn’t as difficult or frustrating as it could have been. The design seemed to account for an off-the-beaten-path installation, only really requiring a 5 inch metal bracket to be in the center of the window. It’s better than all of the rest, why not 5 stars? - It would be better if it accommodated windows that are a few inches wider, by including additional hard foam pieces. 3-4 inches square space is not great to seal with soft foam. Also, the anti-tip rails should be at least 2” longer on each side. - It would be better if they Included an optional taller bracket (similar height to the “lock” bracket, but full length, like the bracket intended for use) So basically, support windows that are a little wider, and windows that have the opposite of a lip, like mine - they’re flat, then drop 1/2” to another flat surface.

I purchased this unit on 3/31/26. It was manufactured 11/2025. It is model MAW06V1UWT 6000 BTU. I am incredibly regretful that I purchased this. I’m not sure how there are so many glowing reviews. I will go over a few problems, the worst of which is mold growth and I encourage you to look up these problems because I am not the only one with the issues I'll go over. Skip this unit and find something else. I’ll start by noting that the Installation was followed exactly as directed in their written instructions and online video. This was probably one of the most difficult window AC unit installations that I have ever dealt with, but it was done correctly. I have followed their maintenance procedures to reduce the chances of mold. I even confirmed, with their support team, their best practices, within about 3 weeks of receiving the unit. I was hoping to be proactive. Unfortunately, I have found massive mold growth, nonetheless. I confirmed, on Midea’s site, that my unit is definitely not part of the recall. If you look at one of the pictures, there is a white substance all over the fan blade. Not being sure whether this was dust or something else, I used a sterile instrument to take a sample of the substance, which I then transferred over to a sterile container. I added some 3% hydrogen peroxide, which began to bubble violently around the material that I had put into the container. That’s an indication that the peroxide was decomposing due to contact with organic material. Mold is certainly something that would cause what I observed. So here I am, with a moldy unit which is less than 3 months old and I paid close to $350 for it, too. One of the reasons I took a closer look at the blades was because I have been waking up congested and with a scratchy throat, daily. Others who have been in the room for at least a couple of hours, have noted similar things. I now have no options except to find a different unit to purchase and then take a hit on this purchase. I’m beyond furious. I had anticipated that the unit would eventually grow some mold, given that I have had that occur with other units, from various companies, in prior years. However, with each of those units, I would typically get at least two seasons of use before noticing any type of mold growth within the ac or on the blades. On other units, the blades are often still visible and possible to inspect if you look through the vents with a flashlight. I won’t go into all of the design flaws that I have observed, but I will note a handful and if you do a search online, you will find that my experiences are extremely common. 1) The dust filter is not effective since it has plenty of places around it where air can go right around it. That allows dust to start building on the evaporator, which is nice and damp since that’s the part of the AC that gets cold and therefore, where moisture condenses. Organic material within a dark and damp environment is ideal for mold growth. So even if you clean the filter daily, that's not going to solve this issue. 2) One of their apparent updates to this model, was to install new drain plugs which have a core which looks similar to a cigarette filter. The idea is to prevent an overflow of water by allowing some of it to slowly drain out. This filter clogs quickly and even when new, does not allow a sufficient quantity of water to leave the unit. This helps make sure that there is always a damp interior. When I took the plug out and discovered this, a massive quantity of water poured out of the unit. It literally looked like a garden hose had been turned on for a few seconds. 3) There is something with the design itself where, in my case, if the fan speed is set to greater than 40%, there is a massive vibration which carries throughout the room and sounds like there is a helicopter somewhere close to my home. I was actually “fooled” the first few times into thinking there was one. 4) Insects are able to make their way in, through the unit and you must seal carefully around the unit since there are plenty of gaps. For sealing, I used both “rope caulk,” which is removable and also a removable tape that is designed for sealing other spaces, as you find applicable. 5) The top cover (the one that can be set to "swing") is a terrible idea since it will trap any residual moisture and again, that's something that mold needs to grow. That reminds me, this unit has done a terrible job at controlling humidity levels. Even on days where other rooms have shown 40-50% relative humidity, the room with the Midea AC has rarely gone below 55%. Don't base your purchase decision just on my review. I implore you to do your own research and not make the mistake. I cannot remember another product that I've owned, which has been more frustrating than this one. Once I confirmed the very distinct possibility that my unit has encouraged rapid mold growth, I reached my limit regarding what I am willing to put up with. If mold were healthy to breathe, then the last version of this AC probably would not have been recalled.

I absolutley love this air conditioner. Where do I begin? It's SO quiet, which was one of the main reasons that I purchase this particular one. It did not disappoint! I love how it sits in the window, and my son was very impressed with the bracket that came with it and how easy it was to assemble and install. It's easy to operate. I'm not going to take off a star for this, but the QR code on the instructions did not scan ... the page was unavailable. It was easy enough to find what I needed with an online search, though. One word of caution ... measure your window opening carefully and with the window open. I measured with the window shut and did not realize that it didn't open as far as I thought it did. We got around this by taking the top window panel out (you can google how to do that, it's pretty easy) and the AC went in easily. My windows are old so we had quite a time getting the window back in but we did and it slid easily down into the U-slot. I've seen some reviews that say it's difficult to plug all the holes with the materials they give you. I didn't have any trouble at all with that ONCE I FIGURED OUT HOW TO DO IT. An online video showing different ideas of how to do it with different windows would be helpful, but they give you plenty to work with and it's quite airtight. I hope this review helps someone!
