I absolutely love the new Maxi Swing portable pump. I have 3 children and have breastfed/pumped with all of them. As a busy mom, I am always on the go, go, go. This pump was life changing. I am able to plug it in during car rides and pump while I drive since it is hands free. Once I get to my destination, I just pour the milk into a bottle and I am ready to feed the baby. Around the house, I use a Fanny pack and place the pump in it so that I can do laundry, wash dishes, change diapers and even eat meals while pumping. It’s working out great. I only wish that Medela provided a Fanny pack for the pump that fit it perfectly. They do provide you with a backpack, but you can’t wear the backpack while pumping. The backpack is very sleek, lightweight, small and portable. It is very cute and stylish. I love how the side pocket opens and has the cooler. That is a very cool feature. There are also stands that hold the pumped milk so that they don’t fall over and spill. This would be my favorite backpack/carrying case and pump out of all 3 Medela pumps that I have used over the years! As far as battery life, it gives about 10 hours I would say before it needs to be charged again. I can charge it at home or in the car. As for suction, it does a really good job on my right side, but does not do the best job on my left. In the beginning, I wondered if it was even working on the left side. My right side will get 4-5 oz and the left side 1-2. This can also be normal as the baby nurses mainly on my dominant right side. Overall, I give this pump a 10/10. I highly recommend for busy moms. Anything to make life a little bit easier. And not having to be tied down to a machine is wonderful.

This pump has seen me on some of my worst days but has truly been amazing to use I love how light weight it is and the travel backpack makes it easy to carry or store anywhere you go. It has a long lasting battery that helps when your child won't decided if they want the boob or the bottle and the setting are very easy to understand and control.

I was originally looking for a pump to bring with me during upcoming travel but I’ve ended up using this pump almost everyday. I am nursing and pumping. My spectra pump is my main pump that I use but the Medela Swing Maxi has been great when I don’t want to be plugged into the wall. I’ve pumped numerous times in the car, on the plane, in Mamava pods. The battery life gets me about four 20 minute pump sessions before I need to recharge. It took a few tries to get the suction strength similar to what I have using the spectra but I’m able to pull anywhere from 3 - 6 oz of breast milk per session using this pump. It is definitely not a hands free pump but you are able to be mobile and it’s great for travel. The insulated backpack is awesome for carrying pump parts and breast milk and is very discreet.

PROS: I love that it is portable! Trying to balance taking care of a newborn and being able to pump at the same time has been helpful. The flanges are comfortable. The numbers on the bottles are clear and it is easy to measure, especially with the bottle stands that help prevent spills. The backpack is helpful to keep everything together on the go. I used the Medela hands-free pumping bra with this pump. CONS: Because the product is so new (10/2021), it was not listed in the Medela app, so I could not setup Bluetooth to see how long I had been pumping. I wish it had some sort of visual display to see what level of flow I'm using. It needs some sort of clip to be attached to clothes or something. Adding nipple tops would be nice in order to feed directly from the pump session. The release buttons are a little tricky sometimes. Overall, I would highly recommend this pump to any moms that are pumping!

Update: In less than 6 months, it died. It's fully charged, but the motor will start for maybe one or two suctions, then die... Even if it's plugged in. I called Medela, but you have to send it in so they can test it. While that makes sense, it's going to take way too long to get a replacement when it's something I use everyday! The pump in style I got a year ago still works, even though I use it twice as much as this one. (Although, it has given me a few scares where it starts up, but takes a while for the suction to kick in) Totally disappointed in this product. I got the Pump In Style first, and thought I'd try this one too. It's neat that it's portable and I'm not chained to the outlet. But it's also quite large, and doesn't exactly fit in my pocket. The battery doesn't seem to last that long, so that's a bit of a bummer. The suction is good. I was disappointed that the tubing isn't interchangeable with the Pump In Style. At least the membranes are interchangeable. Mixed feelings on the flanges with the new silicone outer part. I didn't find the old style uncomfortable, but this new one sometimes has issues getting a good seal for me. The backpack it comes with is cute! But not very practical. The compartment for the bottles is isn't big enough to add ice packs. I'm glad I have two pumps, one for work and one for home, but ehhhhhh... I'm not exactly in love with my purchase.

Great pump. I had the spectra 2 and willow. Willow was terrible adjustments and misleading information through provider. Willow has a great IBCLC team to assist but I was not aware of them until my journey was coming to an end. I was able to pump for 5 months because if the swing max. Very user friendly and easy to trouble shoot if there were issues. The only problems I ran into was the need for replacement parts because of poor or decreased suction. Also after sometime with new heads, there would always be one side to lose suction or have difficulty aligning that was at times frustrating as well. But all in all with the compariso6of the three this one was always my main pump and the most comfortable. I do wish the section unit was more discreet and smaller or the unit not to jut out as far as it did. Overall solid product.
