For those radiators with transmission oil coolers, the tanks are molded using heat-resistant, high-density polymer plastic for added protection against extreme engine temperatures. Each TYC radiator is leak-tested before leaving the factory to ensure consistent quality.

  • Works as intended
Exactly what I needed for. But side note you may have a head gasket issue that lead to the radiator having problems in the first place so after changing verify that. If you do..put half a bottle of head gasket sealer in.

  • Exact fit, no leaks.
This radiator came branded as KOYORAD 2402. It was about as close to original as one could have wanted. To my eyes the core looked the same as the original and everything lined up perfectly for a trouble-free installation in my 1999 Subaru Forester. It came double boxed with an additional cardboard backing strapped to the radiator. Some tips: 1. It's handy to have two drain pans available, one for the coolant and one for the oil from the transmission oil cooler (TOC) at the base of the radiator. 2. When disconnecting the TOC conections, you can use the two rubber caps that come with the new radiator to close off the same connections on the old radiator to minimize spillage of the oil. Two No. 00 rubber stoppers work well to push into the oil lines from the engine to stop drainage there. These stoppers are about 1/4 in. across at the small end and 1/2 in. at the large end. Cork stoppers should also work as would appropriately sized ball bearings. 3. There are two thick rubber grommets on the bottom mounting posts of the original radiator. These came off attached to the original radiator and I didn't notice them at first. You need to slide these off the posts and install them onto the new radiator or the new radiator will sit too low and wobble around. (Ask me how I know.) 4. I chose to reuse the original petcock since it seemed to thread in more securely than the new one. It's a little longer but fit w/o a problem. Be sure you have the rubber O ring on the petcock. Overall this was an excellent purchase and I would recommend this radiator 100%. Update: After twelve months of use the radiator remains problem free. ... show more

  • Pipes wrongly sized
Good deal for the part, I installed myself three weeks ago and it works just fine so far. The bottom and top coolant pipes were sized wrong, so I got PVC pipe couplings for five bucks and cinched them in to fit. I also had to jam to radiator cap on, since the opening was a little large. Other than that, works fine for the price ... show more

  • Factory fit and easy swap out.
This radiator is one of the best units you can buy on the aftermarket and I will even go so far to say better built than the factory unit which is the reason I bought this one,the original 16 year old one to the car finally split at a seam and was leaking. If you are fairly mechanically inclined you should be able to complete this job within an hour or slightly more, just make sure to have the tools you'll need ready to go so you don't have to hunt around for them. My problem was I didn't have as much replacement antifreeze as I thought so had to jump in my other car to make a Walmart run or else I would have been done in less than an hour haha. Since installing it about two weeks ago I've only put about 100 miles on the car since it's not my primary vehicle but it runs cooler, shifts smoother since the trans fluid is cooler now too and hasn't leaked a drop yet. ... show more

  • Gets The Job Done
Fit right into my 2000 Forester. Only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is that the drain plug basically snapped off when I tried to take it out. I just threw my oem plug back in it, so no big deal. Also, the "posts" that you slide the rubber mounts on are smaller than on the oem radiator, which leaves the rubber mounts a little loose. Also not a huge deal, but those 2 things kept it from being 5 stars in my opinion. Other than that, I've got a couple hundred miles on it so far, and it seems to be doing the job 👌🏼 ... show more

  • worked well , even a year and half later, so I am pleased
I got this not knowing how it would hold up , but I am pleasantly surprise by its built quality, so far my forester is running great with the replacement. I would recommend this to anyone.

  • Not quite exact fit.
Got this for my 2001 Forester. While it fits nicely, the holes for the fan bolts are not lined up on one side. The top mount bolts are also misaligned causing the brackets to be seated at an angle. So while it's not an exact fit, it's a good temporary fix.
