My husband and I bought this just for fun. We took it to the beach the other day and he forgot to bring the manual. He was able to figure it out fairly easy. It seemed to be pretty accurate. We found lots of nails, metal shards, and screws on the beach. He then used it in our backyard a couple days ago and found really old nails, a very large drill bit, an old septic system (yikes), and even what we think is an old crank for a very old car! This product is amazing inland the directions in the guide or phenomenal step-by-step they lead you in the right direction and it’s easy to read easy to follow! The metal tactor itself comes disassemble but is easily set up with step-by-step guides I don’t know anything about merrily tuckers but the knowledge and tools that the guide gave me at Irreplaceable. The middle detector is so accurate that it would pinpoint and tell me exactly pretty much what kind of metal I was finding exactly where it was and it was never wrong at least for me. The first time that I ever took it out, my wife and I, struck gold with a good find of old coins from the Civil War on our property. Best metal detector I have ever had! I bought this for my 10 year old son, hoping he could be successful with it instead of having to buy a cheap kid's one. I'm so happy with the purchase. He was able to assemble it on his own, understand most of the manual, and start using it all on his own. It's easily broken down when we need it to be compact. If I had to pick a negative, I guess the only drawback we've seen is the display isn't always accurate but we didn't expect it to be. For instance it reads a gold ring as a quarter. So we just dig up everything. I asked my kid what he likes or doesn't like about it, and he says "I like everything about it!" ... show more

The detector has worked well finding things 7 to 8 inches in the ground. When the coil was submerged in water the detector started beeping randomly for a few days. It works now that it has dried out. I will not submerge it again.

A few years ago, I bought a small ranch on the eastern plains that contained a homestead house from the early 1900s. I was recently cleaning up along the fence line and I had a view of the old swing set in the side yard. I got to wondering if the kids that once lived here ever buried "treasure". Probably not, but there was sure to be a lot of fun stuff that has found its way into the ground over the decades. I had never used a metal detector, so I checked out options on the web. I was looking for something really simple and easy to use. I read reviews and settled on this one. It went together quickly and is very lightweight. The instruction booklet is clearly written. The display screen is bright and easy to read. And the price was reasonable. I did a test run with items I seeded just to check accuracy and it was pretty good. Then I played a little in the yard and turned up a lot of nails, but also a few metal parts from buckboards and wagons. I am looking forward to searching more as time permits and I am eager to give this a test run in shallow waters someday. And I am ever hopeful that treasure will turn up! ... show more
