Was going to get an ice machine for my new place but after reading reviews realized without a freezer component it would be just as good and less costly to work with trays instead. These trays are the best. They make the cutest balls of ice which come out easily and store in the included plastic container. Filling is best accomplished using a cup or glass instead of running the trays under sink water. Would highly recommend.

I bought the cube-shaped set that comes with three trays. I would like to mention that it comes with three complete tray sets, both top and bottom. I say this because it wasn't clear to me from the pictures available, and we all know how sometime sellers play on that to sell us an inaccurate product. Thankfully, that wasn't the case this time. The trays have two demarcation levels to show how high you should fill them. If you fill them above the lower line to where it's just touching the bottom of the upper line, you should be able to close the tops without any water squirting out, while making perfect cubes. Like others said, the cubes might stick to the top or bottom when separating the pieces, but twisting either will easily release them into the provided container. I think the container I received can actually fit two rounds of ice cubes inside, but maybe others are right and it can only fit about 1 and two-thirds rounds of freezing in. There are a whopping forty spaces on each tray, allowing you to produce 120 ice cubes per round of freezing! I have my freezer on max and it doesn't take 24 hours. Definitely less than 12, but beyond that, I'm not sure. I tried checking earlier and the middle one always takes more time, If you stack them like I do. I think the top and bottom took about 4 hours to freeze and the middle a little longer. Obviously, YMMV depending on freezer model, freezer setting, elevation, ambient temperature, etc cetera. In most cases, I think 120 pieces should last you long enough for the next set to be ready. I am happy with this purchase. The only thing to wait for is to see if the longevity of the products stacks up to everything else. I'll try to remember to update my review if anything happens, but if they last for a couple years, then I think that they are worth the 15-20 bucks.

Overall, I do really like these ice "cubes". Making them is more than a bit of a pain, but they are cute and fill a glass very efficiently. There are some negatives... 1) When you pour water in the trays, you're mostly pouring into half spheres. What happens when you pour into a sphere with any force? It comes out the other side and shoots everywhere. Filling trays is NOT a dry experience. 2) Instructions say to put some fixed number of milliliters in the tray. Due to #1, I just filled until all the spheres had water in them. Overall, mostly worked fine. 3) As pictured, you fill the bottom, then insert the top. Water comes shooting out some of the holes in the top which shows they're full. That's fine, but where does the water go? Into indentations in the top, so you are putting wet trays into the freezer. 4) Not very high side walls, so keeping the trays perfectly horizontal isn't easy. More than a bit of water has come sloshing out, including into the row of my freezer below the new trays. 5) When it comes to de-molding, you pull the top from the bottom. Most spheres stick to the top, probably some due to overflow out the hole. Twisting and turning, I did manage to get them all off every time, but they can sure be stubborn. Dumping from the bottom, without the hole the pin them in place is a little easier, but some do stick to the bottom also. Overall, the spheres are tiny, so 30 oz insulated glass uses more than half those made in one batch (of all 4 trays), BUT the glass has so many, some have stayed as ice for 3 days in my experience. Standard cubes tend to be water in 24 hours, so I love the usability of the spheres. They look great, and they function great. Filling and removing from the trays are the only real issue, and they're so cute that I think they're worth the hassle. I'd definitely buy this set again.
