What can I say that hasnt been said? these units are whisper quiet, so much so that you may forget they are even on in the background... They use the usual amount of watts, say 700 more or less on a hot day when 1st firing up but because of the inverter technology, they Ramp down to miniscule watt draw once room temp is achieved.. Often wattage will drop to 75 to 150 watts while keeping the room comfy during summer.. That Incredible, if I had not tested it with a wattmeter in place, I'd not believe it..Build quality is top notch ,almost like a work of art in design with so many thoughful functions that were very well thought out to make its use intuitive and easy...Previous issues with mold were largely due to improper user installation..these were many times installed with the drain plugs Not removed and little or no rearward tilt resulting in water buildup and stagnant in the machine with no way for it to drain.Newer versions have Extra drain plugs and even a level so you can get the rearward tilt proper...I Strongly recommend pulling Every drain plug on these and thus allowing maximum drainage... We have had no issue with mold at all with ours.. They blow cold and quiet and a large volume of air as well..Another tip is to turn Off the eco mode... You will help prevent and condensation from building up because the fan will always be on to some degree,this will help dry out the coils ...its just an extra way to ensure no mold issues...fan only uses 7 to 10 watts anyway...If I had to find any thing to complain about, it would be just that installation was hard for me with 2 of the 3 units we have..Why? because I have them in side sliding windows which requires a custom mounting procedure..it was hard, but its doable..The end result is a quiet midea in a room with window that would normally force you to use a standard AC...When the other one was installed ,it was in an up and down sliding window and that was not hard to do at all..My goal with the choice of midea U shaped ac was to achieve cooling and quietness that would be no louder than our central AC while saving energy costs.. the mideas achieve that and are amazing..Once you have owned one of these, you dont ever want to consider any other AC unit... The Lexus of air conditioners.

I bought the Midea U-Shaped Window AC to help take the load off my central HVAC, which was struggling to keep the house cool during peak summer heat. This unit has been very impressive. Installation was surprisingly easy – I was able to get it set up in about 30 minutes by myself. The design is intuitive, and the instructions were clear. That said, the unit is quite heavy, so having a second person to help lift and position it would definitely make things easier and safer. Once installed, I was immediately impressed by how quiet it is. The U-shaped design really does a great job of minimizing noise. App is very intuitive and give me a ton of control and information about the unit. Overall, I highly recommend this unit if you're looking for a powerful, quiet, and energy-efficient solution to supplement your cooling system. Just be ready to lift with care—or better yet, grab a helper!

Went with this choice after the recall and new drain plugs added with packaging. As well as cleaning instructions to prevent mold issues. As a note. Out of the box. It will tell you to replace the old plugs with the new ones for better drainage. There are several extras with the unit. Two plugs on the bottom and a leveler included to make sure its installed correctly. They are easy to replace with pliers, but I was also able to do it with my hands. Only issue I found was if there is a lot of water from rain or just really humid. It was easier to just remove the plug all together as it did build up over a heavy rain. But the new plug itself is a drip type drain that works OK. I just left the plug out to be safe. Can also just remove the core of the new plug as its a permeable material and leave the plug. But it did get some gunk build up from leaves and stuff on the new plug. Unit works well and cools my apartment quickly. No issues with install and was able to do I by myself. The unit is a little heavy and may need two people. But even I with no heavy lifting training could do it easily. Would recommend to put some foam or other insulation along the window mount that goes against/on the window frame before placing the unit. Once the unit is installed, there are two tiny little gaps on the sides between the foam blocks and the unit. If you have concerns about vibrations with the window mount it comes with and the wall. You will feel a bit at full power. But it also depends on the siding you have. My apartment is brick. So it is muffled a little with the noise being low and vibrations on the wall only felt around the contact points. Could be worse for others. All in all I would recommend for ease of install. Drain issue seems to be addressed and fixed. Cools the area quickly for the space it is designed to cover. And instructions for care of unit were clear on how to prevent mold and issues.

El equipo llegó en condiciones inaceptables: la caja original del fabricante presentaba roturas estructurales, suciedad visible, esquinas aplastadas y signos evidentes de maltrato durante el transporte. No se trataba de un simple desgaste superficial; el embalaje estaba comprometido al punto de poner en riesgo la integridad interna del producto. Considerando que se trata de un electrodoméstico que contiene componentes eléctricos, compresor hermético, gas refrigerante presurizado e incluso materiales potencialmente inflamables, resulta extremadamente preocupante el nivel de descuido demostrado en su manipulación logística. Al abrir el paquete, la situación fue aún peor: piezas faltantes, componentes sueltos y golpes visibles en la estructura metálica del equipo. Un aire acondicionado de ventana, especialmente uno con diseño en U y tecnología inverter, requiere precisión mecánica y correcta alineación del chasis para garantizar sellado adecuado, aislamiento acústico y eficiencia térmica. Our bedroom is the west side of the house and gets the summer heat. Our room stays so hot in the summer it is at times hard to sleep in. We have great air conditioning, but our room is the last of our house to get the cold air and the first in the winter to get the heat so we basically are hot year round. We had another window unit but it would shut off when it would feel the room was cold enough (but it was still in the mid to high 70's). We were skeptical about buying this unit but read some great reviews. And I wish we would have intially gone with this unit! It does not take up much space outside the house and is appealing on the inside and outside. It is also remote controlled so you don't have to get out bed to turn it on or off. It has many settings that you can use to your liking. You can also set a timer to turn the unit off at a certain time if needed or just keep on all night and it will run according to the temp you set. This unit has been a life saver! Instead of being hot in my room it is no COLD. I now snuggle under my blankets and sleep so great at night. It is not too loud but you do hear it running (our other unit was much louder). I would definately recommend this item.

If you’re on the fence about buying this don’t be. It is such a beautiful piece of equipment. I had an old school window ac that rusted out after 5/6 years. It was loud, it grew mold in it that I couldn’t quite always get cleaned out because it couldn’t be taken apart fully, and it often froze over grinding gears or something. It also ran too cold and the entire room was either extremely hot or ice cold. No real in between. This ac is so quiet it literally sounds like the tower room fans you get at its absolutely loudest and Hughes setting. I keep it at 72 and it’s perfect! You can leave it running 24/7 and it’ll never get hotter or colder than what you set it at. If it is on eco mode it will even turn off if the room is staying at a consistent temp and turn itself back on when it needs to cool. Big advantage over old window units you had to constantly change the temp control from 1-10! It also lets a ton more light in compared to the other unit. It was a-little more difficult to set up but it came with everything you needed to install except a Phillips head screw driver. It feels solid compared to the standard window unit. This thing makes the air smell and feel so much more clean and like my room is three times bigger! It has a swinging fan door so the air can move more around the room rather than one direction constantly. I also live in virginia and it’s always humid. This thing makes my room so comfortably dry! No more sticky humid floors! Please buy this if you’re even considering it. It’s well worth the cost. It’s literally the Ferrari of the window units 😂

Forget what you think you know about window AC’s! This thing is amazing. Cools the room wonderfully without spewing out a strong, freezing, humid stream of air. Somehow it gently dissipates the nice cool air. And despite humidity outside, doesn’t feel wet coming out. You don’t freeze if you are sitting right in front of it. Nor do you start dripping sweat if you AREN’T right in front of it. Plus, the u-shaped design makes it feel very sturdy in the window. It comes with supports for below it. The gaps next to it are so small, and easily filled by the pieces they give you, it is not letting in any bugs, air, or water. It is so quiet I can hardly tell the different sound wise between when it is running to when it has cycled off. I thought I’d need to leave it on constantly blowing cool (rather than auto). But it doesn’t disrupt me when it goes off. It is heavy. Like 60 pounds heavy. I had movers and the installer carrying it. But they seemed fine as individuals carrying. Cools my 27’ x 11’ living room/ kitchen/ hallway very well!

This is actually my second unit like this. It rattles sometimes and is loud but then it gets quiet eventually. That would be my only negative thing about it. I have a regular unit in my daughters room and it’s so humid and noisy from the outside in that toom. Not only the ac itself but you can hear everything outside. Then you walk into the other rooms that have this unit and the temperature is more regulated and outside noise is minimal even when the unit is off. So it’s def better then the other options out there. They’re pricey so eventually I’ll have enough to get another for my daughters room.
