Caveat: Received & Installed 8/20/23 (today's date 8/29/23). Purpose is using the meross MSS110 WiFi Smart Plug Mini (15 Amp) as an Apple (HomeKit) Home app accessory which acts as a WiFi available, power switch to power ON - OFF an iOS compatible, 2-in-1 MagSafe charger (with 36W adapter) for my iPhone 13 mini & Apple Watch Series 7. {Fast charging is not an objective & do not use Alexa. Setup is all about easy, On/Off power control through the Home app.} Most of the time, the MSS110 Smart Plug is Off, awaiting being turned back On for MagSafe charging. About 9 days use, does not confirm MSS110 longevity or reliability; but as of this writing, I am very pleased. {I will review again in several months time.} One oddity with the install, was the meross iOS app (downloaded off the App Store for that purpose) did not complete the MSS110 installation (using the QR code on the MSS110) onto my WiFi network (tried several time - no joy); but Apple's Home app installed the MSS110 straightaway. Once installed, there have been no issues whatsoever, either with MSS110 WiFi connectivity, use activation or any hardware-related issues. MSS110 is plugged into a surge-protected power strip and the MagSafe's 36W adapter plugged into the MSS110. ...So far, very good. This setup allows me to power Off the MagSafe power when iOS devices do not need charging and use the 2-in-1 device simply as a holder-stand. If this initial setup works reliably over an extended period, I add more MSS110 WiFi Smart Plug Minis to my WiFi network. ... show more

    • Good option for a smart plug so far

So far this has been a good product, at first setup would not work for me, the app just wouldn't catch the QR code, but I was able to scan into Alexa with no issues, tested multiple times with my Echo and phone, worked like a charm. Decided to order two more, setup was more around the same, however I have had one that will time out, very close to Echo Show and only about 10 feet from my wireless access point. Going to give this more of a test before I decide this product may be hit or miss, but so far I would say it isn't. I have read many negative reviews regarding this device having issues with Apple HomeKit, so far I'm fine with using Alexa, so this works for me. ... show more

    • Matter support - no Thread - ok setup - took a of resetting to get added to HomeKit

Meross has been a great product for incorporating HomeKit into their devices. I have an Eero 6e Pro setup with two nodes at my house. I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro for setup. I had some difficulty getting the devices added to HomeKit. One thing it says on the online manual is you have to factory reset it when you receive the device which is kind of weird. It was necessary for me to get the plugs online. I tried the first one and it connected to Wi-Fi but wouldnt connect to HomeKit. For each device I had to reset it probably 3-4 times. I was finally able to get them connected once I temporarily paused 5GHz and when I did that I was able to get them to HomeKit. An education issue on my side, but I thought having Matter support meant thread support as well. I did not see any Thread mapping in my Eve app, so I assume they are using the same setup as with their previous generation. ... show more

Have purchased a few of these plugs to use with Apple HomeKit. Seem to be the best value option. We are using for a lamp that can not take a hue bulb and also for outdoor holiday lights on our porch (the outlet is under cover). Works well 98% of the time. Every few months they loose connection and need to be restated to start working again. Not sure if this is a problem with the outlet or our network. ... show more

    • It does work with a mesh network
Style: HomeKit Plug 1 Pack
One of the concerns with these low cost smart plugs is whether they can work with a mesh network. A number of people that comment on this topic in these types of threads don't fully understand the issue IMO. The issue is not whether the mesh network supports both 2.4G and 5G. They all do that. The issue is whether the app provided with the Smart Plug can configure the plug to work on your mesh network. The problem is that most mesh networks will broadcast a single SSID for both frequencies. Your phone will connect on 5G but the plug only connects on 2.4G. So when phone pass the config data to the plug there is a mismatch and the plug won't connect. You will see recommendations often to work around this issue like "walk far enough away from your mesh network so that your phone connects via 2.4G and then configure". This will work but what a hassle. The other option is to setup a separate router (not mesh) with the same SSID and password on its 2.4G radio. Turn off your mesh network, configure the plug to work with the separate router. Turn off the separate router and then turn the mesh network back on. The plug will then connect to the mesh network. This also works but again what a hassle. The Meross plug successfully connected from my phone app to the mesh network without any special steps. The reason, I believe, is that Meross uses Apple Homekit to configure the device. Apple's config process has worked out the issue with the 2.4G and 5G radio incompatibility. I have had been able to configure other HomeKit devices to my mesh network so I believe this is something Apple has solved. It was interesting that the Meross documentation has all kinds of caveats about potential problems with mesh networks but I was able to configure it without any problems. Hope this helps those of you considering whether you can make this work on a mesh network router. BTW, I have Google's mesh network router though I would expect it should work on others as well.
