    • Simply the best AC unit - I now have 3!

I bought my first Midea U-shaped (a 12k BTU) around 3 years ago. It was whisper quiet, super cold air flow, and didn't cycle on an off constantly. I also noticed that it used a fraction of the power of my other, larger, heavier, traditional window units. The very next season, I bought another Midea (a 10k BTU) for the bedroom and have been super happy. When I decided to buy a third to replace the old noisy unit in my office, I discovered there had been a recall on these, and they became temporarily unavailable while Midea fixed the issue. There was an option to get a full refund on both of my existing units, or alternatively, get a drain kit fitted to solve the potential issue. I didn't hesitate in keeping the units and opting for the fix. There's no way I was heading into the summer without these things. The thought of lugging my older units up from the basement had my back aching, with visions of an increasing electricity bill too. Luckily, within a few weeks, the updated Midea units were back on the shelves and I had no hesitation in buying a third one. This slightly newer model has some extra features beyond the originals but all can be controlled via the app, a supplied RC or on the front panel of the unit itself. Once you've initially fitted a Midea unit, which requires a little bit of crafting to tailor the insulation pieces to your window frame, subsequent removal and reinstallation is quick and easy, especially as they are comparatively small and lightweight given their cooling capacity. For the price, they easily beat the competition and it would take a lot of convincing to get me to switch brands, hence why I stuck with them through the recall.
