    • Very heavy duty and long! Nice for larger fires with big logs.
The media could not be loaded. These heavy-duty fire tongs and poker are sturdy and huge! Here is what I like: - They have a cool and unique design, guaranteed to be a conversation starter. The tongs look like an alligator and the poker is shaped like a falcon with the other side looking like an axe. Just really unique and creative. - The handles have a comfortable rubber-like grip, which is helpful because these tools are heavy. Also, there is a ring on all the handles so they would be easy to hang on a hook or nail (but use a sturdy one!). - The metal looks and feels like steel, and it would take incredible effort to bend or break either tool, like propping them up against something and jumping on to them. I'm not sure they would bend even then, but I'm not going to try that. - The fulcrum point on the tongs is closer to the teeth end, which is important to get good leverage on the wood being moved. - I can confirm that these are 40" long and that the shaft thickness is 1.5"+. The length means that most folks could make adjustments to the fire from a standing position or seated further away from the fire than with a normal length poker. - It is true that no assembly was required. They came assembled. $50 may seem like a lot for tongs and a poker, but I'm thinking I'm never going to need to replace these given how sturdy they are. The only way I could ruin them is to leave them out in the rain and weather every year until they eventually rust, and of course I'm not going to do that, so they should be with me for a long, long time. ... show more

    • Nice kit for the fire pit
I was surprised to find these tools more heavy-duty than expected. They seem very well made. I had to wait weeks to try them out because of a county burn ban, but after a rain was finally able to break them in at the fire pit and am pleased. The axe part is dull and doesn't really cut, but I don't believe it's meant to. It's more of a bludgeoning device for logs, in my opinion. The tongs are very handy and I like that they have not only the grippers of the alligator's mouth but also the oval section for grasping larger logs and limbs. My favorite is the hook on the back of the axe poker - it brings me joy to jab that into a log or into the coals and stir things up. These are extra long so you don't have to get into the fire to move things around, and the padded handles are a nice additional feature. The price point is a bit high in my opinion, so I will suggest shopping around before you decide. ... show more

I bought two sets of these tools from two different brands with the goal of using them in my Solo Stove on my patio. While they were both nice the set on the top in my photo isn't suited for outdoor use due to the wood handles. But this set with the alligator log grabber and the kind of mediaeval ax poker are perfect. Metal with silicone grips so it's comfortable to use even with a heavy piece of wood. I REALLY like the poker for the fire pit. The curved side is perfect for grabbing a log and turning it over. The axe blade side is great for creating kindling from a log. And, of course, the point is the poker. It's a really well thought out poker. Making the log grabber an alligator is cute but it's very functional. This set is very heavy duty so while it's not lightweight it's not too heavy, either. I REALLY like this set and highly recommend it. And it's a very fair price. ... show more

I have a fairly large, in-ground fire pit in my back yard that we use quite a bit during the winter. I've bought several different fire pokers and they're always disappointing. I've bought one that was 2 pieces that had to be screwed together and it just wasn't sturdy and it was hollow. They're also generally not very long and because my fire pit is large and in the ground, I've been looking for a longer poker. I originally ordered this set because of the log tongs but when I received the order I was quite impressed with the fire poker as well. It's very sturdy, it's one solid piece, and it's a good length. The tongs are also sturdy and st a good length. Living in Florida, the tongs being shaped like an alligator is a nice touch that added to this set's awesomeness. ... show more

    • Very large and heavy duty fire poker set with nice powder coat!
first off, as stated in the description, these are very large and not suitable for wood stoves. You could definitely use these for an indoor fire place but seem a bit long to be ideal for indoor use. They're perfect for my large outdoor fire pit! The product itself is super heavy duty, and are just heavy in general which isn't a bad thing, but something to consider before buying. Because of leverage, lifting a large log with these takes quite a bit of strength. They're nicely powder coated and the set I got doesn't have a single flaw in the coating or construction. I like the cute alligator head on the tongs which is a nice artistic touch. The handles are very sturdy but still grippy rubber. The set even came with a small wrench and Allen wrench to tighten the bolt on the tongs if needed. I would have preferred black on the handles, but the blue makes them easy to spot if set down in the grass and that's just a personal preference. Overall, very solid product as described and the pictures match what I received. ... show more

We have a Solo stove on our patio that we use quite a lot in nicer weather, but never had any appropriate tools for it. I got these so my husband could stop using sticks to move the logs around in the stove. First, these tools are solid, heavy, and scary looking. The tongs have an alligator mouth on them that reminds me of "Swamp People", and the poker looks like some kind of medieval weapon from "Vikings". Second, the tools are long enough so you can use them and keep a safe distance from the fire. Third, they have nice, grippy rubber handles. My husband loves the look of them and can't wait for a nice evening to fire up the stove and give them a try. ... show more
