    • The instructions were wrong.

The instructions are wrong. Insert the black knob you unscrew back into the third bottom blade opening, not the center round hole, or the blade won't extend enough to cut bread. TIP: OIL the top of loaves before rising so they won't dry out + can expand. Slit just before putting in oven to bake.
