Great Workout Machine for Tight Spaces - Some Challenges
The Vimexciter MF-03 appealed to me because I have limited space for my home gym equipment. The combination of the cable/pulley system with the resistance bands allows maximum flexibility in planning your workouts with as much or as little weight (aka resistance) as you need or want. The addition or subtraction of weight is easy enough and the system is generally well constructed with the following exceptions: 1. The installation and alignment of the system is not a one-man task. I feel as though Vimexciter could have provided a nice paper template to help the installer with accurate placement of the left and right brackets on the wall. 2. After only 6 weeks of use, the Smith Bar sliding bushing is starting to catch on the vertical guide bar as it raises and lowers. I suppose I would have expected the sliding bushing to be outfitted with ball bearings to ensure years of trouble free service. I am a little disappointed that I now have a somewhat "jerky" travel path while raising and lowering the bar during my workout. 3. The resistance bands that ship with the unit are likely only about 50% of the labeled weight. This prompted me to purchase the Vimexciter resistance band pack with 10lb, 20lb, 25lb, and 30lb bands. These bands are very close to the rated weight and you will need the extra resistance if you are trying to build muscle at all. The carabiner located at each end of the resistance band is clumsy and somewhat difficult to connect/disconnect as you are switching bands between exercises. I replaced the carabiners with S-Hooks that I bought online. I also used a bench vice to close the side of the S-Hook connected to the resistance band so that it would never fall off. I think this is superior way to implement the connections to the clamping eyes of the cable pulley system.
