It functions very well. Easy to use and the holder makes it perfect to carry. It has different settings, a beep when it detects metal, and also a vibration when it detects metal. I prefer the beep, but if you wanted it to be quiet you could use the vibration feature. The vibration setting shakes a little when it detects metal. The only small issue was when you first turn it on, sometimes you need to adjust what setting you are on, and sometimes you aren't sure if it is on. I tended to move it over something metal to see what setting it was on. Also, if you leave it on, it auto-turns off, after about a minute or so, but this is to protect the battery. Can sometimes be annoying if you are using it for a long time, but for the majority of my experience that was just enough time for me to pinpoint the metal. I highly recommend it, as it was super helpful to find and pinpoint items in the ground. It would have been extremely hard to dig if not for this tool. This product works exactly as it should. It combines well with a large scope metal detector to narrow down where the metal is. It is a little confusing to know whether it is on or off until you touch it to metal, so sometimes I have to pause and do a test. Overall, the price is right for a great product. ... show more

So far so good! It’s def a good sturdy device, great to start for kids just wanting to explore. The only thing it don’t detect things to far down, but again it’s for kids so I guess it’s sufficient:)

This little gadget is awesome! I got it for my 3 and 4 year old kids to look for “treasure” with and they’ve had so much fun finding random junk in my back yard. Not only does it work on junk but it also worked on my gold jewelry and any other metal I held it near. The closer you get to faster the beeps. It’s legit a great little detector. Perfect for busy little kids and inexpensive. Plus, we accidentally left it out in a pretty severe thunderstorm and water never got inside the battery compartment and it still works perfectly.
