We hung this April 18 on the south facing side of the house (northern Delaware). The next day, there was bee activity. By May 4, 10 tubes were filled (The photo shows the 10 filled tubes as well as a bee flying by the lower left hand corner.) I think the larger diameter tubes are just for filler. I suspect the species we have is the introduced Osmia cornifrons. Mason bees do not sting and are great pollinators (we aren't great gardeners, but somehow they manage). ... show more
