It's absolutely imperative that you buy the right size for your region and what you want it to work for. We are in the north east and we have an 18KW for a shower. You also need to know that it needs a 240, so unless you're incredibly handy you'll probably going to need to hire people to install this for you. Heat up time: For us, it does seem to take a little bit longer then when we called for it from the hot water tank, but once it's going it can go in definitely. So keep an eye on your water bills! Functionality and temperature: temperature does seem to be spot on to what you set it to, but that's really only if you don't ever turn on the cold with it. The app does let you set it to specific temperatures but we don't use that as much because we just control it as normal with both hot and cold. I'm starting to fiddle with it because if we set it to the exact temp we want we don't even have to touch the cold at all. I'm not sure about the energy efficiency. I think it takes quite a bit of energy to run. We actually had to have an electrician run an entirely new circuit, not just install the 240. So don't be surprised if your electricity bills go up. It does seem pretty durable and well-built, I expect us to last for years to come.

Works exactly as expected. Instant hot water with stable temperature. The touch screen is easy to use, and the Wi-Fi control is a nice bonus. Child lock is great for safety. Clean design and solid performance. Very happy with this purchase.

I can’t get the replacement to work so I will returning it. This company has absolutely no service department and I was told to hire a service technician to come fix this new unit

I installed this Midea 18 kW tankless water heater a few weeks ago during a remodel, and it has been a pleasant surprise. The size alone is a huge upgrade from my old tank unit. It feels almost strange to gain that much extra space. The touch controls respond quickly, and the LED screen is clear enough that I can see the temperature from across the room. Once it was powered on, the water heated up within a few seconds and has stayed consistent even during longer showers. The Wi-Fi feature seemed like a gimmick at first, but I ended up using it more than expected. It lets me check the temperature or adjust modes without going to the utility closet. The preset modes are handy too. I used the lower temp setting for rinsing veggies and it worked well. So far the water flow has stayed steady with no big dips or spikes in temperature, which was important to me. Installation required a professional electrician on my end. This unit pulls real power at 240 volts, so I would not recommend trying it yourself unless you are already confident with that type of work. Once in place, it has been incredibly efficient. I like that it only heats water when it is actually in use. Overall it feels like a solid value for anyone in a smaller home or a space where every inch matters.

If you are not familiar with Amazon Vine, it is basically Amazon trading free* products for honest reviews. You see a lot of Vine reviews that are cookie cutter and based on templates. I aim to make my reviews honest and non-cookie cutter (other than this intro and disclaimer). * These items are not actually free as Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. Therefore, I will never order something from Vine unless I actually intend to use it. I think this is important for readers to understand because it means I will never order an item just to provide a fake five star review to a company. If I review something as good, it means I actually enjoyed using it or it fills its intended purpose correctly. Items that don't meet my expectations will be reviewed accordingly. Why I ordered this item: I've always wanted an on-demand water heater for my shower because my family uses all the hot water each night bathing and I am left to fend for myself in cold, dreary shower dregs. No likes: * Normally I put Likes first, but since the install was kind of a beast I wanted to put No Likes first on this review. * I did read that this required 240V power and I had a 240V outlet right on the opposite side of the wall for my shower since that's where my dryer is. I planned to just pull on that and use it to provide power, but what I didn't realize was that this requires 75 amps and a dedicated circuit. Whoops! I wanted unlimited hot water so bad that I called a neighbor who is an electrician and had him run me a new power line. He had to do a bunch of stuff to my electrical box which in turn cost me a fortune. So, this project ended up costing me a ton of money when I thought it would just be a few hundred dollars. This is not the fault of the water heater, but it is definitely not mentioned anywhere on the listing that I could find. Be aware that you likely will need some electrical fancywork to get this functional, and I highly recommend you do not mess with 240V yourself. Likes: * Once installed, this heater is really great. I -always- have unlimited hot water to my shower now, and I can take showers for as long as I want. This is a game-changer for me as showers are the main way I decompress after a long day. * The water temperature is consistent and hot. I cranked it up hotter than we keep the water for the rest of the house and it's spectacular. * The actual plumbing part was super easy; it was just the electrical part that was savage. * I used to have to wait around one minute for water to heat up. Now it happens almost immediately. This should help my water bill quite a bit as I take two showers each day. * I didn't mess with the app since I don't like installing apps from unknown vendors on my phone, but I don't think its functionality is necessary for me. Would I pay full price for this product: Well, yes I guess. I would not pay to have a new circuit put in again, but if the wiring was already done I would pay full price for this heater. Final thoughts: I'd like to reiterate that you should check your power setup BEFORE you order this. Be aware that you almost certainly will need some new wiring and possibly a new dedicated circuit before you can use this.
