The idea is cute, but in practice, my cat would rather sit in the dark corner of this than peek their face through the bubble. This alone wouldn't be worth a low review, but also, the bubble part screws open too easily - I'm not comfortable knowing that it could come off at some point and my cat will be running loose. I have a cat that gets car sick, so we do not take her traveling often. I will only use this for vet appointments or emergencies, not for actual travel. I needed something more convenient than the old school hard carriers to save on storage space when not in use You will need to air this out when you get it. It has a very strong chemical smell. That is mentioned in the instructions. I have a 13 lb. Tabby and she fits fine in this carrier. It is fabric so the bottom does give when you lift it with your pet inside. This was not an issue for us. The zippers have open ends so you can use locks or claw clips like I do to prevent escapes. I’m not sure how my cat feels about the bubble window in the side. I thought that it was a nice feature, but she doesn’t seem to care. I was a little disappointed that this did not come with another option to the bubble. I think that a flat, clear, vinyl window or mesh window would work better for TSA requirements. The dimensions of the carrier change depending on the position it is in. If you are carrying it with an animal inside then it is about 13” high, however it can push down to the 11” height in the description. This is the same for the sides, the width is shorter when carrying but longer when in the sitting position. The bubble comes out 3 additional inches on the side in addition to the measurements in the description. Overall, this is a functional and convenient carrier, I’m just not sure if it will pass all TSA requirements. ... show more

Right out of the box you will need to air this out (this is mentioned in the instructions). It has a very strong chemical smell. I allowed mine to air out with side open for 3 days. Then I washed everything down. I have a chihuahua and he fit fine into this. I always liked carriers that had expandable sides and chose this one because the sides opened to squares instead of the normal accordion domes. I feel that this gives the animal a little extra room to stand. I did not like that the sides are just shoved into the carrier when they are in the closed position. What I mean is that the mesh portion is on the inside of the carrier and taking up the animal’s space when the sides are not expanded. Most carriers of this type have a zippered panel that prevents this. I am using this as a non-airplane travel carrier (someplace to put him when the maid comes to clean etc.) I will always have the sides open when my dog is in it, so its not an issue for me. I just wanted to point this out for you. I do like that this folds flat for storage. It also saves space when packing if you are using it like I do, as a safe space for when you reach your destination. Though this also causes distortion in the carrier walls. I weighed 3 stars versus 4 for a while before deciding that it’s more of a 4, but I still want to address my 2 main hold-ups. 1. The zippers don’t have a lock to keep them together. This is my biggest issue with most soft carriers (and isn’t exclusive to this carrier - I got 2 in the same day and both didn’t have it). Cats can shove their noses against the zippers and open them up if there isn’t a lock bringing them together. I have separate zipper locks at home for exactly this purpose but my favorite carriers are the ones that already have them (which also tells me that they think really hard about my pet’s safety ahead of time) so I was bummed. 2. It is very smelly fresh out of the plastic. They do warn that in the notecard that comes with it and suggest that you spray it down to clean it and then air it out for a few days. But generally speaking, I don’t love the idea of a carrier that I have to clean before my cat even enters it. I’m going to air it out first for a few days and see how that goes but if you’re in a pinch and need something fast, this wouldn’t work for you. So those are the 2 complaints but here are the things I really like about it: 1. I was zipping up one side and my youngest cat climbed in the other side. I didn’t want him breathing in the fumes so I kicked him out but it was VERY cute and apparently something about its shape is very cat-friendly because he runs from the other one! 2. The mesh sides that open really do allow a lot more space. I actually got this with my biggest cat in mind; he is a MASSIVE boy, not as in fat but just a huge freaking cat, and I thought the space in the sides would be so nice for him. In reality, this won’t work for him; it’s too short length-wise and definitely for small or medium-sized cats (which I didn’t take off for because it’s in the description, I just missed it). But the cat that I use it for (I think probably the one who claimed it LOL) will really enjoy that extra space. I’m slightly worried about the mesh because this particular cat has a history of shredding the mesh on carriers to shove his face through, but it seems sturdy and I think as long as his nails are trimmed there won’t be an issue. I wish it came in more colors because black and red isn’t really my vibe, and I also wish that the bottom insert were a little bit thicker because I have a feeling that after a few uses, it will start to cave in, especially if my cat stands on it while it’s up in the air. But overall it’s a good carrier and I would consider it again in the future. Pictured is the carrier all zipped up (it came with a shoulder strap as well but I only use those for airports so I didn’t attach it yet).
