We purchased a property in Rural New Mexico three years ago. Every time we dig to build or do landscaping, we find some little bit of something fun. We thought having a metal detector would be a fun way to try and find some more neat things hiding beneath the earth of our property. This morning, it helped me locate pieces to my hoop house that were demolished by a recent nasty windstorm. It also located several iron construction supplies left by the previous owner. We also found several pop tops that we know were not from us, as they appeared to be very old beer can pop tops and we don't drink beer. As the weather turns, I can see us spending a bit of time going over our property looking for all sorts of things. While I don't expect to find anything significant, it will be good to get the pop tops and other items out of the earth. The directions were easy to follow, and the screen is very simple to read. It gives you depth and possible material. I will say, that several of the pop tops showed as possible jewelry, which was odd, but the more I hovered, the better readings I got. ... show more

This is a very professional detector. It was easy to assemble, comes with a small backpack (for your collections), very nice quality knife/digging tool w/leather sheath, and headset. Headset is padded well, clear sounding. I need to understand the tones better. Be prepared to do some reading. The instructions are clear, but it took me a while to configure the settings. I got this to find my property marker that has been buried for 30 years. Sucess! It required me to 'notch' or eliminate the detection of other metals to find it. Nice feature to prevent false readings. This detected quarters easily. I find it really interesting that it not only detected one I threw in my yard but told me what it was. Dimes didn't seem to work the same, detected them but indicator did not come on, may need some sensitivity tweaking. I think tweaking is a good term for this device, there is definitely a learning curve and I think I will get better at using it over time. Hunting for underground pipes next on the agenda. I played around with this over several days-off and on for several hours. Surprisingly the 4 AA battery (not included) levels are still good. I am considering trying rechargeable some day and see if they work ok. This would be a great tool for any homeowner. ... show more

    • So much fun and it gets you outside!
This Metal Detector is meant for the beginner but that doesn't mean that you can't find coins and other treasures using it. As you will read in the manual it has 6 detection modes: 1. Jewelry - the intention is to find jewelry; 2. Coins - changes the target to silver and gold coins; 3. Artifacts - looks for all kinds of metals; 4. Custom - customizes modes and tones to your specific desire. 5. Notch - Eliminates unwanted targets that you are not searching for. 6. Pin point - Sets the specific depth and location of your target. I really love that I can tear down and set up this Metal Detector in seconds and put it in the bag, (the digital display goes in first, which is why I made a simple sleeve for it out of a hard foam sheet and duct tape for protection). The digging tool is shockingly awesome, wait until you feel it in your hand and see how much time it saves you. I've only taken it out one time so far to where an old garage was tore down years ago, found a silver quarter from 1936. Don't know whether it's worth anything but it's worn and old but it's mine now. ... show more

DetectTrek Metal Detector for Adults, 10 Sensitivity 6 Professional Modes 12" Waterproof Coil 9 Type Target Metals Gold Detector kit, T22 I was able to quickly assemble this metal detector and begin using it without much effort. The digital display is self-explanatory, and it identified my coin and metal tool quite easily. The length and armrest are fully adjustable, so you can find your comfortable sweet spot for detecting. The spade was hefty and came with a belt holder. The earphones are nice, but they don't have a separate volume control, although you could easily use your own headphones because it is a standard audio jack. I appreciate that this uses 4 AA batteries rather than a USB charge. This is much better for changing when out in the field. The detector fits easily into the included carry bag because of how quickly you can collapse it. This would make a nice entry-level detector that has no learning curve or even one for a child.     • SMASHES my old detector! Very fun, no treasure yet though...
I've been treasure hunting with my son on occasion since he was a little, little kid. We've always used an old detector that I can't even recall where it came from, and is nowhere near as nice or accurate (sensitive) as this one. We're going to have to re-search the yards all over again! So far, we've only found 2 coins and a smooshed-flat can of Coke that I estimate is from when this neighborhood was built decades ago. I just know that the real score is waiting to be found! I would suggest you "call before you dig"...I did before the first time we ever went out on an excursion (I know the areas to avoid all together now), although I'm a pretty cautious person, so your mileage may vary (just be cognizant of how deep you're digging). Might have to bring this over to the in-law's house and start making holes in their yards as well! ... show more
