    • This lamp is BRIGHT!
I've been on the hunt for a good desk/monitor lamp. I have way too many to count including an expensive monitor lamp that I'm not using... Picked this up since it seemed like it could serve as a good desk and monitor lamp... I set it up behind my monitor and the lamp head is sitting above my monitor basically where a monitor lamp would go. The lamp has 3 sections-- a main light bar and two smaller articulated sections. The two outer sections can fold back fully so that you can get light above and below. Controls: There are 4 buttons from left to right: - Power for the center section (pointing to your desk) - Button labeled M that changes the color temperature of all sections. Press and hold and it smoothly changes to warm or cool then stops. Tap and hold again to go the other direction. You can also just tap this button to cycle through fixed color temps. - Brightness button that controls for all sections. Tap and hold to change brightness smoothly up or down, tap and hold again to go the other direction. Similarly you can just tap it to jump to fixed brightness levels. - Last button is the power button for the two movable outer sections. The lamp only needs to be connected to its base and screwed in with the included screws and screwdriver. Only 2 screws are required but 4 were included. There is a small light sensor that allows the monitor to adjust brightness--not really sure why I would want this but it hasn't affected usage so far. Pros: - This thing is BRIGHT. They claim 1500 lumens and that is probably correct. This lamp on full brightness draws about 20 W which is on par for an LED bulb of that brightness. The lamp does get warm but not uncomfortably so--20 W will produce heat. - Did I mention it's bright? my desk has NEVER been brighter and I'm loving it--this is the lamp I've been waiting for. - The lamp remembers the brightness/levels when unplugged--so I'm using this with an Eve smart plug and I can control it remotely with my iPhone. - I don't notice any strong glare on my monitor screen. - The quality of the light is really pleasing to my eye. I don't notice any strange flickering or colors across the full range of temp and colors. Cons (or just observations really): - I wish the base were a little smaller. - This is only a minor con--but the light can articulate but if you are using this above your monitor, it really needs to be located in the center behind your monitor. Otherwise, the lamp won't look level/parallel with the monitor. I have my monitor on a monitor arm so I'm unable to put this lamp directly in the center but it's really not that big of a deal and doesn't affect lighting ability. Overall I am just loving this monitor--it's exactly what I wanted! ... show more

    • Great value for a desk lamp
I recently received the Architect Desk Lamp and am thrilled with it. It is an excellent value for the price and has some nice options that I appreciate. One of my favorite features is the ability to switch between color temperatures, which is helpful when I need to adjust the lighting for different tasks and times of day. I also like that I can turn on either the middle or side lights with different buttons. The automatic brightness feature works well, and I don't have to worry about constantly adjusting the brightness level. The outside lights are able to pivot in different directions, which is really convenient. However, I wish that the light stand connected to the base more securely. It doesn't seem to be a major issue, but it would be nice to have a bit more stability. Additionally, I would like to see one more articulating hinge to be able to set the height better, but overall, the height is good and works well for my needs. Overall, the Architect Desk Lamp is a great choice for anyone who needs a high-quality, versatile desk lamp. It provides excellent lighting options and has some really nice features that make it stand out from other lamps on the market. I definitely recommend it! ... show more

This desk lamp has really grown on me, and now I absolutely love it. At first the LED lights were too glaring and it just felt like my eyes were being strained, even when I adjusted the light power settings or raised the height a greater distance. But positioning is everything. This lamp can be angled out, back, and up to cover different heights and distances across your work surface. it has multiple joints that enable angling the different segments of the extension arms. And all parts of the lamp are solid quality, with a sturdy base. When you want intense light to focus on a document or project on a surface, the higher intensity brightness and angling in of the light wings can really strongly illuminate one specific concentrated area if you need it. There is one central light and the two wings, plus a control in the middle that can turn either on or off, and adjust the light temperature and brightness. You can raise the lamp high above your work area for broad illumination or bring it very low just to about the top of a desktop monitor. As I said, the LED lights were really glaring, but I discovered two things that work well for me. One is I sometimes swing and angle the entire desk lamp so one end turns toward me, and then I tilt it down so all the light goes away from me and onto the desk and computer area. Also, tilting the wings up 45 degree when they are the only lights turned on, as they suggested, works wonders. It creates this offset ambient light that shines out to the side away from you, but provides plenty of illumination to see, which is very easy on the eyes - now that is my preferred way of using the lamp when I don't need extreme brightness on the surface. There is also a smart sensor so the lights auto-adjust and dim or brighten if needed based on surrounding ambient light. On top of everything else, it also looks very cool with it's modern clean design, so overall I'm really very happy with it. ... show more
