I was going to get a cheaper black steel cargo carrier for around half the price, but a friend has one of these and I was impressed by the lightness of it and the 500 pound load rating. They have had zero issues with corrosion or other failures. It’s held up well for them. With a screw gun, Phillips bit, and 8mm and 10mm open end wrenches, I had it put together in a half hour or so. I purchased the water resistant bag made for this carrier, I have not bothered to try it out yet, but when I do, I’ll review that as well. One major consideration is that the 500 pound rating is limited to what the tongue rating is for your particular hitch. I have a class 3 2” receiver hitch on this van that’s rated for 525 pounds max tongue weight. My other car has a class 2 2” hitch rated for 300 pounds max tongue weight. So for that vehicle, 300 is the max safe load even though the carrier can take 500. Please look up your particular hitch and it’s rating so you don’t damage your vehicle or lose your cargo. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Great basket, perfect size. I recently returned a steel basket that was super heavy, right at that moment I decided that I wanted an aluminum one instead of steal. This aluminum basket is easy to lift and handle the insertion process because it's not super heavy. I'm definitely expecting more unrealistically. It does the job. I like the aluminum because it won't rust and it's lighter but it bends easy. I already had a few dents when unboxing. Assembly was tedious. I paired it with a 6" lift receiver hitch so it doesn't bottom out. Little smaller than I wanted but again does what I need it to do. ... show more

The high side rails provide great security for my luggage, ensuring nothing shifts during transit.
