I like that this doesn't obstruct the whole outlet like a lot of smart plugs do. It is kinda bulky though. We're an Amazon Alexa household so it fit right in, no issues with connecting it or anything. The app is also easy to operate.

My primary reason for ordering this smart plug was for additional on/off voice control for lamps in my home. Initially, I thought I would use this in my living room - but after the purchase, I decided to use it to augment the plug for my bedside table lamp. Typically, my bedtime routine involves reading a book in bed. I often start nodding off while reading, and it is lovely being able to set my book down and fall asleep WITHOUT straining to reach my lamp's on/off knob. I have noticed that avoiding that single action helps me fall asleep more quickly. So far, this has been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. The "TLDR" version of my review is that this is a great product that I highly recommend. For my extended pros/cons list, please read on. Pros: - Ease of use: Meross provides excellent instructions for connecting to their app. This is my third Meross smart home device, and it always seems like connecting to the app - as well as connecting the device to Alexa - is a little more streamlined than other products. The Meross app is also really easy to navigate and use (though, honestly, you won't be using the app much if you setup the plug for voice commands). - Compatibility: I like that this plug works with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa products. I don't like to be pigeonholed into using a specific service. Right now I primarily use Alexa - but I may change my mind down the road. This allows for that option. - Versatility: Works in any plug! And, as a bonus, it doesn't block the adjacent plug in dual plug outlet locations. - Scheduling: I've set this plug to turn on automatically every night at 9 o'clock PM. I love being able to walk into my room every night without even needing to turn on the light. Additionally, it's a nice visual reminder for me that it's time to get in bed. - No More Straining to Reach Lamp Knobs: As explained above, it's nice being able to slip off to sleep without the additional action of turning off my bedside table lamp. Obviously, this only applies if you use this plug for your bedside lamp. - Scene Creation: If you have multiple smart devices in the same room, you can create "scenes" with Alexa, meaning you can control multiple devices with one voice command. Cons: - Not Compatible with Apple Homekit: While I tend to like Apple products, their smart home products tend to be far more expensive than other options. As a result, I don't foresee myself making the switch to a "Siri-based" setup down the road. If you want that option in the future, steer clear of this smart plug. - Wifi 2.4 GHz only: I run both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wifi from my router - so this isn't a con for me - but a small portion of routers out there only have 5 Ghz Wifi. It would probably be best to check your router if you're not absolutely certain you have 2.4 GHz wifi. - Less Room Next To Your Wall Outlets: It may be challenging to use this directly behind a bedside table or other piece of furniture if that piece of furniture fits close to the wall. This plug sticks out from the wall about 1.5 inches, so you need to compensate for the smart plug AND your electronic device's plug when planning whether or not it will fit. With my bedside lamp setup, I ended up connecting this to a power strip, which solved this problem. Again, this was an excellent purchase for me. We recently moved into a new house and have yet to update much of the electrical. My daughter really likes to lay in bed and read at night before going to sleep, but the light switch is on the opposite end of the room. I was on a mission to turn my humble abode into a smart home, so naturally, I hopped on the Meross Wi-Fi Smart Plug Mini bandwagon. Setup was smoother than a dollop of peanut butter on hot toast, and in no time, I was barking orders to Alexa and Google Assistant like a tech-savvy maestro. Now, I'd give this smart plug a solid 5 stars if it weren't for one thing - Apple HomeKit. Alas, Siri seems to be in a huff, refusing to join the smart home party. It's like having that one friend who insists on bringing their own snacks to a potluck dinner - a bit of a buzzkill. But for those who don't mind Siri sulking in the corner, this plug is a champ. With its reliable Wi-Fi connection and the power to schedule all my devices like a boss, it's a game-changer. Plus, the app control is nifty, making me feel like a wizard every time I remotely switch off the lights when I'm miles away. So, four stars for being an almost-perfect smart plug. Easy to wire but their app wouldn't connect to the thermostat. Their email only customer service sent me instructions to, disable the router firewall, change the router address, factory reset the router, and a number of other fixes that I might have been able to follow if I had a doctorate in computer engineering. I sent the thermostats back and ordered a brand that cared enough about their customers to offer telephone based customer support. ... show more

We have several smart plugs from various manufacturers, and most of them seem to be more or less equal to one another. Same is true of this one. It works fine and is priced reasonably. We have a few other Meross devices and they haven't given us any trouble, so I am hoping this plug will work just as well. Setting up this smart plug with the Meross app was painless. I just followed the prompts and in a few minutes it was all set up. Since we have a few other Meross devices, it was already installed as an Alexa skill, so the new plug was immediately recognized and brought into Alexa without any effort on my part. One feature I like about this plug/app combo is that the app gives you a reading as to the strength of the WiFi signal that the plug is receiving. Makes it easier to troubleshoot if the plug isn't behaving as expected. Another feature I like is that the plug is rated for a 15 Amp load. A couple of other plugs I bought are rated for only 10 Amps, and I did not realize it until after I had received them. Not that I plan to plug in a heavy load, but just knowing that the device is built for it makes me feel more confident about it. Also, the plug is relatively small in height so it does not interfere at all with the second outlet in a duplex receptacle.
