It is now 4 weeks since I received my scooter. When I first assembled it the light and speed buttons didn't consistently work and I was upset. I wasn't ready for a return because I found dissembling and repacking it difficult. I used it at low speed in daylight for a day or two. Fortunately, there seems to be an initial running period for this too. After some use the buttons began to work and any doubts I had about my choice and purchase were dissipated. I like its solid tyres. I fold it and carry it along on a bus if I have to. I am satisfied with the battery life and charging time. Let us hope it stays like this. ... show more

    • Fun and easy- sad update- it dies!

The media could not be loaded. Update- a week later and it’s apparently dead! I used it daily for 5 days, didn’t use it for 2 days and now it’s dead. Won’t start up. I followed all instructions to the letter. Guess I’ll be contacting the company and will let you know what happens. I’m in my 50’s and play pokemon but don’t always have a lot of time. This was easy to put together and has been easy for me to fold the handle down and carry around. Just be sure the weight isn’t to much for you and it should be fine. I’ve used it a few times now. I charge it for 3-4 hrs after running the battery down. First time I used it I found my balance fairly easily and kept my knees relaxed for bumps. I have a super long driveway in poor shape so very bumpy. I can ride all the way up and back easily. I have motorcycle experience so maybe that helped me with balance and curves/turns? It’s cold out which always affects batteries plus I did drive it at dusk once so the light drained the battery faster too. I was able to go a bit over 5 miles without recharging. I’m also not a lightweight- over 150lbs which I understand takes more battery too. I coast to slow and then gently break or just put my foot down because I’d read reviews about the break. This is not a young children's toy. It works how I expected. I have a helmet and will be getting goggles, horn and gloves. My eyes tear up from the wind, my ears get cold so I’m going to use ear muffs and a horn will be useful. Gloves will keep my hands warm and protected- I’ll get some I can use all year without getting to hot. So far I’m having fun with it! ... show more

    • Solid entry level scooter, but get the 7.5ah

This is my first foray into the world of e-scooters. I wanted something not too expensive around the $300 mark, with decent speed and range. This scooter was just that on sale, and I opted for the 5.0ah version because it was a bit cheaper. Takes about 20 minutes to assemble out of the box, and mine came with 3/4 battery. At just under 200lbs, this scooter will reach the top advertised speed of 15.5mph (25kph) on the max speed setting, and even with a decent headwind only dropped to about 13mph. This doesn't sound too impressive if you're used to driving speeds, but for myself that's about equivalent to a full running sprint. On two small wheels, it feels pretty fast. Range is pretty good, but not the 9-12 miles as advertised. Might be a typo (either intentional or not), but the manual states 8-12km! range. I got just under 5 miles on my first range test, and that was with a almost full battery and I still had 1 battery bar left. That was also done almost exclusively on the top speed setting as well, so not too shabby. Overall, pretty satisfied with this unit so far. Build quality is pretty good. The solid tires are nice, as I don't ever have to fill them or worry about flats 3 miles form home, but you do feel every bump. One thing to note is make sure the metal rod that screws into the folding latch isn't too loose or tight. Too tight and it can't unlatch, too loose and a big bump will cause the handlebar to fold as the catch is jostled upwards which happened on my test run. However that was my fault and I don't blame the scooter's design for it, as I had loosened the rod earlier. Lights work, but not incredibly bright. Good for being seen at night, not so much for 'seeing' anything yourself. The screen is very, very bright; almost bothersome at night but not a huge deal. Easy enough fix with a piece of tape over it to diffuse the light if necessary. Acceleration is okay, not too slow or fast. Takes about 5 seconds to get to max speed (25kph) with the 4kph start. For experienced scooter riders, this unit may seem a bit boring. Too slow, not enough range, etc. But as a starting scooter for about $300 when I got it, I can recommend it as it certainly made me smile when I first got going. Only thing I wish I had done differently was spend the extra $20 for the 7.5ah version instead of the 5.0ah, but I was being too cautious on my first scooter purchase and tried to minimize risk with this guy. Overall, happy with the purchase and would recommend but note the range disparity from advertised and get the 7.5ah version instead. ... show more

The scooter is great! My teenage sons both have one and they love them. After almost a full year of use, when something wasn't working correctly with one, we had to send it back to MAGEWHEELS for service. The company was amazing! They responded to us immediately, sent us a label to ship the scooter to them for free, fixed it quickly, and sent it back to us right away. They even followed up, after the fact, to be sure the repaired scooter was received and working well. Jessie, an intern for the company, was especially helpful.
