Great Computer- Highly Recommended
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
I purchased the 13.5in Surface Book 2 with the i5 processor this January 2019 because my old computer broke and I was looking for an upgrade. I am a current business student going into my senior year, so I was really looking for a computer that would sustain the transition from business school into my professional field. The price here on Amazon ($1,320) is the cheapest price that I found after shopping around. In my information search I went to the Windows Store and the sales representative agreed that the Amazon price is pretty much as good as it gets. The style is very sleek and modern with the metal keyboard and the accordion hinge. I like that you can detach the tablet portion and turn it around to use it as a tablet. In tablet mode you can take notes for class, or you can use that mode to prop up the tablet for entertainment. The materials are good quality and you can feel that the computer will be long lasting. The only critique I have is that the back of the tablet scratches easily, however I am planning to get a case so that is not that big of an issue. I was looking for a lot of specific features in my computer. I was looking for a long battery life, a touchscreen, and a powerful processor; the Surface Book 2 checks all of those boxes. The Surface Book 2 actually has two batteries, one in the keyboard and one in the tablet portion making the battery very long lasting. The battery can last the entire day without charging with consistent heavy usage. The touchscreen is very responsive and the entire tablet component detaches and turns into a full tablet witch is very useful. The processor is very powerful and I am able to run multiple programs at the same time without any lag. In addition, I have found that it runs video games very well even with applications still running in the background. This product is great for people looking for a strong and versatile computer that can really do it all. I would highly recommend this product to students and professionals. ... show more

Still runs like brand new after 2 years of heavy daily use!
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
Update: I have had this computer for over 2 years and it still runs just like it did the day I took it out of the package. Battery still lasts all day with heavy use. Update: 1 year and going strong! I have had my computer for one year. I am a heavy user averaging 6-8 hours/day seven days a week. Still runs as well as it did the day I got it. Runs multiple programs at a time with ease. Battery will still last all day. See below for other positive aspects. Haven’t found a thing I don’t like about this computer. Update: 5 month update - still going strong. I have not found anything that I dislike about this computer. By far the best I have owned. I feel like I have the microsoft equivalent of another brand without the learning curve that a new operating system would require. Battery will still last all day with heavy use and multiple programs. Purchased the docking station and a 27 inch screen to connect and have a great home office. I have had this gem for about 6 weeks. I am a heavy computer user with between 8-10 hours daily for work. I have owned several computers from various companies. This is by far my favorite! Quick loading even with multiple programs and browsers open. The battery will last me all day even with heavy use. And it’s light weight! Love it! ... show more

Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
Disappointed. I received a defective laptop with lots and lots of blue screen of deaths. Problem is that I live outside of US, and the item was delivered to me by freight forwarder. I contacted MS support and explained that if I returned the item for replacement, I would have to pay double amount of import tax + shipping fees which equals in total to 600$ and asked to help me diagnose and fix the issue. I'm still convinced my issue is software related, because I never get BSOD in safe mode or when I didn't install drivers. MS support spent more time flattering me then assisting with the issue. They had written down scenarios, first they suggested to reset windows which I did 10 times, when it didn't work then suggested to return the item. I begged for a better tech support, but I was ping-ponged between surface and windows support personals, each blaming the other. I'm very disappointed as it is supposed to be a premium laptop, with premium price tag and should have at least a little bit better support. Will never purchase anything from surface lineup again. ... show more

Best ultra book with features no other can match exactly
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
Delivered fast. Good package. Very good design among all ultra books. Looked at thinkpad carbon, surface pro, mac book, yoga, this new design definitely has advantages. The ssd allows it on in sec, plus facial recognition, it makes jotting thoughts down v convenient. Able to turn the vol and brightness to much higher than my previous $700 i7 for bright and loud areas is great. The speaker is not an ordinary laptop speaker either. Gorilla glass... v happy with this. Only thing is because it needs to balance itself plus other reasons, the screen cannot swing out flat when connected to the keyboard. Keyboard feels good. Battery life is about 6 to 7 hrs, not sure about 17. ... show more

Fantastic laptop for those who know what they're getting
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
I've had this laptop for a few years now, and it is one of the best purchases I've made with a number of caveats. First, the good. The screen is fantastic, the battery life, when you get it is great. It works fast. Unless you're doing video editing or other gpu intensive stuff it keeps up great. And even then, I can play Noita, Minecraft, or Overwatch with a little tinkering with the settings. The keyboard still works, though I was without the left shift key for a year after spilling port. A couple weeks ago it woke up, so that's nice. All touch stuff still works like a dream. The wifi is flawless, and all ports are still completely functional. Also, the ability to turn the screen around and draw, or just remove it is still very nice, though you will only use this functionality if you use the surface pen. This was fantastic for teaching online last year, as I could use One Note with my pen, and stream what I was writing to students. Now for some negatives. You should expect a scary problem with the laptop about once every 2 months. I tend to use a lot of processes, and this can cause problems. Most of these issues are software issues, though for a couple months my wifi wasn't would disconnect once a day. You'll have to feel comfortable with doing resets, driver diagnosis, and general troubleshooting, or this could be burdensome - it may just be due to windows 10, though I think the laptop has more issues than other windows 10 computers I've had. Also, the surface pen. In my experience, when it's working, it's fantastic, no lag, smooth lines, but it's also a bit crap. I'm on my third right now, so one per year, at a hundred per pop. Also, to write, I recommend a glove. The screen gets hot, and your hand can get sticky. Finally, the keyboard cannot be replaced if you damage it. If something happens, you're in for a world of hurt, as you have to resort to resellers. I had a friend who spilled water on the keyboard, couldn't find a replacement, and had to get a new laptop after trying to find a new keyboard. Anyway, I love it. Also, for the curious, Ubuntu does work on this, despite the unusual hardware. You need to install some driver specific stuff though. And, I never attempted to detach the keyboard with Ubuntu installed, as I was scared of what could happen if something did go wrong. ... show more

High Quality Machine but Poor Pen Performance
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
I purchased the Surface Book 2 i5, 8gb RAM, 256 GB model primarily to take notes for grad school and work on homework when traveling. The ability to switch from a standalone tablet for note-taking and a standard laptop configuration made it ideal for my needs. The build of the device itself is very high quality. The keyboard is excellent. The device itself is quick and responsive and works great in the standard laptop configuration. For me, the problems arise outside the standard laptop configuration. Switching from the tablet configuration to the tent/canvas mode occasionally resulted in the screen getting locked upside down. To turn off the auto-rotation, the device has to be converted back to the tablet mode auto-rotation has to be shut off only then can it be reattached with the screen facing the correct direction. Other reviews have mentioned other problems with the tablet mode and the discrete GPU but this i5 model doesn't have one so I didn't have any other major issues with it. The greatest problem with the device and the reason for writing this review is in regards to the pen. I purchased a 2017 surface pen to use for note-taking. The pen paired seamlessly but writing with it produced jittery lines as can be seen in the attached image. The slower the lines are drawn the more jitter occurs. It seems to be a problem with palm rejection technology. In my experience writing with a single hand on the device produced the most of these jitters. Holding it with two hands seemed to result in less severe pen jitters. Writing notes in these conditions is less than ideal and any sort of serious drawing is out of the question. It is disappointing to experience this limited functionality for a premium device that advertises this feature. After some research and time talking to Microsoft support it doesn't seem this issue is isolated to a single device. It seems to be an issue with the drivers for the pen digitizer and there is no definitive promise to resolve these issues. If you are looking to use the device as strictly a laptop the Surface Book 2 should meet your expectations but if you want to use it for the tablet and pen functionality I wouldn't recommend the Surface Book 2 unless you want a device that doesn't serve its primary purpose. ... show more

Portable yet so powerful
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
As the managing director of an oil servicing company, I needed a day to day companion I can easily use to access my emails and sign off on documents on the go so I decided to get the Surface Book 2. Honestly this is a great piece and has exceeded my expectations. It boots in less than 5 secs and have a good layout and security. During meetings can be used as a pad and can be setup in studio mode too. Overall it is a great piece and I look forward to purchasing the surface book 3 anytime it is realized. ... show more

EXCELENTE EQUIPO
Style: 13.5" Capacity: Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB
