I purchased this bike rack due to the number of high ratings and price point. Overall, it seems like a good value. However, when the package was received, the box had some torn areas that were covered with clear packaging tape. So, I suspected that the box was damaged somewhere between the manufacturer and my front door, and there was likely one or several parts missing. When I opened the box and inventoried everything against the install guide, I was correct. It was missing a lock nut and two washers. I knew the local hardware store would have these in stock, so i made a quick trip there in order to get the assembly done quickly. I didn't want to go through the hassle/time of boxing it back up and returning it to Amazon. Once I had all the parts, the bike rack was easy enough to assemble. It was also easy to install in the 2 inch receiver on the back of our SUV. Instead of the normal hitch pin, it uses a special bolt that threads into the receiver portion of the bike rack. The end of that bolt is unthreaded and narrow, so when the bolt , washer and lock washer are tightened on the head end, the opposite end portrudes through so you can insert a pin clip (provided) into it as a safety measure. Also, one nice design feature is that you can pull a pin and tilt the rack forward, which allows you to open the rear hatch without completly removing the bike rack. After I installed it on the SUV, I did some tugging on it to see how sturdy it felt. For my needs, I think it will be more than adequate. We are just using it to get 2 bikes up to the lake (about 1.5 hours away), and also to local parks where we can access the bike trails. Again, my only complaint about it, so far, is regarding the few missing parts. I think the manufacturer could devise a way to ensure the small parts don't get lost if the box is damaged in transit. I will expand my review with "actual use" comments once we've taken it somewhere.

Love the rack! Easy to assemble, takes up little space and can easily keep it on and not lose access to the tailgate! Still haven’t figured the configuration for 2 bikes or to place 1 on the rearmost fittings (anyone know?) without it hitting my car. Once that receiver hitch pin is screwed in tight, it doesn’t rattle. My one suggestion is that it should come with a locking pin for the hitch mount. Slated Sept delivery for the 50025 model on Amazon right now…. Aside from that, recommend the rack. It held great on my 1800 mile trip.

The bike rack is perfect for what I needed it for - to take a bike across town to a flat place for me to ride. It seems sturdy and was easy to assemble. For those showing it wobble and saying it wasn't sturdy, I don't think they tightened the nuts sufficiently. They are lock nuts which cannot be finger tightened and you need more than the single wrench included to snug them up sufficiently. I'm not a fan of the bolt holding the rack in the receiver hitch but that is what makes it tight in the hitch so it doesn't wobble. Means I have to get down on the ground with a wrench to tighten it in the receiver but once I do that it rides straight and true and doesn't wobble. The plastic cap on the top of the hitch arrived shattered and broken and was in the bottom of the box. I suspect that happened during delivery when the box was dropped on its end. It doesn't effect the performance but I sure would like a replacement to keep rain out of the main tube so it doesn't rust as I suspect it isn't painted in there. Overall a great rack esp for the price I paid.

I'm very impressed with this bike rack, especially for the price. It works exactly as specified, and as others have said, simply make sure the bolt in the hitch it TIGHT. So much easier than my old strap on trunk mount rack. With the old one, I had to remove it when I was done riding just to get into my trunk, and the clips were starting to scratch the car. This one will stay on my car until my riding ends with the bad weather (if it does).

Works for what I need at a great price. I am not an avid bike rider but this will work for my occasional excursion. I wish it was easier to remove from the car and would fold down the hanging bars when not in use. It is great to have the option to just release the pin and let it fold down to get in to the back lift gate but I would not haul it around everywhere when not in use except for the fact it takes a tool and a bit of time to get it off of the car. Also good that someone can't steal it, so there's that. It would be better if you could lock it on to the hitch receiver but remove easily when not in use.

The adaptor that comes attached to the hitch insert is not quite 2" and the bolt requires that you screw it on so forget about quick removal. The mount wobbles, but this can be fixed with a shim or even by wrapping it a couple times with flex-tape, which is what I ended up doing. Everything on this is cheap - but it works. I just wanted to mount my bikes to the rear of my car instead of on top and this filled that need perfectly. Its not anywhere close to Thule or Yakima in quality, but it DOES work as a very simple bike mount.
