This is NOT 18 AWG. This is NOT even 20 AWG. This is only 22 AWG. Cable is printed 18 AWG but it's only 22. It is 100% copper. The outer insulation is good and flexible. It cuts and comes of easy. The individual insulation is the same, no problem stripping. The whole cable is looks to be good quality. I did not check length yet since I am most likely returning it. Forgot to explain the pictures. The wires on the left are this cables wires. The ones on the right are from a two pair wire red and black. They are 18 AWG. The red feral crimp connector is for 18 AWG. The white feral is for 22 AWG. If this was actually 18 AWG that feral would have never fit. Getting replacement cable for the same seller and product page in a few hours. I seriously doubt this was just a fluke and the replacement will be actual 18 AWG but here's to wishful thinking. Great solution if you're looking to upgrade a factory system. The gauge wire is a little on the small side (16awg), but it does save space during an install. It was also very easy to cut to the length that you need.

I build wiring harnesses for car audio and what I like about this wire over the Stinger stuff is the thickness and the coloring is better.The black stripe on the negatives is very visible whereas it is barely visible on the Stinger version. I only wish they sold this stuff in 250 ft rolls.

This is very good product. Good 2 layer insulation and individual insulation thickness is consistent. I bought an additional one but different brand because I needed it asap and the other brand costs more, lacked insulation and individual insulation thickness varies. As a result the wire stripper cut the wires. So now I know to stick with Metra brand! ... show more

No issues with brittle wires. The description says it is Metra, but is branded Install Bay. Don't worry because Install Bay is a brand of Metra's. One minor detail is that on some of the wires, the contrasting colors are hard to make out in lower light. E.g. Black striping on purple or green wire.

Perfect solution to add a 5-channel amp (if compatible) using high level inputs from the factory headunit rather than adding a Line Output Converter to a bundle of RCA low level cables. Using a harness adapter, I soldered two sets of this 9-conductor speaker wire; first from headunit output to amp high level input and second from amp speaker output back to the factory speaker harness that was disconnected. This worked well with upgrading the stock audio on my 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Only needed 10-ft of the 9-conductor speaker wire via the center console to under the driver seat. ... show more
