I bought this for a classroom reward incentive. The kids really are motivated to be able to put a coin in the machine for a quick piece of candy. It dispenses small pieces that doesn’t have to be gum balls. You obviously need coins which I’ve got a jar just for dispensing the gum balls. My only complaint is sometimes it will take 2 coins to get a gum ball and it doesn’t always just dispense one. It tends to give out 2-3. Which for kids it’s unfair and they will call you out on that. My granddaughter loves this gumball machine. I made her a little jar of coins where she can get the money to get the gumballs out. It works with any type of coin, doesn't have to be a quarter and once compartment is full it can be emptied. There is a setting where you can access the gumballs without payment but that is half the fun for my granddaughter so we kept it. I wish it would have come with gumballs but they needed to be ordered separately. Great product! ... show more

I just wanted something to have fun with since I still like gumballs (I am 59 years old). I don't have kids and find a strange satisfaction turning the crank and hearing the coin drop into the machine and little gumball dispensed. After the gumballs run out I am trying M&Ms! It is almost all cast iron like it says but the bank is plastic underneath. Not an issue since it is only for home use. It is easy to fill and that is real glass as well. I love that! The media could not be loaded. It works like it should. My family loves it!!! We enjoy putting all of our coins in it and tasting the delicious gum. I have it set to receive all coins, quarters, nickels, and dimes. It is a great way to save all the loose change. Also, I use it in my classroom to reward the students for any reason. They love earning coins and then putting them in the bubblegum machine to chew gum in class. It works well and so far I have not had any problem from it. I like that it can use coins or it can be set to free. I look forward to using it for a long time. ... show more

We bought this for the kids' gumballs - we were tired of keeping them in a zippy bag. They are the smaller gumballs and we kept it in the coin-operated mode. I was concerned about the integrity of the glass after reading reviews but the globe was complete with no damage! We changed the size of the distribution hole inside so the kids can get two of the little gumballs each time. Depending on how the gumballs fall, every now and then they'll only get one but every now and then they'll also get three! But the vast majority of the time, it's two. There's been a few times that the coin is inserted, the dial is completely turned, the mechanism makes a sound, but no gumball is dispensed. But if I gently flip the gumball machine over and right it again, there's no problem. I just assume it's because of the way we opened the distribution hole to try to get two out and maybe they create a little traffic jam. We really enjoy it. We were a little deceived by the size. Yes, the item clearly says 12" but my brain still expected something a little larger. But I kind of like the smaller size so it can sit on the cabinet without taking up a lot of space. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a gift for my little one that asked Santa for this for Christmas. I was so excited when it came and it was packaged real good preventing any damage which I was thankful for. I read everything and it said it can take big (normal gumball size) but it can't. It fits them, but they can't come out the shoot when you go to get it. I'm sitting here with 2.5 lbs of gumballs that I she can't even use and now I'm going to have to buy smaller ones so she can use it. Big bummer for a child who only asked for this. Even after finding this out I'd definitely buy again due to the it being real glass, metal, and it can take any kind of coin or switch it to no coins at all!
