Living at the beach for the last 7 years and I never bothered trying this... Pole is made of metal, everything else plastic. Button pads click well enough, nothing fancy. Powered by 2 9V batteries (included). Plenty of settings and depth adjustable. Use is super simple too, just click what you want to search for and go! I'm a super novice and have found nothing of great value, but it's the thrill of the hunt. Honestly, I just like going out and maybe find something. Super simple to use, fun too! ... show more

I like the fact that it is lightweight and easy to adjust. I like the arm adjustment strap. It makes the metal detector secure and sturdy, and it is comfortable. The screen size is good and easy to read. I had some issues with understanding what different modes should be used. I am sure that with more practice it will be easier to understand. I was not impressed with the level of detection of certain types of metal. It does provide some fun and excitement as you look for your next find. ... show more

husband’s favorite hobby is metal detecting, and this was the perfect birthday gift for him! We live near a beach with tons of cool treasure finds, so the 10” IP68 waterproof search coil works perfect in the shallow waters of the outgoing tide. The LCD display screen is large and easy to see, offering a range of important instant readouts. He loves the adjustable pole length as well because my son can not only tag along, but actually use the equipment. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a waterproof adjustable metal detector based on my experience so far and the below average price.     • Functional and mostly easy to understand

This metal detector is very easy to assemble, and is adjustable to your height. I'm over 6 feet tall and I keep it at its max length and do just fine with it. The instruction book is not bad, but is clearly not translated into English by a native speaker. Even so, it is pretty clear and mostly easy to understand. Any challenges in understanding are largely ameliorated by the fairly intuitive interface. I played around with the interface for a few minutes and had most of it figured out. The only part that I had a hard time understanding was the "Discernment" mode. There are, I think, 99 different profiles of metals it can find and identify. I think that you can exclude any particular profiles from what the metal detector reports finding. I know that you can turn on and off various categories of findings, which are groupings of the 99 metal profiles. I think. I'm not sure that with further use any of that will become any clearer. The good news is that the detector seems to work pretty well regardless of the settings. It defaults to "Detect everything", so you won't be missing things that you want to find. I think that mostly the ability to choose which kinds of items to find is to filter out noise and not keep detecting...1980's-style soda can pop tabs, for example, if the area you are searching happens to be replete with them. To get used to how it works, I walked around my backyard, and dropped a few coins around to see how well it found them. It found the coins, and even detected accurately what kinds of coins they were. Just using it for those ten minutes really helped me figure out how it worked, what the items on the interface meant, and how to use a couple of the different modes. Regrettably, I did NOT detect a large trove of hidden gold in my backyard. I'm pretty disappointed about that. I had kind of hoped for some instant wealth. To be fair, I still don't fully understand how all the modes work, so maybe once I get that down my prospects will look up. Here's hoping! ... show more

Says 10 inch depth. Only can scan 2 inches depth. Sometimes it misses a gold ring that I place as a test subject. Shovel is cheap and bends. And hand pin point tool vibration stoped working as did the noise get dimmer after 1st use.

Used on a beach trip and covered a lot of ground both near the water and farther up the beach. It is very lightweight and very sensitive. I liked the interface and found it easy to use. Form factor was very adjustable to fit me best. I would recommend for a beginner metal detector.
