So I am writing this as of December 2023. I purchased the 18 inch gold version of this product: Environment: Southeastern United States Location: Gun cabinet stored in non-climate controlled secure shed Cabinet: Stack on 18-gun security cabinet (With modifications: Weather strip sealing around the door, all unused bolt holes sealed with tape, screws with rubber washers to seal used holes). Measuring devices: Two identical ThermoPro humidity & temperature monitors purchased at the same time recently I installed the rod along the center divider of the cabinet so it is as close to the middle of the cabinet as I could get it. December 2023 weather Day 1 Measurement 1: 12:00PM, outside: 76% humidity, 67.8 deg F; inside: 55% humidity, 68.4 deg F Day 4 Measurement 2: 2:00AM, outside: 76% humidity, 65.6 deg F; inside 58% humidity, 69.3 deg F Day 6 Measurement 3: 6:00PM, outside 64% humidity, 69.3 deg F; inside 54% humidity, 73.2 deg F I even switched the outside and inside ThermoPro sensors and I am seeing the same differences so there does not appear to be any noise caused by the measuring devices. I hope this helps some folks. Time will tell if my firearms rust but this product seems to work as advertised. The product is obviously warm to the touch, but you won't burn yourself if you brush up against it. I can touch it briefly and move it on its mount if needed without an issue. ... show more

Maintains 69 degrees and 35% humidity in my gunsafe in my basement. I’m sure cabinet size, rod size, and location will effect your specific results. But I am very satisfied.

So far, so good. Installed in an insulated metal cabinet to help keep assorted welding wire, welding stich, etc free from moisture/rust. The plug is VERY easy to assemble/install through a smaller hole than the plug size. 7 watts so it draws very little power.

This item is perfect for what it is needed for in a safe. Not only does it dehydrate any moisture, but it also heats the interior of the safe it is mounted in. Does what it needs and you don't have to worry about keeping it charged since it runs off of electricity for all it needs to do.
